I go for scaling once a year, but in between my teeth gets yellowish in color. I tried some whitening toothpaste but not much help. Can you advise if there are any sure ways preferably natural remedies to keep my teeth whiter?

Help! I used opalescence tooth whitening - and my gums turned white!!! Are my gums destroyed forever?
I start my new job on Monday - and can't go in looking like this. I wanted to brighten my teeth, but now I look like I have a disease with these white gums!!! Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Also - will my gums return to normal, or are they going to deteriorate, etc?

It's a chemical burn. The whiteness should go away in a few hours. They may continue to be a little sore for the next couple days. I would avoid bleaching until your gums have healed. Next time you bleach, make sure you wipe off any excess that squishes out onto your gums. I am sure the dentist has already, but make sure the percentage is 10-15% the 20% can sometimes be too strong. You'll be fine and have a brilliant smile to match. =D

I dont know about the teeth whitening aspect of it, but it is fairly harsh to use on your teeth and can cause the enamel to come off--therefore more sensativity and cavities. I would not use it very often.

is there any safe whitening method or procedure that can whiten the crowning tooth as well?

The porcelain crown is color stable and there is no whitening that can be done on it. If you have all of your teeth bleached and it appears darker than the rest, the only way to correct the situation is to re make the crown.

How to whiten my teeth?
By just using normal toothpaste, not any whitening kits or specialist dental surgery e.t.c. Any tips? (Oh and if you've seen this question before; I'm asking again because hardly anyone answered last time)

I then had "trays" made by my dentist - they take moulds of your teeth (trays) which you fill with a small amount of bleach and put in over night - after a couple of days you have gleaming white teeth. The price is approx £200 but once you have the trays you can just top up when you teeth begin to discolour. It is best to see a dentist for this - the trays need to be made to fit your own teeth rather than the kits you buy which are one size fits all - the problem with the highstreet version is that it is easy for the bleach to get on the gums and then this can cause blisters etc. The bleach costs approx £50 for four tubes - it comes in various strengths which your dentist will advise on. I am very pleased with the results - you must discuss this with your dentist - some teeth will never whiten so it is not worth spending any money until you have had a consultation with an expert.

Using the Phillips Sonic Care toothbrush really helped to whiten mine. May not do the trick for everyone, but it did for me. I LOVE that toothbrush, my teeth have NEVER been so clean with a normal toothbrush.

The next best thing is a product like the Crest White Strips. These are less expensive, and they work fairly well. These take longer to do though. The next thing after that, and the least expensive are toothpastes with tooth whitening properties in it. However, these are not good for actually whitening the teeth. Don't worry about whitening them until your braces come off. If you whiten them now (which I don't think you can) you will have whiter teeth except where the brackets are at. So then when your braces come off you'll have to whiten again.
