Baking soda teeth whitening help?

Um. Yeah I just started brushing my teeth with baking soda - all ready they feel whiter LOL. I brushed my teeth for 2-3 minutes approx. Now, my teeth aren't THAT sensitive, neither are my gums. But they happen to be OCCASIONALLY. How long should I brush my teeth with baking soda for until they turn white completely? Because all websites are different. Some say once a week, some say once every 2 weeks, some even say 3 times a year, which seems a bit too long. >< And a few say everyday. But I'm guessing all those suggestions depend on the kind of teeth I have. And I just told you XD they're not really sensitive that much. I just want to get the yellowish.. food coloring stains off with baking soda really. How often should I do this for? (:

yes my dentist told me to brush my teeth with backing soda with my toothpast for only 1 - 2 times a week and yea it works

I whitening toothpaste bad for your teeth in any way?

also how long will my teeth stay white for affter I stop using whitening toothpaste, and what is the best (reasanable priced, and accessible) whitening toothpaste thanks
--------------------
The reason the whitening toothpaste is called "Whitening" is because the paste is more abrasive than the non-whitening toothpastes. The stain that the whitening toothpaste gets rid of is on the surface of the tooth usually caused by the food you eat. Where whitening strips are for the stain that they call Intrinsic stain (has been absorbed into the tooth) Because the whitening toothpaste is abrasive, it Can wear at your teeth and gums (depending how hard you brush, type of toothbrush, how often...) It's tough to say how it would affect your teeth since I don't know your history. But as long as you don't have an issue with weak enamel and don't ruin your toothbrush bristles within a month(meaning you brush too hard), you should be fine. You may want to ask you Dental Hygienist the next time you go in for a cleaning,(or your dentist if you see him/her first) You probably will not see a Huge difference in the whiteness of your teeth unless you have heavy deposits on your teeth. After you use the toothpaste it will stay white as long as the debre is gone. Things that cause stain on the outside of your teeth: coffee, coke, tang, tea, smoking. If used enough, some of these stains can be absorbed into your teeth as well. If you want to get your teeth whitened a couple of shades you may want to use a strip or whitening product which whitens the inside. I personally use Colgate total whitening. (I also switch off with different regular pastes as well) Be weary of online whitening products. I have not been impressed with a lot of them.

Gel-less teeth whitening from store?

Is there any teeth whitening system that doesn't require the use of gel? Every product I've tried requires some sort of whitening gel that oozes out of the tray. It'd also be nice if I could buy it from my local grocery store. Thanks!
--------------------
Hi there---truthfully, nothing works as well as the concentrated gel you can get from your dentist, using whitening trays made specifically to fit your teeth and yours alone. If you have a lot of gel oozing from the trays, that is a sign that you are using too much. A little goes a long way! The whitening mouth rinses that are available do not work because the idea is to have the whitening gel on the teeth for a period of about 3 hours per session.

Teeth Whitening.... effects on the enamel?

Crest whitestrips. Are they bad for you? Do you get sensitive teeth after using it? What are some other affordable solutions? Whitening toothpastes?
--------------------
any type of whitening effects the enamel. i tried crest and my teeth started to hurt really bad so when i went to the dentist i asked him to try it using professional solution, well it hurt any less. So i guess whitestrips $20.00 vs professional $100 whitestrips are the way to go cause both options are going to do the same damage to your enamel. When i was using whitening solution the dentist gave me i was also using the toothpaste EnamelOn- its an enamel strengthener toothpaste which helped ease the pain a little. There are other whitening strips out there but ive never tried them. sorry i think whitening toothpastes take too long to see a noticeable difference. thats just my opinion
