The strength or concentration of whitening agent is much too low to have a substantial effect. They also don't cover enough surface area to do a good job and do not get interproximally, as you already stated. And your saliva serves to inactivate and dilute the action. Try bleaching trays with prescription strength bleach (22% carbamide peroxide) or pay for an in-office powerbleach like Zoom or Brite-White. Just remember, crowns and white-colored fillings don't bleach, so you may have to redo the restorations or be very cautious not to overbleach. And be careful not to create microporosities in the enamel; this will damage your teeth.

Poor woman seeks advice on teeth whitening ?
I have been to my dentist today and have been advised to use pola night teeth whitening to whiten my teeth as this treatment is very, very effective, they told me pola night would make me look like a model, however... Does anyone know how I can whiten my teeth without using this dental bleach as I am on income support and can not afford this treatment from them as they told me to buy this pola night teeth whitening will set me back £290, I would love to try this polanight teeth whitening product but can not afford it from my dentist. Does anyone have an answer: How I can whiten my teeth at home without paying out any money ?? Please help me, as I need some teeth whitening as I have very bad teeth stains as I have been eating too many take aways, ( curry and piza most nights etc..), plus my 60 aday cigs and my 5 bottles of red wine wine that I get from m&s. does make my teeth look rather yellow. Please do offer me some advice on how my teeth can look white again without buying these products as I am on very low income support, not to mention that I have 6 children to feed etc and this does not come cheap ! Cheap at home remedy for whitening teeth?

Rubbing coal on your teeth is supposed to seriously whiten your teeth but i would not advise trying that, sounds like it would hurt and yeah sounds horrible.....but i would try Crest Vivid White toothpaste. I used it and it did whiten my teeth, it helps to remove surface stains and works in like 2 weeks. White strips also work but they can be pricey, so it depends on how bad you want to do it. I had braces, will whitening my teeth leave squares?
About 2 yrs ago I finally got my braces removed. I have to say my dentist didn't do that good of a job cleaning the glue off. I can still feel the glue on several of my teeth. He basically just filed each section of glue down so it wasn't so thick. I really want to have some type of teeth whitening procedure done but I'm worried about having yellow spots from the glue. What should I do?

Teeth whitening make teeth translucent at ends?
I whitened my teeth about 6 years ago and they were WHITE but now they are not quite so white and are a little bit translucent on the ends from the bleaching. If I whitened them not so intensely, say with Crest whitestrips or something like that, would this make my teeth more translucent? Anybody experience anything similiar? THanks a lot!

Your teeth are probably badly damaged by now, but if you use normal toothpaste, you can still keep your teeth as healthy as possible, as long as it is not some dodgy tooth whitening one. I always thought if you want to whiten your teeth, brush more times a day with normal paste. Im guessing that the enamel on your teeth is wearing out? Im not a doctor, im probably wrong.....
