how do make my teeth white as a smoker?
id like to whiten my teeth but i drink a gallon of iced tea a day and smoke about a pack a day so this isnt helping my case, anybody know of any ways to whiten teeth? i already brush my teeth three times a day.

How can I whiten my teeth w/o buying anything expensive?
I use Colgate or Auquafina toothpaste (depending on my mom's or dad's house), I floss in the mornings, and occasionally use mouthwash. If I do use mouthwash, It's either listerine or store-brand fry's (again depending on my mom's or dad's house). I cant change what they buy and i'd rather not spend my money. I heard u can use baking soda? Can someone give me ideas.

I wante dto do that also, and I bought the toothpastes that said whitenner, but I want to share with you the faults so you have a chance before doing what I did. I kept getting pain in my gums-I've never had anything wrong with my teeth in my life-no cavitees ever, no braces, nodda. I go see the dentist and they tell me that whitenner causes the nerves to start showing up above the gumlines. Those nerves never go back inside. It's painful when it acts up. I now have to buy sensodyne. ouch. so just remember when you try any chemicals that are burning the yellows off teeth, they will also burn the gums slowly. I didn't even have anything I should have been worying about-so if you don't either, I'd say skip it.

Teeth won't whiten past a certain point...???
I bought a home tray whitning system from the store and have used it for about two weeks (it sais it should work in one week). And I can't get the teeth whitened past the point they are now. What should I do to get them whitened further? Do I have to get the in pffoce whitening done?

I use the Arm and Hammer whitening toothpaste and then I also bought the Colgate Tooth Whitening kit, it's not expensive and it works great. It comes with a mouth wash, whitening gel and a tray that fits over your teeth that you put the gel in. I put the gel in the tray, then put the tray in my mouth, jump in take a shower and by the time I am finished with my shower it's time to rinse my mouth. Make sure you are brushing your teeth at least twice a day. I recommend brushing after every meal. But use the tooth whitening kit twice a day as well. Good Luck !!!

how do you whiten teeth without spending too much money?
i need to whiten my teeth before senior pictures and i have tried to use the crest white strips but the ones that i have have to stay on for 30 minutes! and it takes way to long, not to mention they taste really gross! please give me some suggestions of things that you have tried and things that work but dont cost too much! thanks! :)

Does getting your teeth professionally whitened hurt?
i'm getting my braces off and i want to get my teeth whitened. But ive heard it hurts....if you've had it done please tell me if it really does hurt and for a short or long time. tell me everything you know. thanks

And don't listen to the first poster. That is completely wrong. I got mine whitened in December and they still look great. is this a normal side affect after you whiten your teeth?
so yesterday evening whitened my teeth for the suggested amount of time and then went to bed. but the next morning when i woke up there was two weird white spots on my front teeth. they went away after a few hours but is that bad?

I think that is fluorosis. You should be fine. I have white spots on my teeth because my mom used regular toothpaste when I was a toddler. I don't know if they had kids toothpaste then. I'm pretty old

Paste and mouthwash are not very effective to use, You could save some money and just use the strips they are the most effective, but do remember once you start it will be an ongoing maintenance to continue to have that appearance. To answer your question yes it could be because the products actually etch the enamel of the tooth, which wear down the enamel over time.

Are there any effective consumer products that I can use to whiten my teeth? I need to whiten orange stains on my teeth that is caused by chromogenic bacteria such as Serratia marcescens and Flavobacterium lutescens.

The FDA doesn't control "whitening" since it's cosmetic. They will generally say "will get your teeth their natural whitest" Which means, the toothpaste is abrasive and will remove stains. Some "bleaching" toothpastes contain peroxide which will help maintain the color you have or lighten a little.
