how do they make professional teeth whitening trays in the lab?
I am curious as to how they turn a bite imprint into a little plastic mold for your teeth-like for bleaching or for invisalign. What kind of certification is required? Is this done by a dental lab tech, dentist , or what?

After the impression is made, lab stone is poured into the impression to create a stone model of your teeth. Once this is hardened and trimmed, it is placed in a "suck down" machine that heats up a sheet of plastic that is dropped over the model and a vacuum is used to form it around the teeth. Then is it trimmed to just cover the teeth. If a dentist has the proper equipment, he/she can do it in their office, or train an assistant to do it. If not, they can send it to a dental lab. No certification is needed to fabricate it, but there is legislation that requires impressions only to be done by a liscensed practicioner. I'm not as familiar with the invisalign technique, but it does require someone with more experience in orthodontics because the teeth need to be slightly shaped with wax or trimmed in order to put the pressure on them to move them. Sometimes with bleaching trays "resovoirs" are placed on the front of the teeth by adding composite to make a spot for the bleach.

Would it be a bad idea to use teeth whitening toothpaste while I have braces?
My teeth are yellow-ish and I'm not sure if using the toothpaste would look bad when i get my braces off.

If your teeth were yellowish when you got braces put on then you will have to wait to take them off before you can whiten them? Just use normal toothpaste, but brush extra well :)

Does professional home teeth whitening even work?
My dentist gave me hydrogen peroxide to use with these special teeth impressions made from my teeth. He said it will work but I used it a bit erratically so not sure. i am going back and gonna use it properly. However my friend also gave me some 10% carbamide peroxide that you sleep overnight with. Will they work do you think? It's PolaNight. Also what foods should I avoid.. other than red wine and stuff that i dont drink. do i have to avoid everything with colour?

I got my braces off awhile ago and really wanted to whiten my teeth and i have been using the crest 3D whitestrips. and they work REEEALLLLY well:D. i think they were $30. but still way cheaper then getting them professionally whitened. btw it comes with 20 strips in the pack ...hope this helped:)

Why do whitening strips cause teeth sensitivity?
Ive never had a problem with my teeth being sensitive. The other day I tried one of those crest teeth whitening strips and after one use, my teeth are so sensitive I cant stand it! What is causing this? The main ingredient is peroxide, which I though was in most toothpaste anyway. Is it going to cause damage to my teeth?

Well you can get whiter teeth on your own, but its best to see your dentist for a clean. Thats always the best. But to answer your question. I use Aquafresh iso-active foam and Listerine mouthwash. Keeps my teeth white and healthy. Hope this helps. :)

Does swallowing toothpaste really make your teeth yellow? Teeth whitening?
I'm sure I was once told by a dentist that came into my primary school that you shouldn't wash your mouth out after you've brushed your teeth because then the toothpaste doesn't have the full effect. Here is a easy and cheap why to get white teeth, i do it! Buy peroxide and baking soda! Sprinkle some baking soda on your tooth brush and brush your teeth with it, then rinse with peroxide! The peroxide has a nasty taste to it but it works well!
