I read on the box, after use, that they can cause white spots on teeth. I now notice that I have some. It states on the box that they will go away with continued use. Is this true? I am worried about using them again and getting more white spots on my teeth, anybody use them before or know what I should do? Thanks.
--------------------
theres nothing to worry. at first when u start bleaching ur teeth they will develop spots like that kinda blottchy looking, that means that the bleach is actually working. so as u start to continue bleaching they will go away.

What things can I eat and drink to naturally whiten my teeth?
I don't drink coffee, but I do drink Coke and Dr. Pepper. Is Sprite any better? Also, I don't smoke and never have. One more thing...I hate the taste of plain milk. Any alternatives?
--------------------
Calcium, Drink milk, eat yogurt, cheese, ice cream. Calcium helps strengthen and whiten your teeth. Make sure you brush your teeth too. You mentioned you do not like the taste of plain milk, try a different flavor I have heard of chocolate milk, strawberry milk, vanilla milk, and orange cream milk. You could also make a milkshake.Good luck, I hope this helps answer your question.

How do you whiten your teeth at home with no chemicals?
I want my teeeth to be whiter, simple as that :))
--------------------
If your teeth are stained, baking soda removes the stains. If your teeth are just whatever genetic coloration that they are, then you need tooth bleaches. Tooth bleaches are basically thickened hydrogen peroxide. Regardless of what you try, they will all involve "chemicals"

If I use hydrogen peroxide to whiten my teeth, will it hurt cuts inside my mouth?
Also, how often should I use it? I here you also mix baking soda with it so what is the solution exactly?
--------------------
Hydrogen Peroxide will not hurt the cuts inside your mouth. Actually is will help to heal them for you. I would not use the hydrogen peroxide every day, that may be a little hard on the delicate tissue in you mouth. Hope your teeth get nice and white. I have done that myself, it is a good disinfectant for your mouth also.

How can I whiten my teeth at home?
I have tried the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and it didn't seem to have any effect. If you have any ideas for under 10 dollars that would be great!
--------------------
Get a Colgate 360 Sonic Power. It is really inexpensive, around 4-7$. It seems to work really well, but the first few days may cause bleeding. Also, use mouthwash often.

What's the best way to whiten teeth?
Do you know a good way to whiten teeth using over the counter stuff? What has worked for you? thanks in advance!

go smile or zoom are two different but similiar treatments performed by dentists in their office. takes less than an hour to do and the whitening will last up to 6-8 months depending whether you are a coffee or tea drinker. cost is roughly $399 but you can find specials for $250. any dentist can do this because it is the technicians that do it. crest white strips which you can pick up from costco for the best value is another option that is less expensive. not the same results, but better than what these other people are saying.

How can I get my teeth whitened professionally without a dentist?
I don't mean by anything I can buy at walmart.
--------------------
By definition, getting your teeth whitened "professionally" is done by a dentist. What treatment are you looking for if you're not looking for something you can buy at a store?

While whitening my teeth with "daywhite", I got a bright white spot on one tooth -- how do I correct this
This was my first time using the whitening kit that I got from my dentist. Since neither the dentist not the product labeling (discus dental) even MENTIONED that this could happen, I am asking all of you out there in Answersland for your collective expertise. Is there something that I could "paint" on that spot so it doesn't get any lighter? Same idea as masking fluid used in watercolor painting, if that helps you visualize what I an envisioning, and/or something that would bring the blazing brightness of this one spot Thanks.
--------------------
The likelihood is is that you had this white spot before but it was extremely faint, the tooth whitening process can often increase the whiteness of these spots and make them more visible. There is nothing that you can use to paint on the spot to protect it...when whitening your teeth the bleach will still be absorbed into the tooth and will continue to whiten the area. However after completing the tooth whitening, if it does not fade, it is very simple for your dentist to remove the white spot and replace the area with a very small white composite filling that matches the rest of the tooth. Or if it is very superficial it may polish off by removing a very thin layer of enamel (microabrasion).

Teeth whitening question!?
I was wondering if over the conunter treatments, such as the Crest White strips actually do work. Have any of you tried them? And how long do they last?
--------------------
It depends--do you have a lot of stains on your teeth (coffe, for example)? If you do, then they will HELP. They will show an improvement. The best way is to get a professional cleaning, and commercial teeth whiteners like Crest will remove some of it, but it won't be an amazing fix like commercials will have you believe. Try it and if you aren't happy, see a dentist.

I wouldn't bleach them right away. Definitely get a dental cleaning from your regular dentist. There maybe a residue of cement on the teeth.

I had the BrightSmile done twice. It was $500 and it didn't work as well as I planned. They redid it and still was not as white as I'd liked them to be. They said I could get up to 7 shades lighter, but when they hold the color strips up to your teeth, it's hard to see. I didn't think it was worth the money I spent on it. I bought my son the GoSmile and it was $90.00 and it's worked just as good as the treatmetn I had.

Help! I just used the "Rembrandt whitening plus" gel with trays, and now my teeth looked spotted?
What do I do? This is only my second treatment, I am supposed to do 2 per day for 2 weeks. But my teeth look terrible like this. Has anyone had a similar expirence? If so what can I do to even out the shade?

That's normal for some people. It happened to me too. As you continue to use the whitening gel, the spottiness should go away.

Can baking soda really whiten your teeth? Please only people who have tried it answer.?
How often are you suppose to do it? How do you do it? are you suppose to use hydrogen peroxide w/ it? Does results last a long time? Thank you.

Hi Mimi Baking soda will probably make a difference if your teeth are really stained but you will want to see a dentist before using baking soda or hydrogen peroxide just to have a check up. The dentist can provide some additional over the counter products you can use to whiten your teeth. In addition perhaps a good cleaning at the dental office might be in order. However, the bottom line is "yes". I hope this information has helped you. Before you go to your next dental appointment consider buying an inexpensive dental insurance plan or dental discount plan from a reputable insurance company. http://www.insurancecompany.com is a reliable company specializing in these plans since 1983. They could probably assist you... Regards, Dr. David Blunt

How do I whiten teeth?
Do you now any home recipes or simple things to do? I can't just simply brush my teeth more often, because they were stained from medicine as a child.

What are the reasons for whitening your teeth? Whether by whitening methods or actually getting your teeth clean enough again to be a very bright white, whitening of your teeth can make your whole appearance more attractive and show your pride and self-respect Here are several whitening treatments you can try at home. First, brushing your teeth with baking soda. Get Arm & Hammer or another baking soda brand in a small box especially for use in brushing your teeth. Get your own personal box of baking soda; as you will see, this will help prevent waste and keep you from spreading germs as well. To use the baking soda in brushing, first clean your toothbrush thoroughly. Now, shake your toothbrush fairly dry. Next dip the toothbrush in the baking soda so it is completely covered in the white powder. Now brush your teeth thoroughly, scrubbing all sides. It is not really harmful to brush until there is some slight and occasional bleeding of the gums or from between the teeth. This practice after each and every meal can whiten teeth remarkably in two months. You should then continue this habit throughout your life. Or, try brushing with hydrogen peroxide. You can try brushing with hydrogen peroxide. I would recommend you not swallow any. Put a small puddle of peroxide into a Dixie cup. Cover the brush in peroxide by dipping the brush as you tilt the cup. Now brush thoroughly as with the baking soda. This type of brushing can be done once a day. Spit any fluids; don't swallow at any time while brushing with hydrogen peroxide. Check with the hydrogen peroxide manufacturer for degrees of warning for this use. Though brushing with hydrogen peroxide is in common use, you should be well informed of any concerns there may be given the amount of peroxide that might be used and therefore that there would be any risk of swallowing. Rinse completely after brushing with water and then a good mouthwash. This habit will help whiten teeth in a period of two to three months or more if kept in a daily regimen. Combine baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for a double tough whitening formula. A few drops of hydrogen peroxide mixed with a heaped teaspoon full of baking soda will make a paste adequate to control the further yellowing of teeth and bring back their youthful and lustrous white in just a few months time. Brush thoroughly with this paste after mixing on a tissue or in a Dixie cup. Rinse thoroughly after with water or a good mouthwash such as Listerine. Here are some diet recommendations for proper maintenance of tooth whiteness: Eat more fruits, especially apples, to clean teeth naturally. Stay away from sweets and sugars to keep teeth from decay. Drink tap water to get a good source of fluorides in your diet. Quit smoking and drinking to keep teeth strong and free from yellowing. Drink plenty of water to naturally rinse the mouth throughout the day. Milk is for strong teeth, too. Take a good multiple vitamin such as the time-released brands found at GNC to keep teeth well nurtured from within. General mouth hygiene is a great defense. Brush and floss after every meal. Whether using a combination toothpaste or one of the recommended substitutes above, you should brush and floss thoroughly in the following manner after every meal each and every day. Floss first to loosen food debris logged between teeth. Brush the front and sides of teeth, bottom and top, outside first. Brush them side to side, then up and down, then repeat. Brush the inside surface of all teeth in the same manner as much as mechanics here will allow. Brush the bottoms and tops of upper and lower teeth as well, that being the actual biting and chewing surfaces. Now rinse and, if needed, floss again to make certain you haven't jammed something back between teeth. Check the job thoroughly with a mirror and a smile.

Bi Carb soda, Lemon, or salt to whiten and brighten teeth?
I want to whiten my teeth a little. I have been reading that using bi carb soda, salt or lemon can damage teeth but how often can you use them with out damage.

No Lemon!!! Citric acids damage the teeth enamel......patients that suck on lemons have horrible teeth! Baking soda and salt are pretty much the same..... We reccomend taking a box of baking soda and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and wetting the brush with the peroxide, then dipping it in the baking soda and using that to brush....
