Teeth Whitening Tips?

I would like to whiten my teeth naturally and not artificially and I would not like to buy any products any tips?
--------------------
Gargle Hydrogen Peroxide once a day BEFORE you brush your teeth (wait 5 minutes before brushing). It will taste gross, but its 99 cents at CVS....

Can I use dental whitening gel on bonded teeth?

The gel is 21%, if it makes a difference.
--------------------
No, you should not use it. While it would not harm the bonding, it wouldn't whiten it either. It only whitens the real teeth. It can leave you with bright real teeth and darker bonding. It would not be attractive.

Teeth Whitening Kits/Remedies that actually work?

Crest Whitening Strips (including Premium) did nothing for me, 4 boxes later. Are the other kits better? Or maybe those kits are for people with white teeth already who just want a lil pearly boost? Is there anything else I can try at home to make my teeth less yellow? I dont drink coffee or smoke or drink too many sodas. Im paying the price for not caring for them when I was a kid. They have been yellow for the past 13 years. I cant afford professional bleaching just yet. So any remedies, even unsafe remedies, please share! Also, do the dental school's do whitening at a discount or is that just cavities and such?
--------------------
Most people's teeth are not white - they usually have slight yellow or grey in them. My cousin has naturally very white teeth but most people's arent that white. Hollywood stars, models and celebrities mainly have crowned teeth. You could save up and go to the denist and have the bleaching treatment. Dont wreck you teeth using some noxious stuff. They are to chew your food with, and you could damage them permanently. Notice other peoples teeth - they are not that white. I'm not sure if dental schools do bleaching treatment you could phone and ask. When you have some money you could have them crowned or veneers put on veneers are cheaper and you can have them done a couple at a time. They look really good and more natural than crowns

Teeth Bleaching/ Whitening gel painful! Is this normal?

I purchased some Plus white teeth whitening gel at my local drug store because although my teeth are white I wanted them to be sparkling and perfect... So then I put it on...And the first 3 days were fine... but today it was burning my gums and when I took a breathe in a sharp sensitivity that was strong gave me a sensitive pain in my tooth! And finally my gums were bleached but the came back to normal.... Is this normal? I think it made some of my teeth more sensitive... and My gums are a little sore still... Here are the ingredients of the product- WATER,POLOXAMER 407,GLYCERIN,HYDROGEN PEROXIDE,METHYL SALICATE,SODIUM SACCARIN,PHOSPHORIC ACID.
--------------------
Some OTC whitening agents can be very dangerous if used improperly or too long. Many are too strong for an OTC product (in my opinion!) Hydrogen Peroxide will burn tissue. Try putting a drop of hydrogen peroxide on your finger...it will turn white. That's a chemical BURN! This is what is making your gums sore, you have burned them chemically. Phosphoric Acid is what we dentists use to DISSOLVE tooth enamel. Yes, it will eat away at your enamel! This is what is making your teeth sensitive. You have opened tiny holes in the exposed root surface (called dentin tubules) They communicate with the nerve and that it why your teeth are sensitive. Stop using the product immediately. Rinse with warm salt water for a few days and brush very gently. You can also use Sensodyne toothpaste to "close" the tiny holes and diminish the sensitivity. This why we as dentists try to encourage people not to whiten on their own. Some of these products can be damaging. The ones that are safe, like Crest WhiteStrips are such a low concentration that they take a long time to work. In 20 years of practicing dentistry, I have found the most effective and safest products are the whitening gels (10-15% carbamide peroxide, a safer form of hydrogen peroxide) placed in a custom-made tray (made by your dentist) which allows you to keep the gel off your gums so that they do not burn. These gels also DO NOT contain phosphoric acid! I find this concentration gel works the best for most people and causes the least sensitivity. And, once you pay to have the trays made by your dentist (usually around $200) then the gel is cheap. The trays can last a lifetime if you take good care of them. so, the cost ends up being less than most of these OTC products. If the pain lasts more than a couple of days, see your dentist. Good luck, Dr. Paul

Best way to whiten teeth? whitening products, do they hurt?

What are some really good teeth whitening products I can use? Also, I have one tooth that's out of alignment and starting to get hidden behind on of the other teeth (hopefully I can get Invisline braces after I graduate college) so would the strips kind still work alright on that tooth? Or should I get paste or gel kind? And i've heard these products can make teeth sensitive..is this just temporary, or can it be damaging? And does using baking soda really help? Baking soda toothpaste doesn't do crap, but how about straight baking soda?
--------------------
I am currently using Rembrandt's Professional White. It is a gel that you leave on your teeth for twenty minutes max every night. It isn't awful at all and I have had no side effects. As for the braces, I am a college student and have been wearing invisalign for almost a year now. There are not noticeable and for small changes like just one tooth out of line it is a simple task. Also if you do end up getting invisalign, they work as whitening trays. Every night I just put the rembrandt whitening gel into my liners and leave it in overnight. In the morning it rinses out fine and I straightened and whitened my teeth all at the same time.

How to whiten my teeth naturally?

I have heard that baking soda works to whiten teeth but is it okay to use that with caps on my teeth and I use a retainer every night? Or is there any other ways of whitening my teeth naturally? Thanks
--------------------
If by "naturally" you mean without peroxide, then you can TRY baking soda, but to be completely honest, you will NOT notice a very dramatic effect...maybe a 1/2 shade lighter? Further, if you have caps, ANY whitening procedure/process probably won't HURT them...however, caps (and bonded composite fillings of any sort) will NOT whiten at all! If you intend to do any whitening, go ahead and do it, get teeth as white as you can and then you'd have to replace bonding/caps w/ new ones to match the new color. let me know if you still have questions! good luck!

Teeth whitening/bleaching kits?

I am getting married in August and would like to know of any tooth whitening/bleaching kits that really work. I live in England. Or how much do dentists charge to bleach them?
--------------------
I've done both home bleaching and ones at the dentist. I found that the dentist's really got deep down stains and was permanent even though I didn't get the results I expected. It didn't look drastically different like I had wanted, but my dentist said it was, "More natural looking that those fake bright white blinding teeth." Ugh lol. That treatment was a few hundred dollars, not bad. But once or twice a year I use like 2 weeks worth of Crest White Strips and those really seem to do the trick too. Although if you have sensitive gums you might want to watch out, they can make them a little raw for a few days. But they don't bother me much. Not sure if they have these in England though. Sorry if I wasn't much help.

has any1 used rapid white teeth whitening brightstick?

has any1 used rapid white bright stick brush on?? does it really work ... does it really whiten ur teeth my teeth r white but i want tht hollywood actors kinda smile... my frnd used crest strips n it worked but she got them from the states n we dont have em in my area ..... this rapid white claims to whiten teeth in 7 days upto 3 shades... while the crest one took her a month ...
--------------------
Here are many ways that you can whitening your teeth! For home remedies. Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to form toothpaste. Brush the teeth regularly with this paste. It will remove all stains in a month. Use bicarbonate of soda 5 minutes before brushing the teeth with normal toothpaste in the morning. This is a good home remedy for teeth whitening. Rubbing the bark of walnut tree on the teeth helps in removing all stains from the teeth. Strawberries are considered natural teeth whiteners. Rubbing the teeth with strawberries daily will remove all the stains. If you would like a suggestion on tooth whitening gel, here's something for you! Crest Night Effects Whitening Gel (about $18.00) allows you to remove stains while you sleep. The tooth whitening system has a fresh, wintergreen flavor. After fourteen days of sleeping with this product on your teeth, you will wake up to a vibrant smile. You should see results in two days, although there are reports of tooth whitening results in one night More on http://www.toothwhiteningproductreview.c…

You need: 1 ripe strawberry 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Directions: Crush the strawberry to a pulp, then mix with the baking soda until blended. Use a soft toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth. Leave on for 5 minutes, then brush thoroughly with toothpaste to remove the berry–baking soda mix. Rinse. (A little floss will help get rid of any strawberry seeds.) you can apply once a week

How can you whiten your teeth..NatRuaLLy, w/o those whitening products, etc.?

Why does you teeth get yellow even though you brush your teeth everyday and eat healthy?
--------------------
Brusing your teeth too much or too hard will actually make your teeth yellower. The dentine beneath your enamel (the hard, pearly, transluscent outer layer of the teeth) is yellow. The more enamel you remove, the more the yellow dentine can be seen. Many whitening treatments (such as whitening toothpastes) whiten with abrasives. This type of whitening only works to remove surface stains like coffee and cigarette stains and it will actually increase the rate at which you remove your enamel and show more yellow dentine. To slow this process use a soft bristed toothbrush and a soft brushing action. Use a non-whitening, low-abrasive toothpaste. The only way to whiten the dentine at home is with a tooth bleaching solution of some sort. They generally contain some sort of peroxide. These treatments unfortunately can make your teeth more sensitive. If you use one I suggest you use it in conjunction with GC Tooth Mousse or a toothpaste for sensitive teeth to help prevent sensitivity occuring. -------------- Note: I read the info provided in that link from Geevi a. I would strongly advise that you do not brush your teeth immediately after using the strawberry treatment. The malic acid will remove mineral from your tooth enamel leaving it soft and highly susceptible to toothbrush abrasion. You should rinse thoughroughly with water to remove any acid remaining in your mouth and then chew sugar-free gum to enhance saliva production. The saliva will help remineralize your enamel. You should wait at least an hour before brushing.

which drugstore tooth whitening product is the best?

my teeth are pretty yellow; actually they are noticeably yellow and i was thinking of using a drugstore package to whiten them. i heard the whitening strips are terrible, dont work, and are painful but i heard the aquafresh whitening trays pro gentel system is effective. honestly the pain doesn't really matter. i just want to see my teeth dramatically whiter but done in a safer enamel-safe way . what product do you think works the best for you?
--------------------
Honestly, I think Crest and Aquafresh are both great. I have more experience with Crest but have heard great things about the Aquafresh trays. Both of these are so easy to use and are so convenient. They are also nice because I can see a difference in the shade of my teeth within just a few days of using them. Give one of them a try and your smile will be brighter before you know it!

Teeth Whitening That's Affordable?

What is the best product that will whiten my teeth? I just got rid of braces and I have these little yellow squares on my teeth and they are not at all attractive. And my teeth have never really been white. Anything that is affordable. I can buy in stores. (NOT ONLINE) And has great results. Thanks a bunch!! -Blake(:
--------------------
When I got my braces off my dentist recommended Crest Whitening Strips. I bought them and I didn't even finish the treatment. I saw my teeth whitening everyday, it was awesome! When I bought it it was around $30 at Target. I should get them again, I've taken up drinking coffee :(

Teeth whitening creams...? Please help!?

Do they work, and do they wreck your teeth at all? I'm talking about the ones like colgate that claim to whiten your teeth by 7 shades in 5 days or something, it's a cream that you put on your teeth before you sleep... Thanks.
--------------------
Try to stay away from those creams that you should leave on your teeth during the night - dentists say those are unhealthy for your teeth. Try something else that is not so aggressive. You can also try bleaching teeth at home. There's huge amount of info about it online.

Is there any good whitening product for fillings?

Is there even an at-home teeth whitening product for teeth that have been rebuilt, because my sister uses a few and says that you can't use them on teeth with fillings?
--------------------
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you cannot whiten fillings. The amalgam type (silver) are made of metal, while you may be able to *shine* them, they will not become white. And the composite fillings (white, or tooth-colored) are made of a material that are like porcelain; and they cannot be whitened. The actual tooth around the composite CAN be whitened, but not the filling itself. If it is very important to you, you can bleach your teeth to the color that you want them t remain (and continue to bleach to maintain that color) Then go to your dentist and have him or her remove the composite filling and refill with a composite that matches your new color Good luck!!!!!

Teeth whitening?! Trays?

So my mom won't let me get my teeth bleached so I'm compromising with whitening TRAYS..not strips. Which ones are best?? Thanks so much!
--------------------
Use a bottle of hydrogen peroxide 3%. Its waaaaaay cheaper. Fill the cap of the bottle with peroxide. Sip into mouth. Fill the cap of the bottle with water. Sip into mouth. Swish around and hold in mouth for about 10minutes. Do this once or twice a day. You wont see fast amazing results but it will whiten your teeth some. Super white teeth are fake anyway, keep it semi-natural.
