I have braces and I know that I cannot use products that add whitening chemicals to my teeth, but is it ok if I use a natural product like baking soda that doesn't actually add white but it just removes stains to make teeth appear whiter? Thanks sooo much<333
--------------------
doing that is only going to make your teeth look more yellow when you get your braces off because the outsides of your teeth will be very white but insides will be yellow. I would wait

Laser teeth whitening... which is the best?
It seems that most dentists are offering Zoom whitening but there are others like stylesmileclinic and hollywood smile which seem to be safer, cheaper and better. Does anyone have any experience of these or can anyone tell me why dentists don't offer these if they are better?
--------------------
Research is now showing that the OTC products are giving results that are similar to the laser-type agents. I would recommend them and the cost is significantly less. Good Luck

i have naturally yellow teeth and I want to try OTC whitening.?
I would like to know if anyone else has this problem and used an OTC whitener with success my teeth are not stained just naturally yellow will an OTC whitener whiten my teeth or do they only work on stains? xxx
--------------------
Actually, they are meant for whitening, not for stains. So go ahead and try it, it can't hurt. We often recommend Crest White Strips to our patients who do not want, nor have the need for the bleaching trays that we make here.

Has anyone had their teeth whitened?
I am planning to go to the local mall to have my teeth whitened... and I want some feedback before I spend my money. I need to know everything! THANKS 10 points for most detailed answer! Please tell me anything and everything you can about this... for example... does this teeth whitening really work? What can you do for them to stay white? Were you satisfied with the results... will you have to go back... Does it weaken your teeth?
--------------------
My sister is a dental hygienist and does tooth whitening in the dentist's office. I asked her the same question. She said over the counter tooth whitening is about the same just a slightly lower concentration. I use aquafresh whitening trays and am happy with the results but need to redo it every six months to a year. My friend used Crest whitening strips and has very white teeth now. I have just purchased Avon's Wellness Beautifully Bright. It uses the exact same stuff in the dentist office. The accelerator and the whitening gel. It only takes three days. Many people have had up to 6 shades whiter and no tooth sensitivity. It is on sale for 14 dollars on Avon.

Whitening teeth? Do I use toothpaste with this?
I found this ehow article online and I'm just wondering do you ever use toothpaste with this or not? Your suppose to do it for about a month so I assume your breathe might stink? http://www.ehow.com/how_2128087_whiten-t
--------------------
Step 3 tells you to brush with toothpaste afterwards. The peroxide can weaken the enamel, so don't overdo it. The salt acts as an abrasive. Peroxide actually kills the germs that cause bad breath. Nothing in the procedure will cause your breath to be foul. Besides, bad breath often comes from your digestive tract or rotting food in between your teeth, so flossing is helpful. Fluoride, in your toothpaste is a germ killer too. Also, brush the inside of the cheeks and tongue. I have had a lot of dental work and I brush/floss after eating anything, but, I'm a fanatic.(with beautiful teeth, at least). I am also a biologist. God bless.

Whitening REALLY sensitive teeth?
I've bought home whitening kits before (strips and gels) but every time I use them, I get sharp shooting pains in my teeth. I just went to the dentist, and my teeth are in good condition, just very very sensitive. Anyone else have the same problem? Is there something that will whiten without the pain?
--------------------
I also have your problem, and the only solution I found was to decrease the amount of time I used the whitening agents. I got the Crest white strips from my dentist's office and I used them for my wedding. I think they call for 30 minutes 2 times a day, but I did 10 minutes once a day, and my teeth were very white for my wedding. If you are still super sensitive, try doing the whitening treatments every other day a few hours before going to bed. That way if your teeth get sensitive, the majority of the sensitivity will be while you are asleep. You can also use Sensodyne toothpaste, and make sure you have a soft bristle toothbrush. Hope this helps!

what is the best teeth-whitening product?
i have tried a bunch but they don't work well. I am willing to pay $$$$$!

I used Crest whitening strips, they worked really well for me. You have to use them for at least 10 - 14 days before you can see the results. If you are willing to spend the cash, go to a dentist, they have faster results but could get very expensive.

Question about whitening my teeth?
Yestreday I got my braces off and the Dr. said I could whiten my teeth whenever. We have this stuff at home the gel that you put in your retainer and let it set for like an hour. Well after I took it out my a few of my teeth where splochy white. Did I do something wrong? Should I wait till my next cleaning so they can do it? Why did it do this?
--------------------
The splotchiness is due to the tooth not having an even amount of enamel on all parts of the surface, which shows dramatically when the teeth are dehydrated(which is what the gel did). It's normal, but if you still see it after your teeth rehydrate(a few days), you should talk to your dentist.

HELP, TEETH WHITENING!!!!!!!!?
I drink 6 glasses of milk a day, use baking soda toothpaste, as well as brush once a day. I want to know how to naturally whiten teeth, like not kits, how would i use peroxside to withen my teeth, like steps please, and other ideas to help this.I want to have a great smile for summer.
--------------------
Step1 Brush and floss regularly to reduce or prevent stains. Step2 Try whitening toothpastes. Though heavily advertised, these only partially whiten teeth and don't provide a complete remedy. Make sure the toothpaste has the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval and has been clinically proved to whiten teeth effectively. Very few whitening toothpastes have undergone any type of clinical trial, and ones that are too abrasive can damage teeth or make them very sensitive. Step3 Get regular dental cleanings, which remove many food and tobacco stains. No amount of cleaning will remove the severe staining left by tetracycline or systemic disease because these pigments lie inside the tooth; you'll have to take more aggressive measures against these. Step4 Consider the two options, in-office and at-home treatments, for bleaching your teeth. A dentist performs in-office treatments by coating the teeth with a bleaching agent, then using periodic flashes of light to activate the solution. Treatments last 30 to 60 minutes, and the complete procedure often requires several appointments. In at-home treatments, patients wear a mouth guard fitted with bleaching gel 2 hours a day for two weeks, depending on the severity of staining. Step5 Think about getting veneers, which are custom-made shells bonded to the teeth with resins. This procedure often requires removing a small amount of tooth structure and is the most invasive, as well as the most expensive, treatment option. Or you can try some teeth whitening product. This one is good. http://www.teethwhiten.com/?aid=463455

Whitening products and getting your teeth whitened at the dentist often make your teeth very sensitive. You may want to change to a different toothpaste while you're whitening to help the sensitivity. Try Sensidine. When you whitening your teeth it is dissolving a layer of enamel and that is what is causing the sensitivity. It's normal, but you want to be sure not to overuse whitening products. Good luck!
