Hi, I'm a dentist so trust me when I tell you not to use over the counter strips. They contain Phosphoric acid and you do not want an acid attack on your teeth enamel. Only two products are safe: carbamide peroxide -for home use- and Hydrogen peroxide for dental chair use. As a dentist I like the second one because patients can't control the amount of product they use. Ask your dentist about Hydrogen peroxide products. I got my teeth bleached and I can assure you it's a safe procedure if the professional knows what he/she's doing. Good luck!

Teeth whitening question?
I am getting married soon and I realized that with my very white dress, my teeth are going to stand out as they are not that white. I was curious what are some good ways to whiten them? Any one have any experience with those strips? Any ideas would help, thanks!
--------------------
The strips are good, in office custom trays are better, for the quick fix... in office treatment is the way to go (approx. same results as trays, just done for you and accelerated... more$).

Best teeth whitening stuff?
I'm trying to find something that will whiten up my teeth for my wedding in October. BTW- I heard this thing that some woman put two different products together and really got her teeth white? Wha?

Hi, Lot of people do face problems with yellow teeth. The reason for yellow teeth can be less calcium, smoking or coffee. Some people face problems like yellow to faint yellow teeth also because of too much brushing or using products which harm teeth. While baking soda or peroxide can make your teeth white but it is not recommended. Dentists world over do not recommend use of such pure form substances on teeth as they harm your teeth in longer run. Not all whitening trays are good, in fact many people have complained about irritation and pain with trays. Yellow teeth are not always unhealthy while bright white teeth can be unhealthy. Lot of people want white teeth so that they can smile big and don't get embarrassed while talking to friends and colleagues. Such people can use teeth whitening pens which are 100% safe for your teeth. The best thing about these products is that you can easily get FREE trial to have white teeth. You may order your free trials and have white teeth. You just have to pay for the shipping and handling. Its always better to try before you buy and I am sure it will work for everyone including you. BTW the website where you can get such free samples is http://tinyurl.com/freewhiteteeth I am not promoting the website nor am I associated with it in any manner. Just trying to help someone who is worried about bad/yellow teeth. Hope this helps. Thanx :-)

i suggest that the best way to naturally whiten teeth is to e sure to maintain proper brushing and careful flossing to be able to remove stain on teeth as well as plaque. at the same time, you can also try using an at-home teeth whitening that can help restore white like what you have ages ago. make sure that you choose the right product that contains quality ingredients that is safe and effective. well, there is a need to quit bad habits of smoking and tobacco use. you can also avoid teeth staining culprits like foods and drinks such as coffee, colas, tea, plum, red wine, sauces, chocolates and many more. visit http://www.maximumteethwhitening.com for more tips on how to safely and effectively keep teeth whiter.

Which makes teeth whiter/better results? Laser Whitening or Bleaching?
Hi there, I'm thinking of getting my teeth whitened but want to know which way gets teeth whiter? Laser or Bleaching? I know Laser is more expensive but I've heard the results are better. Can anyone help me, has anyone had it done? Thanks
--------------------
Laser whitening and bleaching are really the same process. Both require the teeth to be covered with a peroxide solution; in "one hour" or laser whitening the peroxide is much more concentrated. The laser is supposed to cause the peroxide to be more active but several studies suggest that it does nothing more than placebo. After one hour there is whitening but likely not to the degree that you want; so you are then given an at-home whitening kit to complete the process over the following couple of weeks. I assume the bleaching you refer to is the at-home kit that is used for 30 minutes twice a day for about 2 to 3 weeks. This method is often more comfortable (less sensitivity) and less costly. Both methods will usually result in white teeth.

Teeth Whitening Kits/Remedies that actually work?
Crest Whitening Strips (including Premium) did nothing for me, 4 boxes later. Are the other kits better? Or maybe those kits are for people with white teeth already who just want a lil pearly boost? Is there anything else I can try at home to make my teeth less yellow? I dont drink coffee or smoke or drink too many sodas. Im paying the price for not caring for them when I was a kid. They have been yellow for the past 13 years. I cant afford professional bleaching just yet. So any remedies, even unsafe remedies, please share! Also, do the dental school's do whitening at a discount or is that just cavities and such?

Most people's teeth are not white - they usually have slight yellow or grey in them. My cousin has naturally very white teeth but most people's arent that white. Hollywood stars, models and celebrities mainly have crowned teeth. You could save up and go to the denist and have the bleaching treatment. Dont wreck you teeth using some noxious stuff. They are to chew your food with, and you could damage them permanently. Notice other peoples teeth - they are not that white. I'm not sure if dental schools do bleaching treatment you could phone and ask. When you have some money you could have them crowned or veneers put on veneers are cheaper and you can have them done a couple at a time. They look really good and more natural than crowns

Teeth Bleaching/ Whitening gel painful! Is this normal?
I purchased some Plus white teeth whitening gel at my local drug store because although my teeth are white I wanted them to be sparkling and perfect... So then I put it on...And the first 3 days were fine... but today it was burning my gums and when I took a breathe in a sharp sensitivity that was strong gave me a sensitive pain in my tooth! And finally my gums were bleached but the came back to normal.... Is this normal? I think it made some of my teeth more sensitive... and My gums are a little sore still... Here are the ingredients of the product- WATER,POLOXAMER 407,GLYCERIN,HYDROGEN PEROXIDE,METHYL SALICATE,SODIUM SACCARIN,PHOSPHORIC ACID.
--------------------
Some OTC whitening agents can be very dangerous if used improperly or too long. Many are too strong for an OTC product (in my opinion!) Hydrogen Peroxide will burn tissue. Try putting a drop of hydrogen peroxide on your finger...it will turn white. That's a chemical BURN! This is what is making your gums sore, you have burned them chemically. Phosphoric Acid is what we dentists use to DISSOLVE tooth enamel. Yes, it will eat away at your enamel! This is what is making your teeth sensitive. You have opened tiny holes in the exposed root surface (called dentin tubules) They communicate with the nerve and that it why your teeth are sensitive. Stop using the product immediately. Rinse with warm salt water for a few days and brush very gently. You can also use Sensodyne toothpaste to "close" the tiny holes and diminish the sensitivity. This why we as dentists try to encourage people not to whiten on their own. Some of these products can be damaging. The ones that are safe, like Crest WhiteStrips are such a low concentration that they take a long time to work. In 20 years of practicing dentistry, I have found the most effective and safest products are the whitening gels (10-15% carbamide peroxide, a safer form of hydrogen peroxide) placed in a custom-made tray (made by your dentist) which allows you to keep the gel off your gums so that they do not burn. These gels also DO NOT contain phosphoric acid! I find this concentration gel works the best for most people and causes the least sensitivity. And, once you pay to have the trays made by your dentist (usually around $200) then the gel is cheap. The trays can last a lifetime if you take good care of them. so, the cost ends up being less than most of these OTC products. If the pain lasts more than a couple of days, see your dentist. Good luck, Dr. Paul

Best way to whiten teeth? whitening products, do they hurt?
What are some really good teeth whitening products I can use? Also, I have one tooth that's out of alignment and starting to get hidden behind on of the other teeth (hopefully I can get Invisline braces after I graduate college) so would the strips kind still work alright on that tooth? Or should I get paste or gel kind? And i've heard these products can make teeth sensitive..is this just temporary, or can it be damaging? And does using baking soda really help? Baking soda toothpaste doesn't do crap, but how about straight baking soda?
--------------------
I am currently using Rembrandt's Professional White. It is a gel that you leave on your teeth for twenty minutes max every night. It isn't awful at all and I have had no side effects. As for the braces, I am a college student and have been wearing invisalign for almost a year now. There are not noticeable and for small changes like just one tooth out of line it is a simple task. Also if you do end up getting invisalign, they work as whitening trays. Every night I just put the rembrandt whitening gel into my liners and leave it in overnight. In the morning it rinses out fine and I straightened and whitened my teeth all at the same time.

Teeth Whitening Kits?
What are the best home teeth whitening kits on the market?
--------------------
Most toothpastes use one of two things to help whiten your teeth, coarse material, like baking soda, or a mild bleeching agent of one kind or another. A lot of stains are fairly close to the surface and these toothpastes will do the job on them quite well. But, for real whitening you need something more powerful, and that is simply carbamide peroxide, usually in the 22% range is best. In the past this was only available from the dentist but you can get it all day on the internet. When you go to the dentist they will do one of two things, either offer a "kit" which has the dental, ie, tooth tray, along with the peroxide gel, or you can up the ante and go for the fastest and whitest of white smiles and get zoom laser treatments, but that will cost you a few bucks. My best guess is that the dentist would charge you around $200 for the tray and the peroxide gel, but you can get it yourself from various sites for $30 to $45. It is safe and very effective. You can either use the "mold at home" type dental trays or you can get the impression kit and send off for a more professional "custom" tray which may cost just a little more. Either way it works. If you find that the 22% concentration makes your teeth sensitive, cut back on usage, it will fade away quickly. Or you can go for the lesser strength product. Just follow the directions and don't go overboard and try to brighten your teeth by wearing it for 24hrs straight and your teeth won't get too sensitive. Over the counter I don't think you can even get close to this kind of performance. I think the crest strips work about the best for that category from what I have read. But, I have used the 22% on and off over the years and it works great. Just do a quick google for carbamide peroxide and you will find lots of sites that carry it. Good luck.

Best Teeth Whitening Method?
Alright, so i just got half my braces off, and am soon to get the rest off. I'm getting them off when i have spring break, so I want to go back to school with a dazzling white smile. My teeth are like an off white, and i really want them to shine! My mom doesnt want me to use Crest White Strips because they wear off my enamel (mighta spelled that wrong). Anyone got any good and very effective teeth whitening ideas? :) Thanks! (:

Get some baking soda and mix it in with your toothpaste. This is what they put in whitening toothpastes most of the time... it tastes bad but it does the trick! Also, if you can bare it eat some lemons! Lemons have citric acid in them which is like a bleaching agent... some girls even use it on their hair to lighten it. This will definitley help brighten you smile good luck!

Whitening teeth is a no easy thing. It should be realized with a doctor's advice. And better be careful in choosing for a teeth whitener. A wrong choice may bring you more harm than good so be aware. A natural way of whitening teeth is said to be the safest way as it gives no side effects to the teeth, mouth and overall health. See for yourself the amazing natural products from http://www.trustedhealthproducts.com/ and pick the teeth whitening system that suits you best.

It says on the instructions that it won't whiten fillings or anything like that, so I don't think it should do anything to your fake tooth.

Does sensitivity toothpaste reverse the effect of tooth whitening products?
I am using Crest Whitestrips and my teeth are getting sensitive because of it. I picked up some generic sensodyne and am hoping it will help with the sensitivity. but do the ingredients of it cause my teeth whitening effects to be reversed/diminished? and will future whitening be reduced because of the sensodyne? side note: are there any side effects to the sensodyne and how long does it take to be effective? THANK YOU!!
--------------------
No, and the side effects are it tastes horrific! I usually have to mix it with regular toothpaste to keep from gagging. It starts working within a week. I always have to use sensodyne after whitening.

ghetto teeth whitening?
If you leave whitening toothpaste on your teeth will it work the same as whitening strips????
--------------------
No, whitening toothpaste works by removing stains from the teeth due to the increased amount of abbrasives in the paste. They don't actually whiten the teeth, they just remove stain better than other toothpastes. Whitening strips work via a peroxide/carbamide peroxide affect.
