What do you do to whiten your teeth?
I don't really care about the "quick fix" stuff that's highly expensive and bad for your teeths sensitivity, but I have been using 'pepsodent' or something for SEVERAL weeks, maybe months, and it's supposed to whiten my teeth and I haven't noticed anything! I have bleaching trays... but I can't find them.. haha.. and anyway my teeth are very sensitive and it hurts! It makes my enamel see-through almost.. I just want some really good toothpaste that strengthens them and stuff. What works?
--------------------
The most common option used as homemade teeth whitening agent is baking soda, which has a mild bleaching action. Given that it is used in baking, it also implies safety. Baking soda is sprinkled on the toothbrush, and teeth then cleaned using a gentle, circular motion. Care should still be taken though, especially for people with gum sensitivity. Old wives' recipes often state that a paste of baking powder, a little salt, and a few drops of white vinegar, works effectively. Salt, used exactly as baking soda, is also touted as being a good teeth whitener. However, it might just be its osmosis, dehydrating action that makes teeth appear whiter, since dehydrated teeth look whiter. Lemon juice is often used, but it had high acidic levels, so teeth can weaken in the long run. Other natural, fruit options regard rubbing the inside of an orange peel on the teeth. A strawberry cut in half and the inside rubbed on teeth also works. Mashed strawberry can also be applied with a toothbrush. Apple cider vinegar is also said to be effective. Dried orange rind, and walnut bark, is also good. For other effective home teeth whitening solutions, you may wish to read about them here : http://teeth-whitening.my-fashion-house.

What are some ways to whiten your teeth?
I don't want to proffessionally bleach my teeth because it is unhealthy but I want to make my teeth look whiter. What are some alternatives? Would it be a good idea to make sure my teeth are white before or after I put my braces in? Thanks! x
--------------------
take some baking soda and mix some freshly squeezed lemon juice with it. it won't give you professional results but if you brush with it twice daily you will see some change

How can I get white but strong teeth?
I have been using all of the Crest 3D white products, the toothbrush, the rinse, toothpaste, and the whitening strips, my teeth are really white, but they are really sensitive, I don't want to have to choose, because I would choose the white teeth since I'm a ballroom dancer, and white teeth is important in competitions. How can I have my cake and eat it too.
--------------------
Sensitivity of the teeth to hot and cold is the most common side effects from teeth whitening at home. The symptoms are temporary and will subside in 1-3 days following termination of use of the whitening products. And You can also follow the ways to reduce or eliminate the sensitivity of the teeth. 1. First of all, Check to make sure you are not overloading the application of bleach. 2. Breaking up the amount of time whitening is done into smaller, longer spaced segments, will alleviate the sensitivity problem. 3. Brush your teeth with Sensodyne toothpaste and use a soft-bristle toothbrush. The sensodyne toothpaste has a high concentration of fluoride and the fluoride will stop the senstivity. 4. Try taking ibuprofen for acute sensitivity. 5. The dentist or the pharmacist can be asked to prescribe a product containing high fluoride to restore the mineral content of the teeth. 6. If the above methods can not prevent your sensitive teeth, stop the whitening for a few days to allow the teeth to get adjusted to the teeth whitening treatment.

Does Crest Whitening Strips work?? Will it make my teeth really white and sparkle IF my teeth is very yellow??
yellow teeth from drinking too much tea and coke and other colour drinks

THey have like 50 differnt teeth whitening products on the market now. Things like Crest White Strips. Howvever, although they work they are bad for ur teeth so u shouldnt use them so often. I used it once and will nvr again, bc why ruin ur teeth just to look a little better. I mean have we become so into our looks that we dont even care if it affects our health. But if u want to do it, do it. You can also have it done professionally by ur dentist but it costs alot more, although supposedlly they do a better job. You know ever since i started brushing my teethafter every single meal my teeth have become so much whiter its amazing. Try that, but u have to keep it up, if u really care i would go thatw way, as opposed to unhealthy, its healthy, and it works almost as good. Ive been doing that for 4 months now, and everyone tells me they see a big difference.

Does brushing with baking soda really work to whiten your teeth?
If it does, how long does it take to whiten and should you do it every other day, Etc.
--------------------
The best way to clean your teeth is to take a tablespoon of baking soda and a little bit of hydrogen peroxide and using your finger rub this mixture onto your gums and teeth rince out your mouth with some water that is pure not treated as city water. You can use Tom's toothpaster without flouride, its the best and saftest toothpaste on the market.

Can using teeth whiteners make your gums receed or more prone to bleed?
I posted a question earlier, but I haven't noticed my gums start to bleed easily or hurt and be sensitive until I started using whitening strips and toothpastes etc. to try and whiten my teeth, now my gums bleed really easy when I brush and hurt pretty bad.. could this be because of the whitening stuff? or just because i have been wearing a retainer that has my teeth shifting to stay in place and then I go brush and the gums haven't had time to settle in..? any ideas on this?

OK . I don't know about the whiting strip ??? . (who make them , are the a well know company ?? . Do you buy them from a TV shop or in a supermarket . If you bought them in a supermarket and if the company is kn-owed well . The should not be the problem . Or even the toothpaste etc . I just think when you bush you teeth to much . You should only spend 2 mins ever time you bush you teeth . And it's important that you bush the gum softly and not to hard . This helps to make you gum strong .And if i were you i just use the toothpaste and if you want the mouth wash . But don't use the whitening strips because the mite just mix in with your soft gums . I hope this help . If you feel if you want to be sure about why your gums are bleeding you can also go to the dentist for a check up . And then ask your question . And then after a few weeks of washing with you normal tooth brush then you gums will me strong . And you can then use the whitening strips . For sure . All the best .

my best friend was looking for cheap teeth whitening answer. She used crest white strips but she also complains that her teeth have gotten more sensitive when she drinks ice tea. she tried a teeth whitener kit online and it's still white but without the sensitivity. im not a dentist but i can only assume its strips that made it sensitive. you can get the white strips at any store and the kit from the website below. hope that can help guide your cheap teeth whitening question.

if your teeth start to whiten with braces on will their be stains after?
Can you mix Darvocet with other pain relievers? I had zoom whitening done and my teeth are killing me.?
I have taken two Darvocet 100-650's with no relief..
--------------------
You really should not mix pain relivers because it can cause kidney or liver damage. To tell you the truth Darvocets are really mild and in my experience they don't help much. Advil or execrin helps much much more. You will still need to wait about six hours before taking anything else so in the meanwhile try an ice-pack alternating it with a heating pad.

How to whiten teeth fast?
I'm 25 and have had yellow teeth since my teen years and never had the money to get the professionally whiten until now. I went to the dentist and purchased the home bleaching kit with 22% peroxide bleach. It's been going on two weeks and nothing. How long does this home kit usually take? Is there a quicker way to get yellow teeth white enough to not be embarassed while talking to people?
--------------------
*sigh* Sounds to me like something's up with your dentist. Any decent dentist would be able to give you some type of outpatient UV style of whitening, or refer you to someone who can, unless you REEEALLY live out of the way. It's really quick, in the office over like 3 visits, and I'm fairly certain it's well under 1000 dollars now. I've never had it but I inquired a few years ago. And I wouldn't suggest it but I actually saw a booth at the mall doing it for 100 dollars... I'm sure that's just for one visit though. Won't be a dramatic difference. And I definately wouldn't be embarassed, i would be visibly, infectingly happy!

How to whiten teeth?
I have kinda yellow teeth and I hate them. I brush my teeth twice a day with whitening toothpaste but it doesn't work that well. I've tried whitening strips too but they don't work. So does anyone have any recipes/ideas of a way to whiten teeth? Has anyone here tried brushing their teeth with diluted baking soda? Thanks =]] <3 ** Will choose best answer **

I had a tint of yellow on my teeth for the longest time. And then I used the actually Arm and Hammer Baking Soda Toothpaste for sensitive teeth. And that helped so much! Not even the Crest Pro Health worked for me. So you should try the Arm and Hammer one (:

Has anyone used strawberries to whiten their teeth?
I heard if you cut a strawberry and lightly rub it on your teeth, the acids in the fruit would make your teeth whiter. Has anyone tried this and does this work?
--------------------
strawberries are a natural tooth-cleanser, buffing away stains from coffee, red wine, and dark sodas. While it's no replacement for a bleaching treatment at your dentist's office, this is a fast, cheap way to brighten your smile, hope that helps:)

Is this teeth whitening method dangerous or safe?
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/843480/whiter_teeth_really_cheap/ I found this on metacafe and seems to be legit and safe. I see no dangerous chemicals involved.
--------------------
Teeth whitening doesn't really fit into the realm of being 'safe' or really being 'dangerous'. The only real danger bleaching has is that it can lead to sensitivity in teeth as well as gum tissue, depending upon (1) patient use frequency (2) percentage of bleach in whitening gel (3) patient tolerance. Whether or not it is safe, no one i have heard of has died or developed any medical complications due to its use. Teeth whitening is more of an esthetic choice to make, rather than a medical one. The materiels used have all been tested, and each company has their own formula. The bleach, while you shouldn't eat it, can sometimes go down your throat during use, but its safe, so that shouldn't make you grow an extra eye or anything like that. If you're worried about it, you can always start on the lower percentage bleaching materials, like the crest whitestrips or whatnot, and see how that works for you. If you want something more powerful, you would have to see your dental professional. Do note that if your a smoker or coffee/tea drinker, its going to be tough to bleach your teeth, since nicotine and caffeine do cause staining. Just a side note.

What do you know about teeth whitening? Bad or not?
What kind of stuff dentists use to white out our teeth? Can it be bad for teeth or it's totally safe?
--------------------
Although I don't know a lot about this subject, I do know some. First of all, dentists have a variety of techniques, most commonly including a strong version of bleach. A newer technique is laser whitening and the like. To my knowledge, any of the off the counter products by reputable manufacturers (like Crest/Colgate), are legitimate and do have some effect. It won't be really significant, but they do help and have gotten better of the years. They appear to be fairly safe. The best way to whiten teeth is to have a reputable/honest dentist probably use the whitening formula. However, As a note of caution, I would not advise going to a whitening place that you may see in the mall or any of those places where an actual dentist is not present. You may have seen these places, and basically all they do is whiten teeth. The problem with places that only whiten teeth is that they often do not have any dentist present and many of those stores have gotten in trouble with the American dental association. The reason is because they are doing work on your teeth and there isn't even a dentist or a professional present. It is not safe to do it that way. You may be familiar with NPR, a public news radio program, that is broadcast throughout the nation. Here are a couple of links to help with what they said. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story Bottom line: if you really need to whiten your teeth, just buy an off the counter one for like $45 or go to a reputable dentist that has done many of these procedures and look up reviews. It's not cheap if a dentist does it (anywhere from around $250 to $1200, with maybe $500 average). Also, for the future to prevent your teeth from staining, avoid drinking sugar sodas, sugar gum, and coffee/tea. Of course, coffee/tea is normal to drink, so when you drink it, just rinse out your mouth afterwards. If you don't, the liquid stays in your mouth and can stain. If you want to chew gum, chew sugarless gum. Of course, regular brushing and flossing is important. Good luck.
