What is the reasoning behind not being able to whiten teeth while breastfeeding?
--------------------
If they usually use a bleaching agent on the teeth and as you know your gums can absorb/or you could ingest the chemical which can be passed through breast milk

What different procedures are available for teeth whitening ?
I want to have my teeth professionally whitened . My sister had her teeth lasered last year before her wedding and she said because of it, her teeth feel more sensitive now than they were before. She also said they are blotchy now ( a year later ) . It cost her $800 ( Aus Dollars) and i don't want to pay that much for something that doesn't work. Is there such a thing as teeth bleaching, would that be more affective ?, and more safe ? I'm going to a teeth specialist next week so i'll ask him then, but now i'm just curious to see if anyone here has any experience with teeth whitening. thanks in advance for your help :)
--------------------
Main procedures 1. In office, like your sister. 2. Take home trays, which are made by the dentist, and you are given the bleach material done daily (costs about half as much). 3. Over the counter products like "Crest White Strips" (most inexpensive). With any bleach material, teeth usually become sensitive. You could lessen this by using fluoride, like "Act," which can be bought at any drug store. General rules: hydrogen peroxide is stronger than carbamide peroxide, strips are better than brush on gels (allows longer contact with teeth).

Is there a age for teeth whitening?
Well I'm 12.And I was on google for soft prices on health-care and I came on teeth whitening in the dental categories.By the way the website is pricedoc.com. My friend katie showed me all about it and I was amazed on how small the prices were. The cheapest price for teeth whitening was 250$ around here in New Jersey. Is there age or teeth whitening? my friend katie says no , but my other friend farrah said there is depending on your dentist and age. I don't belive there is age limit , but is there and why? - Thanks :)
--------------------
You should not have your teeth whitened until you are, at least, 18 years old. Your teeth are still erupting and you will end up with part of your tooth whitened and the part that is not fully in will not be whitened. Also, beware of how many times you whiten your teeth once you become an adult. Whitening eventually removes the pigment from your teeth. The more times you whiten the worse it gets! I have seen, at least, three patients who have whitened their teeth so many times that their front teeth are becoming clear instead of tooth colored. Instead of looking like teeth - they look like opaque windows. Don't do that to your teeth!

Whitening teeth and baking soda????? Is it safe?
I really want to whiten my teeth but they say to use baking soda ....is it safe for my teeth. If so how do i do it??????? Should i just dip my toothbrush in the backing soda????? what should i do????
--------------------
It can be safe as long as you do not use more than twice a week. Then the harm would be turning your gums white since baking soda is like sand. Your suppose to put your toothpaste on then sprinkle/dip it in baking soda. Without toothpaste you won't be doing much to help clean your teeth. Also there are toothpaste with baking soda in them, maybe you can try them out too. The thing is I've tried it and it doesn't work.

Was my laser teeth whitening treatment just a con?
I spent £250 on a 1 hour teeth whitening session (really painful and has left my teeth very sensitive) and for about 2 days, my teeth were dramatically whiter...2 months on, they look the same as they used to, even though I have been using the bleaching kit the guy gave me every week. They were never that yellow anyway, but I wanted them REALLY white, like as white as all the celebs seem to have them. I am so annoyed, I feel like I have been ripped off. Has anyone else had this experience? Why aren't my teeth whiter? How can I get them really white??? :-(
--------------------
Did you have them whitened within a dental surgery setting, does not sound like it as many dentists will actually do a test tooth to see what the degree of sensitivity will be. Trouble is everyone is sold the treatment as the be all and end all of having white teeth and with some people it just will not work. As stated the really white teeth seen in the media are veneers which is a longer and much slower process. Your problem is the sensitivity you have been left with has now been with you for two months so sadly it maybe a permanent thing for you now. It is a major risk with teeth whitening and is very understated away from the dental surgeries. ****Okay you have stated that you had it done in a beauty salon. That means it was done by an unqualified person with scant regard to the risks involved. It is now really very important that you forget the failed whitening and deal with the long term and probably permanent issue of sensitivity. You do need to see a dentist as soon as possible and discuss what can be done to restrict the damage.***

Crest teeth whitening strips?
Well i've never used any teeth whitening methods before. Until a couple of days ago when it was necessary. I have a question though, i just want to make sure im doing this right. Im supposed to brush my teeth first right? Then put on the strips a couple of minutes afterwards, then after 30 minutes i take them off. My question is, all of that goo that comes off the strips is that supposed to stay on after i take the strips off? Or do i make sure all of that is out of my mouth? Thanks for any help. =]
--------------------
You're supposed to rinse after you take the strips out. Trust me, you don't want the bleaching agent on any longer than the instructions say. It can really irritate your gums.

best teeth whitening treatment ?
I am very self conscious about my teeth as they arnt sparkling white what is the best way to make them white quickly whithout treatment ?
--------------------
Those Crest Whitening Strips work very well, as long as you're not worried about your teeth enamel. But really you could go to the dentist and they'll make a mold of your mouth. About a week later they should give you these syringe looking things with the teeth whitening stuff that you put in the mold and keep in for 30 minutes. Otherwise, just brush 'em, brush 'em, brush 'em

Please give me feedback on the best or most over the counter effective teeth-whitening product.?
Crest Strips, Mentadent, etc etc. Ovet the counter stuff.

Most of the OTC stuff is marginal at best. I've tried a few but never really had good results. I went for a basic checkup at my dentist and the cleaning that the dental hygienist performed outdid that stuff. If you're really want your teeth white - save up to have the dentist do it with the right equipment. You'll have it done right the first time in a safe and controlled environment. If you're really into white teeth, get caps. But then you might look like Sammy Hagar and that just is not natural.

I asked my dentist about teeth whitening...?
And he said "I'm afraid it would not be a good idea as teeth whitening requires multiple visits for such a treatment, it may not even last for long and may damage the enamel." I'm 17 but I feel he may be saying this because he can't be arsed with the treatment, so I'm guessing he attempted to create some sort of story to get himself out of it. I'm a UK citizen and pay privately for my dentist seeing as the NHS is as good as public transport's reliability. My teeth aren't that white nor are they that yellow either. On a teeth whitening chart, they are probably about half way but these charts vary. I also currently wear braces (nearly time for them to come off) and I'm wondering if I could get them whitened after my braces come off? However, my orthodentist (who I am also paying privately) said my dentist is very conservative (my orthodentist and my dentist are both friends). Cheers. Arnold

Teeth Whitening Product ?
Hi Can anyone tell me in your opinion what the best product for whitening teeth is ? Thanks!
--------------------
Tooth whitening can cost anything from $400 for Laser whitening and upwards for a professional laser whitening treatment, to a do it yourself kit for $29.99 off the Internet. However, the active ingredients that turn the tooth white are almost always the same - a carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide solution. Your dentist will likely use a 22-45% carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide solution which is a relatively strong solution while in the chair, and will give you a 16-22% solution for use at home. However, this can vary greatly according to your sensitivity and the actual whitening agent used. The strips work OK if you have perfectly straight teeth. If you don't you will get ugly lines where the strips don't quite line up. Cheapest is to use a bleaching kit with trays for use at home with a good amount of the active ingredients.

Teeth whitening/bleaching?
I picked up my whitening kit from the dentist. It's a 16% PolaNight. I'm using my Invisalign aligners. The kit has these syringes filled with gel that I put in the aligners. I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried the bleaching kit. How effective is it? It says to keep the stuff on at least 2 hours. Can I wear it all night? And are there certain foods/drink that will stain my teeth during this process? I don't drink coffee but do drink soda ever so often. The lady at the dentist said to use it till you're happy with the color. Do most people just use all the syringes?

Dazzle White Pro is probably the one that I get the best results from. It truly lives up to it's promises as you can see results in as little as 10 minutes, with no need to wait days or weeks to see any results. It is a little pen applicator which applies the whitening product to your teeth and after only a few minutes . . . you will see results, just as I did. It's truly a new type of whitening product. Best of All: You can try it absolutely free so you can see if their claims add up -- which if you're like me, you'll see results. I put the website in the resource box. Get your free trial today, I don't think it is lasting much longer . . . if you don't then you will only wonder why you didn't take advantage of it, and kick yourself for missing out on this remarkable product.

how much does teeth whitening cost?
im in the UK
--------------------
There are few ways of teeth whitening - In-home; Office, Whitening strips. Since you had braces, I guess strips won't work for you. Office whitening is the most expensive. It goes 6-10 shades immediately and costs $400-$800 here in States - depends on the method, your doc, etc...It's done by putting the bleach on your teeth and using the light to work on it... In-home kits are in my opinion less invasive, less painful and more suitable for your age, if you really need a whitening. The doc will take a print of your teeth, will make a form and you will just put a whitening agent inside and stuck it on your teeth for some amount of time. It takes few days, but the results are same or very close to the office method. I had an office method done last year before getting a crown for my implant. For me it was horrible experience. I have a sensitive teeth and 2 hours after the procedure I was in excrutiating pain. It lasted for few hours and was gone, but I would never do it again. If I ever needed to whiten my teeth, I would opt for an In-home kit. Since you are 13, the whitening is not very good for you, but after the braces removal your teeth may be stained. Your dentist is a specialist and he will determine the best way for you considering your age, your teeth sensitivity, etc. Good luck! :)

Best TEETH whitening SOLD IN DRUG STORES?
lesss than $30. and dont say brushing your teeth or Whitenimg toothpate.
--------------------
Discuss this with your dentist at your next visit. The strips work well, but the results aren't lasting. The office one hour bleaching works great but is very expensive and usually last a few years. The best I've seen is the bleaching trays with a mild solution that your doctor prescribes. With the trays you and your doctor monitor your bleaching progress. Once you've reached the brightest shade, usually in about two weeks you are finished. The up side to this is you get to keep your trays and the solution. So when ever you think your teeth are getting dull from coffee, tea and other staining foods, usually every 3-4 months, you can bleach for thirty minutes to an hour and be right back to bright. And anytime you need more solution your doctor can provide it. Most patients seem to perfer this way over most others and get the best results. And the solution isn't harmful to the teeth, it does not remove any enamel, only stain thats attached to the enamel. The down side to this is you don't get instant results. Not much of a down side, is it? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages with your doctor, he/she will be the best to advise you. Hope I've been of some help to you. Good luck!

I have a question about teeth whitening.?
So I have been using Peroxide and Baking Soda to whiten my teeth and I use it daily, day and night. I have been seeing results and it has only been 4 days. I told my brother about it and he said that it can have some side effects, like my teeth getting very sensitive for a couple of weeks after im done using it. (I have stopped using it because i'm afraid this might be true) Plus he has already used Crest Whitening Strips and he said that they had the same effect. Can someone tell me... . Will my teeth get sensitive after the whitening process? . Is Peroxide mixed with Baking Soda safe? . Will my enamel start to fade if I keep using this mix?

Hi, Lot of people do face problems with yellow teeth. The reason for yellow teeth can be less calcium, smoking or coffee. Some people face problems like yellow to faint yellow teeth also because of too much brushing or using products which harm teeth. While baking soda or peroxide can make your teeth white but it is not recommended. Dentists world over do not recommend use of such pure form substances on teeth as they harm your teeth in longer run. Not all whitening trays are good, in fact many people have complained about irritation and pain with trays. Lot of people want white teeth so that they can smile big and don't get embarrassed while talking to friends and colleagues. Such people can use teeth whitening pens which are 100% safe for your teeth. The best thing about these products is that you can easily get FREE trial to have white teeth. You may order your free trials and have white teeth. You just have to pay for the shipping and handling. Its always better to try before you buy and I am sure it will work for everyone including you. BTW the website where you can get such free samples is http://www.freeteethwhiteningsamples.com - Its the first top product listed there. I am not promoting the website nor am I associated with it in any manner. Just trying to help someone who is worried about bad/yellow teeth. Hope this helps. Thanx :-)

Does This Look Like A Good Teeth Whitening Solution?
I am looking to whiten my teeth after quitting smoking for over 10 years. My teeth have a small tint of yellow and I think its disgusting now. Amazing how these things don't bother you when you are a dedicated smoker. Anyway I wanted to get peoples opinion on teeth whitening. I really don't like the idea of going to dentist because its so expensive, plus I just hate the dentist office experience in general I found this offer for luminous brites http://www.cresttoothwhitening.com Its only $4.99 to start which covers shipping shipping and then they send you a shipment each month for $79.99. Has anyone tried these in home solutions? Do they work and is it worth the $80 per month verses the dental visit? I see some dentists are charging over $2k for teeth whitening Thanks Max
--------------------
I would definitely suggest it because I used it and it worked. At first I was reluctant to spend all that money but in the end, the results were worth but I would suggest that you go see the dentist because they may have a better solution that might not cost as much but I doubt it. Its awesome that you quit smoking though!!!

Teeth Whitening Kits/Remedies that actually work?
Crest Whitening Strips (including Premium) did nothing for me, 4 boxes later. Are the other kits better? Or maybe those kits are for people with white teeth already who just want a lil pearly boost? Is there anything else I can try at home to make my teeth less yellow? I dont drink coffee or smoke or drink too many sodas. Im paying the price for not caring for them when I was a kid. They have been yellow for the past 13 years. I cant afford professional bleaching just yet. So any remedies, even unsafe remedies, please share! Also, do the dental school's do whitening at a discount or is that just cavities and such?
--------------------
Most people's teeth are not white - they usually have slight yellow or grey in them. My cousin has naturally very white teeth but most people's arent that white. Hollywood stars, models and celebrities mainly have crowned teeth. You could save up and go to the denist and have the bleaching treatment. Dont wreck you teeth using some noxious stuff. They are to chew your food with, and you could damage them permanently. Notice other peoples teeth - they are not that white. I'm not sure if dental schools do bleaching treatment you could phone and ask. When you have some money you could have them crowned or veneers put on veneers are cheaper and you can have them done a couple at a time. They look really good and more natural than crowns

Best way to whiten teeth? whitening products, do they hurt?
What are some really good teeth whitening products I can use? Also, I have one tooth that's out of alignment and starting to get hidden behind on of the other teeth (hopefully I can get Invisline braces after I graduate college) so would the strips kind still work alright on that tooth? Or should I get paste or gel kind? And i've heard these products can make teeth sensitive..is this just temporary, or can it be damaging? And does using baking soda really help? Baking soda toothpaste doesn't do crap, but how about straight baking soda?

I am currently using Rembrandt's Professional White. It is a gel that you leave on your teeth for twenty minutes max every night. It isn't awful at all and I have had no side effects. As for the braces, I am a college student and have been wearing invisalign for almost a year now. There are not noticeable and for small changes like just one tooth out of line it is a simple task. Also if you do end up getting invisalign, they work as whitening trays. Every night I just put the rembrandt whitening gel into my liners and leave it in overnight. In the morning it rinses out fine and I straightened and whitened my teeth all at the same time.

How to whiten my teeth naturally?
I have heard that baking soda works to whiten teeth but is it okay to use that with caps on my teeth and I use a retainer every night? Or is there any other ways of whitening my teeth naturally? Thanks
--------------------
If by "naturally" you mean without peroxide, then you can TRY baking soda, but to be completely honest, you will NOT notice a very dramatic effect...maybe a 1/2 shade lighter? Further, if you have caps, ANY whitening procedure/process probably won't HURT them...however, caps (and bonded composite fillings of any sort) will NOT whiten at all! If you intend to do any whitening, go ahead and do it, get teeth as white as you can and then you'd have to replace bonding/caps w/ new ones to match the new color. let me know if you still have questions! good luck!

Teeth whitening/bleaching kits?
I am getting married in August and would like to know of any tooth whitening/bleaching kits that really work. I live in England. Or how much do dentists charge to bleach them?
--------------------
I've done both home bleaching and ones at the dentist. I found that the dentist's really got deep down stains and was permanent even though I didn't get the results I expected. It didn't look drastically different like I had wanted, but my dentist said it was, "More natural looking that those fake bright white blinding teeth." Ugh lol. That treatment was a few hundred dollars, not bad. But once or twice a year I use like 2 weeks worth of Crest White Strips and those really seem to do the trick too. Although if you have sensitive gums you might want to watch out, they can make them a little raw for a few days. But they don't bother me much. Not sure if they have these in England though. Sorry if I wasn't much help.

I use crest white strips and I think if you follow the directions on them and use them properly they work well, and ive also used 3 different kinds of gel whitening kits with a blue light it comes with to whiten it. I think they work pretty well too, but it is important to keep up with it and use things like whitening mouthwash. I think the gel stuff you chose will probably work cause all of the whitening things ive used have worked pretty well. Good Luck!

What whitening for teeth doesn't burn?
I recently purchased Crest Pro Effect Whitening Strips, and after two days the roof of my mouth was cracked, and my entire tongue feels like a severe burn. When I drink or eat anything acidic it now burns like crazy. No sensitivity on my teeth though... I'm looking for something else that won't make my mouth feel like it's on fire afterwords. Pretty disappointed though, bought the toothpaste too :/
