How was your experience? How did you feel about the cost, was it worth it? How long did your teeth stay white/whiter for? Any negative effects?
--------------------
yes, i have like 4 yrs ago. Every office has a different fee, price range probably from $400 to $600. In my case, i really like the way my teeth turned out to be. Everyone told me they looked amazing. so i guess it really was worth it. Every 6 months you have to do a touch up, because after a while your teeth do discolor due to coffee, tea, wine, smoking, etc.. After getting your teeth bleached you'll be VERY sensitive especially that same day. My doc recommended me to take some pain meds. You can also get a fluoride rinse or ask your doc about a fluoride appliance, it will reduce the sensitivity.

Who has completed in office tooth whitening (like zoom). Could you please share what you experienced?
Focus on this: 1. Was the result satisfactory based on the cost on amount or lack of discomfort of the procedure? 2. Would you do it again?
--------------------
I was pretty happy with my results-but it's not very long lasting. But, I will say that I was in a great deal of pain (couldn't talk or breathe out of my mouth) for about 48 hours on the verge of tears. Then the next day I was fine. I would definately not do it again-I even had it done for free at my work. Next time I'm going to use a bleaching tray system which can be bought pretty much anywhere like Target, Meijers, etc.

Does a regular dental check up whiten teeth a bit?
I am going to my first check up in a couple years and my teeth are a little yellower than I want them to be. I have a dentist appointment coming up soon. Will the regular cleaning and polishing make my teeth noticeably whiter?
--------------------
If it's been a couple years then yes, you will see a difference if you get a regular cleaning with a good polishing. Two years is a very long time between cleanings. You might not see your teeth get dramatic results like two shades of whiteness, but 1/2 to 1 shade is not uncommon with my patients. Especially if the patient smokes or drinks lots of coffee. Even with patients who come in every 6 months, after they get a cleaning sometimes they look in the mirror and they are so happy. They remark at how much brighter their teeth look. Do not be surprised if the same happens to you. You will be surprised at how much gunk you build up. Btw - the stain that builds up inside the teeth, called intrinsic stain, can be addressed by using whitening kit with hydrogen peroxide as active ingredient. Hydrogen peroxide has the ability to penetrate deep into the tooth enamel getting at surfaces below the outer enamel. Unfortunately it's this ability to penetrate the enamel that makes teeth sensitive to the hydrogen peroxide in some people so use with caution.

*HYDROGEN PEROXIDE+BAKING SODA WHITENING* Having less-than-brilliant teeth doesn't have to mean a trip to the dentist or a whitening kit. Try this all-natural remedy instead. You Will Need - Baking soda Hydrogen peroxide Bowl Toothbrush Plastic wrap Mint flavoring Cranberry juice WARNING! - Do not whiten teeth if you have cavities, open sores, gingivitis, or other gum disease. Step 1: In a small bowl, mix 2 teaspoons each of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Stir until it is the consistency of regular toothpaste. You may need to add a bit more peroxide. TIP - Add a drop or two of sugar-free mint flavoring. To get rid of the Hydrogen Peroxide flavoring. Step 2: Apply the whitener to a toothbrush and use as if it was regular toothpaste. Leave the whitener on your teeth for at least two minutes. Step 3: Rinse thoroughly. Do not swallow the whitener solution. TIP - Try rinsing with cranberry juice to get rid of the whitener's taste; it also kills bacteria. Step 4: Cover the bowl with the plastic wrap and set the extra whitener aside for another use. Step 5: Brush with the peroxide paste no more than once a week. Hydrogen peroxide can cause tissue damage if used too often. DID YOU KNOW? - Tooth enamel is the hardest tissue in the human body. *STRAWBERRY WHITENING* Strawberries contain malic acid, which is great for removing stains on your teeth. You Will Need - 1 ripe strawberry 1/2 tsp baking soda A soft toothbrush Dental floss Mouthwash Hydrogen peroxide Step 1: Mash the strawberry with a fork and mix it with the baking soda. The baking soda buffs away stains from coffee, tea, and blueberries that penetrate your enamel over time. Step 2: Using a soft toothbrush, apply the mixture to the teeth you want to whiten. Step 3: Let the mixture set for five minutes. Step 4: Brush your teeth with toothpaste as usual. Floss to get out any seeds from the strawberry. TIP - Rinsing with a little hydrogen peroxide mixed with water after brushing kills bacteria and whitens teeth. Step 5: Rinse your mouth with mouthwash to wash away residual acid. Your teeth will be gleaming and stain-free. DID YOU KNOW - In the Middle Ages barbers also practiced dentistry. THIS WILL GET YOUR TEETH WHITE IN A INSTANT.

whitening teeth at home?
great tips please and thank you

Try crest whitestrips, my mom uses them and they really work, i can't use them right now, though, because i have braces, but once i get them off, i will use them. There is also this whole Crest package that you can buy at target or wal mart that comes with the whitestrips, whitening toothpaste, and whitening mouthwash. I think that would be a great buy! Hope it helps!

Is it ok to whiten teeth right before getting braces?
I'd like white teeth behind my braces. Just wondering if that was safe to do.
--------------------
Sure it's safe to do. Why wouldn't it be OK? But, why whiten them to look beautiful and then cover them up with the braces? Most people would do it in the reverse order so that people can admire their straight teeth and the whiteness at the same time.

tooth whitening ? Any alternatives for tooth whitening? any tips?
For tooth bleach, I've always had stained, less than perfect, off white teeth and I brush every morning and night! How do I get whiter teeth without having the entire mouth replaced with fakes? Any tooth bleach product solutions?

I asked a friend (dentist) about my teeth whitening systems questions and she recommended ordering a teeth whitening kit online....it's the best thing I've ever used. It works great and really doesn't take that long to whiten. You can also go to your dentist and get the take home gel but the price for those ranges from $500-$2000. Try the whitening kit first to spend a little and see if that works. If you don't like it then visit your doctor for their home gel. You can also try baking soda and peroxide but it takes a very long time to see any type of 'teeth whitening systems' result.

ZOOM Teeth WHITENING?
will zoom whiten stained bonding, or proclien vaneers?
--------------------
Nothing will, you need to have them redone. They match the color to the teeth at the time the bonding or veneer work is done.

Is whitening bad for your teeth?
Does it makes them weaker by removing the top layer? Is it bad to put bleaching chemicals in your mouth where you can swallow them? It says "try not to get on lips or gums" - well i think this is impossible!
--------------------
Depends on if the system has been recommended and instructed by a professional dentist or have bought the system yourself without any professional support and advice. If whitening is done by a dental professional like a dentist or dental hygeinist, it will NOT do any damge to your gum or your teeth. And you should NOT repeat it more than once every 2 years. The only side effect with whitening is sensitive teeth that will be temporary and very rare cases long term. So whitening done by a dental professional is safe!

Very yellow teeth, need household whitening kit.?
I have really yellow teeth, because i used to go days with out brushing. I now brush my teeth 2 times a day, but i cant get them even near white. I have a budget of at most $60, and the product has to be available in a common store. please help!

I was just at my dentist for a cleaning and asked about whitening. He said the over the counter whiteners will whiten slightly but you have to use them over and over again to get ok/good/average results! Save your money and go to the dentist. He will make a mold of your teeth and you put the whitener in the mold and put on your teeth for about 1/2 hour a day (you do it at home). It's $299 where my dentist is.

Cavity filling and dental teeth cleaning before or after Crest Whitening Strips?
I dont know what I should do first.
--------------------
The cleaning should be done first. This will remove the plaque and stain and the strips will work better. Then see how white you can get them with the strips. Then do the fillings. You can then match the color to your hopefully whiter teeth. Remember that you cannot make the filling material lighter with bleaching or strips. So if you place the fillings and the lighten the teeth, the fillings will be darker and stand out.

Whitening Methods. My teeth need to be white!?
I was just recently at the dentist and everything went great! My wisdom teeth are coming in right and if im lucky they may not need to be pulled! But anyway I have a dividing line on my two front teeth. It is where my lips hit and then leave the rest of my two teeth exposed. So my dentist told me to just get the best whitening product on the market . SO my question to you is what is the best whitening product on the market. Also where i will be able to purchase it.

Would it be bad if i started drink frappachino's after if i got my teeth whitened 2 weeks ago?
I don't have them everyday. Just maybe once a month. Would that discolor my teeth?
--------------------
Don't worry about it. You can't stop living just because you had you teeth whitened. No matter what you do, with time the teeth will eventually become more stained. There are touch up procedures that can be done every few years if need be.

How much does it cost to get your teeth whitened professionally?
And do you think insurance helps to cover the cost? Probably not...
--------------------
I have commonly seen $350-$400. Prices will vary but it's not a cheap process. Depends on your coverage. Most won't cover that since it's not really neccessary and it's considered a luxury type deal.

How long dose it take to whiten teeth using baking soda?
how do you use it and how long dose it take to whiten your teeth and how many times to use it and is it safe
--------------------
It's totally safe. I used to do that all the time. all you do is get like a palm full of baking soda and mix it with hydrogen peroxide. use a tooth brush or your finger and just get the mixture on your teeth. leave it on for like a minute or two then rinse out your mouth. I would do this like 2 or 3 times a week

My teeth hurts when I bite on a piece of aluminum foil! Why is this happening to me?
It started after I used this tooth whitening gel.
--------------------
This happens because i'm assuming you have a filling made from a different metal than aluminium. It makes an electric current between the 2 different metals and this cause the pain.

What material(s) does a dentist use to make the plastic trays for tooth whitening?
I understand the dentist takes a negative cast and then from this is able to produce a positive cast. But what happens next?
--------------------
He places a sheet of soft plastic like vinyl material over the model and with a vacuum suction machine heats and draws the material over the teeth. The excess is then trimmed away. Now you have a custom bleaching tray. The same is done for mouth guards except a different type of material is used.

how do I let him know that his teeth need whitening?
I met this guy online and he is sweet, good looking and seems like a great guy. We met for lunch and I realized that his teeth are VERY yellow. This grosses me out. I am not sure if he doesn't brush regularly or what. I know that he is not a smoker so I don't understand what the deal is. Oral hygiene is very important to me. He asked me out for another date and I want to go but I can't imagine ever kissing him because I know that I can't deal with the teeth. Is there any way that I could tell him that he needs to whiten his teeth with out completely hurting his feelings?
--------------------
Just tell him "Hey man did you work at a concession stand before? cuz your teeth so yellow looks like you were spitting butter on people's popcorn." Don't be afraid just tell him, if you don't tell him that means you're willing to put up with it. Hygiene is a must! you don't want to end up marrying this guy and then deal with his mudbutt stains for the rest of your life...do you?
