I have braces. My teeth are sort of turning yellow for no reason. I brush my teeth 4 times a day. I just dont want my teeth to have cavities or stains underneath. Is there any way i can make sure i dont have stains under my braces, and is there any way i can whiten my teeth with my braces on?

Wow i feel really bad for you bud really, don't use anything cuz when you have your braces taken off, if you ha ve used any whitening products, there will be like different colors for where your braces were covering your teeth. What's the best way to whiten my teeth?
My teeth are extremely yellow and I hate it. I've used everything from whitening strips to bleach pens to make them whiter, and I brush my teeth three times a day so I'm not sure why their so discolored. My parents were willing to have me get them bleached at the dentist but they said I had to be 16. My dentist also suggested that I had naturally yellow teeth but I really want to get them white. Are there any tips or suggestions for whitening my teeth? Are there any old wives tales to make teeth whiter? Any products for teeth whitening that worked for you? Thanks in advanced :)

Cleaning teeth with baking soda?
I have heard that a paste made from mixing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide is effective in cleaning and whitening teeth. However, I have also heard that hydrogen peroxide wears out tooth enamel. Is this true?

Would you whiten your teeth at the mall?
My local mall has added like a little stand right outside dillards where people can get their teeth whitened. Does your mall have that? If you ever thought about whitening your teeth, would that be the place to do it? I think it's dumb, and I wouldn't do it there, I would go to my real dentist.

okay, so i live in the UK (wales) and i want to get my teeth whitened but i have a few questions: how much roughly does it cost? is there a age you have to be to get it done? Is using plain peroxide as good as using the pre-rinse whitening solutions?
Since there is peroxide in the pre-rinse products such as Listerine Whitening Rinse. Is there any reason why you couldn't just pre-rinse with normal hydrogen perioxide? Would it hurt your teeth?

Is it okay to swallow about half of the foam from the toothpaste when you brush your teeth?
You know when you brush your teeth and it turns into foam afterwards? Is it okay to swallow about half of it? The toothpaste I use is Crest with Extra Whitening and Tartar protection and it is a fluoride anticavity toothpaste. What are the side effects if it's bad? Or any symptoms?

Experts make this stuff with the knowledge and expects that people, especially children, are going to swallow a certain amount of it. If you read the back of the box or tube, it will usually say something like, "do not swallow more than you would from normal brushing." Just FYI- Symptoms of fluoride poisoning: body as a whole- excessive salivation abnormal taste (salty or soapy taste) tremors weakness convulsions respiratory - shallow respirations gastrointestinal- nausea vomiting diarrhea abdominal pain - nervous system shock Also, too much fluoride over time will cause white patches or other discoloration of your teeth. It can also cause enamal damage and pitting. Honestly, though, you don't have much to worry about from swallowing some foam from normal brushing. Most cases of fluoride poisoning occurs from fluoride found naturally in some drinking water- usually not the areas where fluoride is added. The fluoride issue is a hotly debated one right now and you are going to find convincing arguments for both sides. I would have to say to err on the side you are comfortable with. I guess I'd just have to ask if you are still alive and well (with healthy teeth) with your current brushing practices. If you are still unsure, talk to a dentist AND a physician. Don't swallow the baking soda either, even though it won't hurt you. To use the baking soda you would put your reg toothpaste on your brush and either dip the brush in the bsoda or sprinkle it on. That makes it taste a little better. Or you can just dip a damp toothbrush in the bsoda. Good luck!!

I'm getting braces in about 16 days and I'm also going to go meet family that I haven't seen in a while. Is there any way to whiten sensitive teeth?
I'm like A lot of people. I have sensitive teeth, from doing something that ate at the enamel. And like the people that drink sodas, and this happened, my teeth are yellow. Not a good match. Those teeth whitening strips, dont fit on my teeth correctly, they burn, (and when I say fit correctly, they go over my gums. And it BURNS to take it off) and plus, they only make the sensitivty worse. Its probably like that with the peroxide, and baking soda. I cant go to the dentist, and get some 300 dollar treatment, because it will only get messed up again, and I'm not willing to pay that much for my teeth. Unless I absolutely needed it. I dont want to have to go out, and spend money for this. And right now, I'm thinking that the bleaching kits, with the trays, eat away at your teeth. I cant do anything that with make my teeth more sensitive than they already are. If you put a light in my mouth, and then look at my teeth, the end of the (more, I guess, spear like? Their thin at the end and this is only with the front teeth) is translucent. Any ideas?

The results were good, cost about £250 I think, and lasted about a year. I've heard laser whitening makes your teeth very sensitive and can be painful, and I think it's more expensive.

Can you use those whitening strips if you have a porcelin bridge?
I have a bridge and was wondering if I could still use those whitening strips on the rest of my teeth. I drink lots of coffee so my real teeth are not as pearly white as they should be.

Can I whiten my teeth even though there is still cement left from braces?
I removed my braces a good 5 month or so ago. There is still cement on my teeth that i see that is stained and it is really really making me self concious. The orthodonist just smoothed the cement down. I even went to my regular dentist and told him my problem but he said he removed most of it... but when i'm looking in the mirror i can see it still! i really want to use the crest strips but i know that it only works on natural teeth. Some one please help!

are you positive that it is cement? bc it could just be stained from where your brackets were (you weren't able to brush that area bc of the brackets). any way if that is the case, you could try the crest whitestrips. i would check with your dentist (or maybe get a second opinion from another dentist?) to see what the best solution for whitening your teeth. sorry i couldn't help much! good luck! :)
