How much can the professional teeth whitening treatments provided by a dentist cost?
I have had braces and i am thinking about going to a dentist and getting my teeth whitened by a dentist. The only thing is i don't know how much it costs or even the procedures. Could someone please help me. thanks.
--------------------
Hi my friend, My dentist told me $400 for the trays of professional whitener professionally molded to the shape of your teeth. ($200 top, $200 bottom) but if I wait until January, it's discounted to only $300 ($150 top, $150 bottom) My dentist also offers the one I forget the name but it uses light to whiten, but that costs $800 and does the same thing. Both options my dentist offered are 10x better than the whiten-at-home things, and they are done professionally. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THE WHITEN-AT-HOME SCAMS! You see, for only $300 I can get my teeth professionally whitened, but if I spend $80 like ten times over the course of several years for the ones like Luminous Brites (SCAM), I could have just as easily spent that $800 on the light-whitening thing at the dentist, or I could do the $300 option that is just as good, and used the other $500 on something more important. Also, think about the time you'll have to spend doing it yourself - not to mention most people never even finish one set of them because it's tedious! Also, all the ones you can do yourself like Lumious Brites (SCAM) many people have reported it causing sensitive gums, which is a serious dental issue and could cost you another $1,000 - $3,000 in dentist costs! So just save like $300 and get your dentist to professionally do it for you. Then you have no worries! Also it's just a waste of money to pay for the light-whitening or laser-whitening. The dentist makes a ton of money off it too, so don't let him/her sell you on it! It really works no better than the professional whitening that is placed in a plastic/rubber/ish [professional] impression of your teeth. Also your dentist knows what he's doing and if he screws up you can sue him for malpractice so at least you have a fall-back plan so you don't get screwed up gums and stuck with a $3,000 dental bill. If you screw up your gums yourself, you have no fall-back plan; and plus you're not an expert but your dentist is. Hope this helps! Good luck!

What teeth whitening methods can I use that won't hurt my sensitive teeth?
I have really sensitive teeth and I'd really like to whiten them. I've tried using Crest Whitestrips before, but after a few days my teeth start to ache and I have to stop. Is this typical/normal? I am looking for an inexpensive way to whiten my teeth without being irresponsible and damaging them. Any suggestions?

consulting a dentist is the best way to be able to choose the best, safe and effective teeth whitening system. he may recommend you a good teeth whitener that contains good quality ingredients that will not harm teeth and gums. some teeth whitening kits contain harmful ingredients that can cause gum problems. stained teeth are caused by the foods and drinks that you consume that can possibly discolor teeth like red wine, tea, coffee, colas and chocolates and more. it is best that you refrain from consuming them. if not, then you can use a straw when drinking. proper brushing and flossing will help remove stains after eating. visit http://www.trustedhealthproducts.com for more tips on how to whiten teeth.

Is it okay to wear my retainers after whitening my teeth?
I'm using the Target brand teeth whitening wraps. I wear my retainers every night. Is it okay to continue wearing my retainers after whitening my teeth? Would it affect it at all? (Like lines, etc..)
--------------------
i have plastic retainers and i use crest white stripes..what i found works really well is to wear your retainers while using the white strips (just put the retainers over the white strips) this way u dont feel the strips or the stuff on them. so i put in my white strips + retainers and wear them for atleast 30 minutes then take the strips out and put back in my retainers. and dont brush after you whiten, it will take off the effect..do this at night and brush in the morning. this didnt harn my retainers in anyway, crest white strips r probably stronger then the target brand so i wouldnt worry..depends on your type of retainer, maybe call your ortho. to comfirm though just incase, well good luckk:)

Is it safe to use teeth whitening products with a broken tooth?
I chipped my tooth last week and didn't get an appointment until this weekend, but I have some engagements during this week and wanted to use my tooth whitening products. Will it cause any sensitivity or damage? (No nerves are exposed, it's just a little chip on the corner of my front tooth.)

Is it ok teeth whitening top of filling?
Hi, I want to do teeth whitening for my up front teeth. But I have almost in every tooth small fillings. In here mostly they use Zoom Teeth Whitening System. So I wonder if I do whitening would it cause 2 different tone white color on the tooth? I mean filling area and the other part will be the same color?
--------------------
no, filling will remain the shade it is, and your teeth will be few shades lighter. You might see a difference in 2, you might not...depending whether you had whitening done before or not-usually if you whiten for the first time you can bring your teeth few shades lighter...if you already bleached your teeth previously, they might not be as susceptible to bleaching

Are teeth whitening strips bad for your teeth?
I'm thinking of using crest whitening strips, but I am not exactly sure how they work. I know some teeth whitening methods sort of strip the enamel, and I know strips sometimes make teeth sensitive. Does this mean they are bad for teeth?
--------------------
They are totally worth it! Use them! I do and am totally happy with the results, and have no negative side effects! If you are worried about sensitivity, you can try the ones for sensitive teeth. I haven't used them though so I don't know how well they work. Just don't use the super advanced kind, cuz that kind has more chemicals. Stick to the original and I promise you will get great results!

Any 'myth' methods that actually work for teeth whitening ?
Does anyone know any DIY teeth whitening that actually works and isn't harmful to your teeth ? Or any products that give instant effects ?

Hi, Lot of people do face problems with yellow teeth. The reason for yellow teeth can be less calcium, smoking or coffee. Some people face problems like yellow to faint yellow teeth also because of too much brushing or using products which harm teeth. While baking soda or peroxide can make your teeth white but it is not recommended. Dentists world over do not recommend use of such pure form substances on teeth as they harm your teeth in longer run. Not all whitening trays are good, in fact many people have complained about irritation and pain with trays. Lot of people want white teeth so that they can smile big and don't get embarrassed while talking to friends and colleagues. Such people can use teeth whitening pens which are 100% safe for your teeth. The best thing about these products is that you can easily get FREE trial to have white teeth. You may order your free trials and have white teeth. You just have to pay for the shipping and handling. Its always better to try before you buy and I am sure it will work for everyone including you. BTW the website where you can get such free samples is http://www.freeteethwhiteningsamples.com - Its the first top product listed there. I am not promoting the website nor am I associated with it in any manner. Just trying to help someone who is worried about bad/yellow teeth. Hope this helps. Thanx :-)

Is there an at home teeth whitening kit that whitens back teeth also?
I drink a lot of tea and coffee and I know I can whiten my front teeth, but don't know of how to whiten the back ones.
--------------------
Bleaching material is not suppose to whiten the back teeth the reason is because the further back the material is the greater the chance you will swallow it and whitening material is not to be swallowed.

Tooth whitening only keeps the teeth white for a few days? Why?
I leave the tooth whitening gel on for half an hour (both the 5 minute kind as well as the 30 minute kind) The teeth look a few shades whiter, but within 2-3 days to a week, the teeth are as yellow as straw again, and I'm whitening every week or sooner ? Is this normal?
--------------------
Yes it is normal, your teeth are obviously naturally a shade of yellow. All teeth are not naturally "hollywood" white, they are different shades of off white. I have the same problem, although my yellow teeth was caused by 34 years of tea drinking in England I had them professionally whitened in the USA about 3 months ago. They are now starting to come back to a yellow shade even though I brush 4 times a day, here's my routine for trying to whiten them, arm and hammer baking soda and peroxide, I use pure baking soda after drinking coffee (i no longer drink tea as the tannin will stain your teeth), I then use a tooth sensitive paste. Then I will use whitening strips or whitening gel with a mould. Still yellow. after 6 months of this routine, $400 in pro teeth cleaning with Zoom whitening, baking soda, whitening products, strips so I am realising that hollywood has again warped our view of the body, yellowish teeth are natural people! Hollywood and CNN actors use veneers which are basically plastic strips which goes over the teeth to create the snobby illusion that they are better than everyone else. YELLOW TEETH ARE FRICKIN NORMAL!!!!!

Questions about teeth whitening and whitening products?
What is the average cost of professional teeth-whitening? And are there any teeth-whitening products you have tried and would recommend?
--------------------
The best way to whiten one's teeth is to do it professionally this way the results will be far safer and more pronounced then if one were to use a generic teeth whitening product like Crest White Strips. The reasoning behind this is that if you go to a dentist and get your teeth professionally whitened, you are doing this in a controlled manner. You are given usually two carpules of whitening gel to start with, usually carbomide peroxide which is at a higher percentage of peroxide then that of Crest White strips etc. and the whitening is controlled by that of your dentist, so therefore you are not damaging your teeth by whitening too frequently, leaving the trays in for too long etc. When you use a product like Crest White strips you are at your own mercy. I have used both professional whitening products and have used Crest White strips and the differences were quite noticeable. After using Crest White strips Premium, I had quite significant sensitivity to colds. Even breathing in air caused my teeth to hurt and the results were not that great. As well with Crest White strips it is really hard to keep the lower strip onto your teeth without your saliva washing some off, you accidentally ingesting it etc. It tastes really gross, not to mention excess swallowing of peroxide gel can cause you to have a sore throat and possibly become sick. Hence is why I don't recommend drugstore whitening kits. With a professional tooth whitening system such as Opalescence Xtra Boost Whitening System, you actually get a custom made tray made to specifically fit your teeth. This way you don't accidentally ingest any of the whitening gel, and you are able to wear the whitening trays without having to worry about your saliva getting in the way. A dentist/dental assistant will take a alginate impression of your teeth, then will pour up a stone model of your teeth. They will then take a vacuum former and seal this over the stone model creating a tray, they will cut it, smooth it out and you have your tray. I would highly suggest the Opalescence whitening system, as I have tried it myself and the results were great, no sensitivity to cold afterwards and no ingesting of the peroxie. The key with this product though is using it sparingly and giving yourself time between applications as it has a higher percentage of peroxide than that of Crest White strips therefore you can damage your teeth if not monitored. Average prices for this product are $250 to $500 and the prices don't include alginate impressions, study model and whitening tray. However, this is FAR more pricier than Crest White strips, $50 for Crest White Strips Premium, I think you will get far better results and be more pleased with the Opalescence. I DO not however recommend the Zoom whitening as it can be very damaging and painful to teeth. Here's more info: http://www.ultradent.com/pressroom.php?i

What are some good teeth whitening products on the market today?
I have been wanting to do some over-the-counter tooth whitening lately. I have tried peroxide rinses and baking soda, and neither have given me noticeable results. I have been interested in different whitening strips, and I have heard on TLC's What Not to Wear that Crest White strips Premium tend to work well. What other products work? Thank you for your help.

Is expired Day White teeth whitening solution safe? What are the negative effects?
I found an unopened Day White Teeth Whitening solution syringe, which my dentist gave me 2 years ago. I used it with my teeth mold for whitening. However, when I used the solution, the clear solution was almost a liquid - usually, it's a gel, and I had to squeeze some of the solution out before I was able to combine the white & clear gels. Will further use of this solution cause damage to my teeth? Will it be effective?
--------------------
Hmmm....I don't think it will cause any damage to your teeth, but it may not work as well as it did when you first received it. I would say get some new teeth whitening solution.
