I had braces for 6 years...yeah a long time I know. OK so I've tried Crest whitestrips AND Rembrandt 2-Hour Whitening, and nothing seems to work! It's not that my teeth are dirty, they're just yellow. Is there any option besides going to the dentist to pay all the money to have them professionally whitened? well zoom is about 350 dollars and is a good investment.. works great I think my teeth glowed in the dark. . instead of wasting 20 dollars here and there just save for it.. its worth it.. its your smile... The fastest way is a light activated gel system done right at your dentist's office. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half. Instant results. It's also the most expensive at around $500-600. Another great method is whitening trays. An impression is taken of your teeth at your dentist's office and trays are made of a rubber type material to fit your mouth only. You put a gel inside the trays and wear them overnight for 2-3 weeks. This cost anywhere from $250-$400. If you are looking for a cheap method the crest whitestrips are an ok choice too. You wear them 2 times a day for 30 minutes. The number of weeks depends on which type you buy. My recommendation is go to a dentist's office and buy them there. they definately do whiten your teeth. you can get kits ordered over the internet much cheaper than at the dentist (you take the impression of your teeth and send it back to them to make the trays), but maybe not as super white as the pictures will have you believe! i had some stains which needed to be polished off at the dentist as well. i know that it doesn't work on crowns (my dad whitened his teeth but the crowned tooth stayed yellow), but i'm not sure about dentures -best check with a denture clinic first incase you waste your money. my dentist says that all teeth will gradually yellow over time. i believe yellowing is increased with smoking, coffee etc. but some people are just luckier than others.

Is it OK to use teeth whitening solution in a retainer?
I got my braces off today and was given a clear, plastic retainer to wear at nights. Would it harm the plastic if I were to put teeth whitening solution in the plastic retainer and wear it over night?

What is Britesmile teeth whitening's effect on dental fillings?
I have an appt this monday to get my teeth whitened via Britesmile. I read that fillings do not take to the whitening. However, I have a filling in my front tooth that matches the current color of my teeth. After the whitening will my front tooth be two different colors? So basically you won't really know until you have it done, and if you're not happy with how it turns out you would have to get the fillings replaced to make them match.
