I'm just curious, I obviously know this is a pretty stupid question, and a very bad idea. But really, what are the risks of using actual bleach to whiten your teeth? If you were just to dab it onto a q-tip or something, and made sure nothing touched your tongue/gums etc. I'm sure it would work grrreat! if it didnt kill you before you got to see the results :P thanks -Jenn

Well over looking the obvious fact that bleach can kill you, drip some on some clothing and watch it eat through the cloth, no imagin it touching your gums/ lips/tongue, the same effect would happen...it would eat through your tissues, and there really is no way to prevent it from touching those areas, even using a q-tip, cause if you close you mouth your lips will touch it....peroxide does work, but you have to dilute it, not swallow it, and make sure you don't let it touch to many tissues, as well...the best way to whiten is to see your dentist and see what they have to offer. or what they can suggest to you that would work best for yoyr teeth

What is the best tooth whitening procedure that you would get from a dentist?
Dentist wants me to pay $1100 for her recommended procedure. Mean ol' money-grubbin' ... Feh, I'm just cheap. Insurance won't cover it, but I want to get it done professionally.

The office I work at offers both for a total of $360. I think that is pretty reasonable. Pretty much all in office procedures are the same (Britesmile, Zoom, etc.) they all have the same end result. When you also have the trays to take home you can also bump up the whitening of your teeth to a lighter shade, in less time. (compared to just the trays alone) Personally I wouldn't pay $1100. Try the Crest strips first, they may not get your teeth as white as the dentists procedure, but they may get them white enough for you!

Does brushing your teeth with bicarbonate of soda (baking powder) actually take off the stains?
And if so, why do people spend so much money on teeth-whitening products when they could get a tub of baking soda for around 50p? Also, is it safe to use in this way?

whitening teeth with braces?
Hi, I got my braces two weeks ago, and I was so stupid that I forgot I wasn't supposed to drink dark tea while having my braces!! I only have them on the lower teeth, today I was flossing in front of the mirror with natural light and I saw that my lower front teeth were the braces are are all yellow!!!!! I brusehd like 3 times after that but it doesn't come off! :( what can I do to remove the yellow stains? I don't think it's on my teeth but on the glue they use to place the brakets, but still it looks horrible! can you help me pls?

How do I use baking soda and lemon juice to whiten my teeth?
I want to whiten my teeth, since my front ones are quite yellow, but my baby teeth are still pearly white! I've heard that you can use lemon juice and baking soda to whiten your teeth, but how? Do you use them to make a paste and put it on your teeth for a bit, or...? I don't want to use peroxide for some rather strange personal reasons, and I don't want to use crest white strips since my friend who used them advised me against it aswell as several others.

I don't know if I would use lemon juice; the acid can erode the enamel on your teeth. My dentist advised me to use peroxide and baking soda by dampening the brush with the peroxide, then dipping it in the baking soda and brushing. You might try it with lemon juice if you like, but I wouldn't do it daily.

Can whitening strips be worn under retainers?
I'm getting my braces off in a few days and I want to whiten my teeth to top everything off. I don't want to spend the money on professional whitening, so I was wondering if wearing strips under retainers would have any adverse effects.

You should better consult dentist and get your teeth bleached out to whiten them. There are different types of bleaching like home technique and office technique etc. It definitely works, if it doesn't work then you can get your anterior teeth crowned which will also show your teeth white.

i use whitening toothpaste, whitening mouthwash, i floss, and i brush about 3 times a day. i have been doing this for at least 3 weeks and im not seeing any major results? my teeth weren't even that yellow. i have also done the rinsing with peroxide and water, also tried some of my friends crest white strips 3 times but i dont want to pay for those. anyone know what i can do?

i have braces, and i want to whiten my teeth, but if i use a gel or something it will leave a square of a different shade of color, on my teeth. before i got braces, i used a whitening mouth wash, so i don't know if you can whiten your teeth or not with braces.
