For cheap teeth whitening, try cutting any drinks that have color from your diet. I would stick with just water and milk for a while and wait for awhile to see if it helps. If you don't want to wait, order a whitening kit. There's a lot of free trials going on so you can test which one will work for you. Also, If you want to do mouthwash, choose one with fluoride to strengthen your teeth. My mother had the cheap teeth whitening questions and the one that worked out the best for her was the kit. Good luck

Does 35% carbamide peroxide teeth whitening really work?
I have got myself some 35% carbamide peroxide and some mouth trays from online. Its meant to be great teeth whitener. Ive been instructed to wear it every other day for 5 mins and then increase to 10 if I dont get sensitivity. Ive tried it once for 5 mins. It stinks your gums but once its off its fine. Anyone used this and does it actually work? and if so how many 10 minute sessions will it take? Thanks
--------------------
35%carbamide peroxide is more than the recommended % of whitening agent. You continue using in 5 mts .you will get the result sooner. I recommend not to use it more often since these agents can induce sensitivity which is even more worse to handle. be confident ,dont rush for result,be consistant ,you will see the teeth sparkle!!!!!keep smiling

I can say that most of my patient's have had some measure of success with the Crest Whitestrips, some more than others. Our office uses the Supreme which are 4 times stronger than what you can get in the store, but the others will work as well but take more time and possibly more than one kit. The results are usually pretty quick, noticeable in the first few days, best in a week or longer. If you can, do yourself the favor of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar, plaque, or orthodontic cement) will impede their ability to work. They will not whiten any white fillings you may have, but whiten uniformly. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). You should not drink or eat anything dark for at least 1/2 hour after using the strips. The strips/trays are your least costly whitening method as compared to custom made trays or in office whitening ($500.00+) All of the methods (strips, trays, custom trays, in office whitening) have the potential to make your teeth temporarily sensitive, but will not harm the enamel. If you get sensitive use the product every other day in conjunction with a sensitive tooth toothpaste. You might try to drink dark liquids through a straw and don't smoke. Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth and therefore are not so effective. Whatever method you use it will not whiten your teeth for life, as you age your teeth will get darker and may need to be whitened again. Good luck! JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

Is it safe to use the Crest Whitening for your teeth while pregnant?
I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant & I bought a pack of the Crest Whitening strips today, I read the labels beforehand and nothing said it was unsafe to use while pregnant. I know I should call my doctor, but I was wondering if anyone else knew the answer after having called their doctor? I'm getting married in two weeks & just want to brighten up my teeth a bit. thanks!<3
--------------------
This is pretty "iffy" territory. Not enough research has been done on the matter so most people err on the side of caution and just skip it during pregnancy. It's really your choice though, nothing has been proven that it causes any harm. I will let you know though that your gums get a lot more sensitive during pregnancy so if you choose to whiten, that might cause some issues. I can tell you if it was getting married and wanted to whiten my teeth I would probably just go ahead and do it though since it hasn't been shown to be harmful and it's not like you swallow tons of that gunk anyhow! :]

Can teeth whitening damage gums?
I am currently whitening my teeth at home using a kit. Can the gel damage my gums? I put a little too much in the tray last nights and now the edges of my gums are white. Is it just a temporary discoloration or did I damage them?
--------------------
Yes, it can cause pain, it will not whiten them, it will kind of chap them. Make sure to rinse your mouth thoroughly when you take the gel out.

Crest whitestrips are amazing for natural teeth whitening! I know a few people who use them and every one of them (including the smokers and coffee drinkers) have beautiful white teeth. It will take several applications but it works! A few of my friends are also using whitening kits they've ordered online. Between you, me and the internet...their teeth is a lot whiter in a shorter amount of time than the ones using the strips. I'm going to order one after I remove my braces this week. It doesn't hurt to try these natural teeth whitening kits but a few minutes of my time.

Hello, there are some tooth whitening products that are still under investigation as to whether or not they can, over time, damage the surface or body of teeth...Regardless of the one you choose to use, I caution you, follow the instructions explicitly...Good luck and I wish you well.

Safe teeth whitening techniques when pregnant?
I know bleach probably isn't that good of an idea... what is though?

Inexpensive Tooth Whitening Methods * Baking soda: You don't have to spend dollars for attaining a beautiful smile. You can easily whiten your teeth up to 6 shades by applying the mixture of baking soda, salt and some water. This mixture should be applied like a paste with a toothbrush. It is advisable to rinse your mouth after usage for rejuvenating your oral health. * Hydrogen peroxide: It is one of the main ingredients of almost all whitening gels. Which over-the-counter teeth whitening kit is the best?
I'm referring to the ones that you could find at your local Wal-Mart or Rite-Aid or Walgreens or whatever.
--------------------
try not to use the strips, i mean everyones different and all the whitening feels weird, but even if u wipe ur teeth dry before sticking them on, they will still mess up, so u want to use the ones with the disposable brush (i believe crest makes those) so it will go directly on, not stick to ur lips and u control it covering all ur teeth, not just the front middle section.

Inexpensive but effective teeth whitening?
what are the best teeth whitening products that wont completely break my wallet?
--------------------
(This is going to be a somewhat long, but informative answer). You should definitely go with whitening mouthwashes. You won't notice the difference right away, but you will notice over time, maybe a week, or a few days, as long as you use the mouthwash once in the morning and once at night for 60 seconds (just like a regular mouthwash). I'm sure you've seen the commercials for it, like Listerine White and Crest White. They really do work. The brand I would recommend the most would, surprisingly, be the generic brands (like Equate from Walmart or Kroger from Fred Meyer). I did a science experiment for my chemistry class as to which whitening mouthwash was most effective in teeth whitening. I found that Kroger was most effective out of the bunch, and Listerine White and the Walmart brand did just as good. The ones you should not buy are Scope and Crest White. Although the two do whiten your teeth, they don't do it as quickly or as well as the other three I tested (I also tested the 3% hydrogen peroxide solution you find in stores for less than a buck, because apparently, you can use that as a teeth whitener, too. But DON'T use it. It SUCKS at whitening. It did the worst in my experiment). The bottles generally go for $5. I got a huge bottle of the Walmart brand for $5, and a smaller Listerine bottle for $5. You'll find these mouthwashes in the mouthwash aisle in solid white bottles.

Teeth Whitening?
In stores what is the best product on the market for Teeth Whitening ?
--------------------
Home teeth-whitening kits If you're looking to spend less money and don't mind some inconvenience, over-the-counter tooth-whitening kits are a safe alternative if they're used according to directions. (Some dental experts have pointed out that consumers tend to overuse teeth whitening products, thus it's always best to consult your dentist.) Crest Whitestrips (*est. $25) come in as far better than other tooth-whitening options in most reviews, even when compared to the pricier Crest Whitestrips Premium (*est. $35) . Note, too, that the original product is now sometimes referred to as Crest Whitestrips Classic. Experts say Crest Whitestrips are convenient and effective, with average whitening of about three shades. You wear these Band-Aid-like strips, which contain 6% peroxide gel, for 30 minutes twice a day for two weeks. Results can last up to six months. Both testers and consumers say they noticed whiter teeth after only a few days of use, and contributors to Amazon.com are full of praise for Crest Whitestrips, saying they're definitely worth the money. However, testers from The Wall Street Journal found only a half-shade improvement and didn't like how much the strips made them drool. We didn't find any reviews of a newer version of Crest Whitestrips with 14% peroxide (*est. $50 to $100) that is available only through dentists. If you don't have time to sit and wait for a strip to do its work, you can whiten at night while you sleep. Colgate Simply White Night (*est. $15) is a paint-on liquid tooth-whitener that you wear overnight for two weeks. The tiny brush can fit into small places between uneven teeth that might be unreachable by a strip. Results can last up to six months. Some testers say they didn't like having to keep their mouth open while the paint-on liquid dried, but according to the manufacturer, drying is no longer necessary. If you prefer daytime use, but like the idea of a brush versus a strip, Colgate's Simply White (*est. $10) is designed to be applied twice a day for two weeks. The teeth-whitening gel is completely absorbed so you don't have to worry about rinsing. When it comes of over-the-counter whitening products, experts and testers prefer teeth-whitening strips and paint-on whiteners to over-the-counter mouth-tray whiteners. Since the mouth trays are one-size-fits-all, the trays can be ill fitting. Two reviewers found Ultra Plus+White (*est. $12) to be ineffective and note that the foam mouth tray is extremely uncomfortable, even causing a sore throat in multiple testers. Another novelty to hit the market is tooth-whitening gum. Trident White (*est. $1.50/per pack) doesn't contain peroxide, but it does have a "patented technology" that supposedly breaks up surface stains. To see an effect, you need to chew two pieces for at least twenty minutes four times a day -- not a problem if you're a habitual gum chewer. But if you're just looking for a way to whiten your teeth, you're better off picking a more convenient option. Testers at Good Housekeeping do claim to see one shade of improvement after chewing whitening gum for six weeks. However, this is a good place to point out that some studies have found a large placebo effect with tooth whiteners, noting that people given a sham "whitener" claim to see an improvement. Plus, a product containing peroxide can produce a better result in only two weeks. We checked Amazon.com and Epinions to find out what consumers have to say about over-the-counter tooth whitening methods. Crest Whitestrips wins the best comments for convenience and effectiveness. The most common complaints for all tooth-whitening products are sensitivity (which goes away after stopping product use) and "goopy" or bad-tasting gels. Important Features: Teeth-whitening products Experts say to remember the following when choosing a tooth whitener: * The ADA recommends discussing the options with your dentist and choosing a dentist-supervised whitening plan. * Bleaching effectiveness is directly related to percent of peroxide and length of time it's in contact with your teeth. Over-the-counter tooth whitening products generally contain no more than 6% peroxide. Professional teeth whitening processes can use up to 43% peroxide. * Bleaching works best for yellow teeth, not as well for gray teeth. * Crowns, fillings and dental veneers aren't affected by lightening products -- something to keep in mind if you have a prominent crown or bridge. * Some experts say pregnant women should avoid tooth whiteners. While there are no specific studies to suggest there's a risk to the fetus, some dentists note that minor complications, such as swallowing a small amount of the chemicals, might be a concern to fetal development. While some experts insist that bleaching is safe for everyone, other say pregnant women are better off waiting until after they've given birth. Baby boomers have become a huge market for teeth whiteners because teeth yellow naturally as we age. The effect can be exacerbated by smoking, as well as by drinking coffee, tea and red wine. The most effective teeth-whitening agents use peroxide (hydrogen or carbamide) to bleach the deep layers of teeth, where toothpastes can't reach. The whitening process usually requires daily application for up to two weeks, but light therapy can be used in the dentist's office along with peroxide to speed things up, shortening the bleaching process to as little as one hour. Experts say bleaching works best for yellow stains, and that gray teeth, which can result from certain antibiotics, are much harder to whiten. A recent fear that the peroxide used in tooth whiteners is linked to oral cancer has been refuted by research, and experts say there's no danger as long as tooth whiteners are used as directed. Teeth whitening can cause tooth and gum sensitivity, but experts say this is a normal side effect that disappears after treatment ends. Many of the reviewers represented in our All Reviews chart test one sample from each of the different types of teeth-whitening kits and services and then determine which method produces the greatest effect with the least inconvenience. We also looked to research abstracts presented at the annual General Session of the International Association for Dental Research, where dental scientists tested specific whitening products (primarily Crest and Colgate) against each other. The manufacturers sponsored some of these studies. In those cases, we found it interesting that the study result almost always favored the manufacturer funding the study. However, the findings did show that the effectiveness of tooth-whitening products depends largely on the percentage of peroxide in the product combined with the length of time the product is in contact with teeth, which is the same conclusion drawn by other experts and reviewers.

Teeth Whitening?
Does anyone know any teeth whitening products that you can buy that whiten your teeth from chemist/shop in the UK?
--------------------
One popular tooth whitening product that you can use is bleaching solution that contains peroxide for bleaching tooth enamel. The bleaching agent in these products is usually carbamide peroxide, which is available in 10, 16 and 22 percent concentrations. Whiteners that contain peroxide typically come in gel form and are placed in a mouthguard. Some products are used twice a day for 2 weeks while others are intended for overnight use for a 1 to 2 weeks period. If you can obtain the bleaching solution from your dentist, he will be able to construct a custom mouth guard to fit your teeth precisely. Currently, the American Dental Association endorses only dentist-dispensed home-use percent carbamide peroxide tray-applied gels. In addition to bleaching solution, whitening strips are increasingly being used as a preferred tooth whitening product. For instance, you are now able to get your hands on a set of Crest Whitestrips Supreme from any convenience store. The flexible, invisible strips are coated with an enamel-safe tooth bleaching gel. To whiten your teeth, you simply place the strips on your teeth and wear them for about 15 to 30 minutes each day. After a period of about 21 days, you should be able to see a significant difference on the brightness of your teeth.
