teeth turning gray anyone know why?

I started using the target brand teeth whitening and i noticed the inside on my bottom front teeth are turning gray in between. ive used other teeth whiting kits and this has never happened. i tried to scrape it off but its like stuck onto my tooth I dont drink soda maybe a can a week. Anyone know what i could do to get this to stop?

You either have stain, tartar, or a cavity started in the area. Stain and tartar can be handled by the hygienist. A cavity can be filled by the dentist with a bonded composite filling.

has anyone had this done? after my braces are removed I'm having my teeth whitened have?

I have 2 bonded teeth in front . The dentists said he could bleach my other teeth then put bonding to match my other teeth. Has anyone had this done.?
--------------------
yer i did, because my braces were on for ages they were whiter underneath than my other teeth...its a simple procedure if its the same, so dw!

What is the best whitening toothpaste?

please no answers like well the only to whiten teeth is by going to the dentist or something like that what product on the shelves is good for removing stains and brightening teeth and i don't wanna use baking soda
--------------------
The Arm and Hammer Toothpaste with Baking Soda works really good.. you can find it right by the other toothpastes. It looks and tastes normal too, and whitens super fast! I also used Sensodyne Ultra White with pretty good results. But the Arm and Hammer Baking Soda one is my favorite!

Who has had tooth whitening and is it worth £600.?

I have already tried cheaper methods and they were not very good. I would like to try the Brite Smile method where the dentist uses a blue light but am curious to hear from people who have had any procedure.UK only please.
--------------------
hi, I am a registered dental nurse and have been practising for 18 years...so the best tooth whitening method in my opinion is the one prescribed by a dentist and used in the home enviroment such as opalescence. This consists of having impressions taken of top or bottom jaw or both depending on what you wish to be bleached,a custom made tray is then manufactured to fit your mouth. In this tray in the comfort of your own home you place the tooth whitening product and wear for a minimum of 3 hours, most people tend to wear them over night and dont find them too uncomfortable.A trip back to the dentist up to 2 wks after initial whitening is normally required to check progress against the starting shade. The final shade reached is purely up to the wearer but it is important to note that once you stop "bleaching" there will be a small "bounce back" of colour as the effect of the whitening gel is to slightly dehydrate the tooth substance therefore making them look whiter. Also it is important to know that white composite fillings do not bleach as do not crown bridge work etc!so if you have any of those they will look darker in comparison. If you find after a few months or in most cases I have dealt with a year the teeth start to darken again you simply top up with more gel as you already have the trays. This normally depends on your diet, red wine, coffee etc!The initial ste up costs range from £250 to £300.This would be my prefered method as the "in chair" whitening system is quick the colour tends not to be as stable and they send you home with gel anyway. Also you have more control in which shade you end up with. The light I believe has the effect of heating the gel and making the process faster.Again I would prefer the gel as this I would think is gentler on the tooth....hope this helps

About how long will it take for my teeth to become noticeably whiter?

My teeth aren't yellow, but they're not really white, either. If I brush 3 times a day with whitening toothpaste & mouthwash, about how long will it take for my teeth to be noticeably whiter?
--------------------
Hi, My Wife had problems of yellow teeth and stains. She is in to modeling and a bright smile is very important for her. We tried lot of products but none of them really worked. Trays gave her irritation and pain...There are many teeth whiteners but none worked for her....Lot of visits to dentists only wasted time and money. A few weeks ago I was lucky to find a something, this was like a miracle. My wife is now very happy as she has white teeth. The best part is the ease of use. I have explained in more details about this at http://www.squidoo.com/teeth-whitening-s… Every person who wants white teeth SHOULD read it. I am not endorsing any product here. Its something that has worked for me and I wanna help people have white teeth without spending lot of money.

How can I make my teeth whiter without going to a dentist?

My teeth are kinda yellow... not noticable but i can see it and it drives me insane! I use colgate whitening toothpaste, and dont really use mouthwash cause the last one i used i was allergic too! is there any tips, tricks and products (cheap available ones!!) that you can reccomend? and how long before results show.. all answers appreciated!! =]
--------------------
Brush them (gently) with baking soda. Do it a few times a week, it will probably make your teeth sensitive. Also, make sure if you drink soda or teas you only drink them through a straw, if you can't cut them out all together. Avoid coffee as well.

Better to use baking powder or salt to whiten teeth?

also, how often can you brush with it to avoid too much damage to the enamel??
--------------------
Baking soda. Use it once a week or once every 2 weeks. Salt is good to alternate just to kill bacteria that grows under the gum line and keep you from developing gum disease. What good is it to have white teeth if your gums are bad?

What's the best way to whiten my teeth?

I brush regularly, as much as dentists recommend, and use mouthwash each time I brush. How do I make my teeth whiter, other than those strips that cost a bunch? Does anyone have any old tricks that are inexpensive?
--------------------
consult a dental expert before choosing an at-home teeth whitening system that has quality ingredients that can deliver safe and effective whiter teeth results in just a matter of time. discolored and stained teeth are caused by the food you eat and the drinks that you take in. be wary that the most common culprits that can stain teeth are colas, coffee, tea, chocolates, sauces, plum, red wine, etc. try to avoid these culprits if you want to maintain white teeth. the use of straw when drinking colas and iced tea will be much helpful. for more tips on how to whiten teeth visit http://www.trustedhealthproducts.com

how to whiten teeth besides baking soda?

every ones says to use baking soda but it loses enamel so what do i do.
--------------------
unfortunately, anyhting you do to whiten your teeth will wear away your enamel. teeth are whitened by layers of enamel being taken off. Baking soda will probably do the least damage to your teeth opposed to Crest white strips or other drugstore kits.

i just bought a Crest whitening strips, and it doesnt cover the whole teeth??:?

hi,i just bought a Crest whitening premium plus whitening, and well, i opened the top 1 first, and put it on, but it doesnt cover everything, just like the front teeth, same with the bottom ones. cuz this way, it will make only the front teeth whiter and the sides would be like yellow? also, just to make sure, u take off the plastic and throw it out, and from wuts left, u stick the side that has the gel on ur teeth right? and do they actually work? any other tips i should know? lol thanks, hope to hear soon
--------------------
That is the way they are supposed to be. when you put them on, leave them for 30 minutes than take them off, I always brush my teeth to get rid of the extra gel.

whats the cheapest and safest way to whiten teeth?

i wanna whiten my teeth like 8 shades, but i dont wanna pay $800.00 plus dollars, theres gotta be a better way??? anyone know of some reliable product that can achieve this result without costing an arm and a leg???? thanks
--------------------
First I would recommend that you consider having a dental cleaning and exam. If you have buildup (tartar, plaque, stain) the whitening process won't work that well. The crest whitestrips work well and are probably your lowest cost alternative. We sell them in my office ($75.00) and they are 3 times stronger than what are sold at drugstores and there are 3 weeks worth. I like them because they work better and if you are happy with how they look 1/2 way thru the process you just hold onto the rest and you have more to do a "touch up" 6 months later. Good luck! Your brown teeth and your sisters could be due to taking anti biotics. Eventually your teeth will return to their normal colour, however this may take a couple of years.

teeth gel . Some ideas for teeth gel? im losing hope?

I have braces right now but i am getting them off soon so I'm looking for best tooth whitening ideas...I want to have really white teeth when i get them off. Also I have crest whitestrips...do they work? Or are there any best tooth whitening items I can use for white teeth?
--------------------
My teeth aren't celebrity white, but I've used whitening strips before and they worked for awhile when I was looking for a how to whiten teeth solution. Later I tried whitening kits and I loved it. I finally listened to my sister and I hated myself for not trying it sooner. You can get them at target, walmart and those type of stores. You can also get them online with the free trials they have. I actually got mines online and they work great. I provided the place where I got mines below on the source. I also try to avoid things that will stain my teeth. Usually when it comes to drinks like coffee or soda, drinking it with a straw should keep it from staining your teeth.

teeth whiteners that work and dont work?

im interested in buying a teeth whitening product, but i dont know which ones work and which dont....what would you recommend and not recommend?? thanks
--------------------
Over the counter whitening strips work well at removing surface stains like tea and coffee, but they don't work great if you dental cleaning is over due. I prefer either Rembrandt white strips b/c they have a foam guard that is easy to wear or the new Crest white strips that grip better than the old ones. This is great for a slight change to get rid of years of coffee, tea, cola, wine, and tobacco. If you don't have a lot of these stainings you need professional whitening. To save money use take home kits from your dentist. They make you trays and you do it at home. Whitening lights are a waste of money, but in office paint on gel is the strongest and fastest way to do it but more expensive.

Whats the cheapest way to whiten my teeth?

I used to have really white teeth but now they are quite yellow and I have some silver fillings that seem to have turned black..Please Help
--------------------
Do not use whitening toothpaste or baking soda, it actually damages your teeth by scratching the surface of them, making little scratches for the staining to stay. Do not buy any 'whitening kits' off the street. You need to visit a dental practice where a dentist can help with any questions you may have and can monitor the whitening if you choose to have it. Your dentist may not even recommend you have it done but you may just need a simple scale and polish (which is alot less money lol) Home whitening from your dentist is simple and easy enough to use. First your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and send them to a lab. It should take approximately 1 week to made replica clear brace like moulds. These will be made of a rubber like material and will fit exact to your teeth. Your dentist will show you how to place the bleaching gel into the trays. They normally advise that you wear the trays for at least 6 hours a day for it to work. I would say if you can wear them at night when you are just going to bed and sleep with them in. This way it does not disrupt your lifestyle during the day. This in the practice i work at cost £300 for top and bottom jaw plus the bleaching gel. We give enough gel to last approximately 2/3 weeks. You can purchase more at your dentist. You can also have in surgery whitening. This will be a longer appointment of about 1-1 1/2 hours. Your cheeks will be retracted and gel will be placed onto your teeth, you will then be sitting under a light for about the time i said. This costs a bit more at £650. I work in a dentist and we only get very few people who say it was not for them. Sensitivity is the main reason for stopping as any of the methods will cause this. You can use sensodyne toothpaste to help with this. As for the silver fillings which have turned your teeth 'black' this is not entirely true. What has happened is your the wall of your tooth is very thin and you can just see the silver filling. The best way to get rid of this is to either have a compisite filling (white filling) which might not be be suitable. Or to have a crown on the tooth. The crown should last about 7-10 years if looked after. Hope i have helped. Sorry about the essay! :)

best way to whiten teeth cheap and fast?

i whiter teeth fast!! any tips or products that are cheap!

Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries but certain precautions have to be taken. I found the information at http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html

Where sells tooth whitening strips?

Hello, does anyone know where I can find the tooth whitening strips like Crest White Strips, Listerine Whitening Strips or Maclean's Brilliant White Dental Whitening Strips etc. in Sydney?? I went Priceline, Cloes and another local chemist, but couldn't found any of them. Thank you very much.
--------------------
I started using baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to whiten my teeth. I dip my toothbrush in the baking soda amd then add two drops of hydrogen peroxide and brush for a minute or two. You should only do it once a week. In my opinion it works better than whiteners and is a lot cheaper.
