whitening teeth?

unfortunately, i think my teeth might be naturally dark. my mom said she used to have the problem, but it is hard to fix because i have braces right now (top and bottom). i don't get them off for maybe a year. i heard from my pediatric dentist that toothpastes don't actually whiten ur teeth; they just bleach them. i want to know what ppl wit this problem use on their teeth, like gel or something, cuz i can't do the "zoom" thing. thx in advance.
--------------------
I have the same issue.... I got this toothpaste from my dentist called Fluoridex, its really good for your teeth and gets them to a better color. I use it both in the morning and at night. Remember to use mouthwash after, also, if mint makes you drool, wash your mouth out between brushing and mouthwash. Wash your mouth out real good, because when I once swallowed my toothpaste(By major accident) I got a stromach ache.... Learn from my mistake.... Best of luck!!

Can i still whiten my teeth while I'm preggo?

I'm about 17wks preggo and before I was preggo I used Plus White teeth whitening...I was wondering if anyone knows if its a OK to whiten teeth while a pregnancy?
--------------------
Of course you can. Teeth whitener would not harm the baby in anyway, as long as you don't swallow too much. Teeth whiteners are made to be non toxic as it's in your mouth. Congrats on your baby. =]

how can you whiten your teeth for free?

I want to whiten my teeth without having to pay a ton of money at the dentist or on useless whitening strips. I also don't want to use baking soda and peroxide anymore, that dosen't work for me for some reason. I've been trying that forever.
--------------------
You can try these. Strawberries are natural teeth whiteners, simply rub them directly on your teeth or mash into a paste and apply. Apple cider vinegar can also be used for teeth whitening.More remedies and information regarding your teeth at http://useinfo-teethwhitening.blogspot.c…

Is it safe to use bleach and baking soda to brush teeth to try and remove stains from my teeth?

I am getting tired of going into the stores and buying all of these teeth whitening products which don't seem to be working at all. I was told by a friend last week that I should try brushing with a little bleach and baking soda.
--------------------
No Bleach!!! Try baking soda and wet it with peroxide ( brush as usual) I had awfully yellow teeth and crest whitestrips premium worked wonders (use for 10 days) Now I use arm and hammer whitening t.p to maintain and about 1.5 to 2 years redo the whitestrips.....

teeth whitening w/ braces on?

k, so i have had braces for 1 year. i brush twice a day and i've noticed my teeth have gotten a lot yellower. i know that the rectangles hidden by the bracked on each tooth has a lighter shade compared to the rest of my teeth. so how do i get my teeth a shade brighter...??? does ACT mouth wash help? pleaseelp, i want to be able to fix this in like 2 weeks or so...
--------------------
Well a teeth whitening may look good, but did you know teeth whitening can also damage your teeth permanently. I suggeest you brush every night for at least 10-20 min. to get those yellow marks out. Also never put chemical whitning in your teeth they will not work and most likely to knock out your teeth.

I have a teeth whitening problem!?

Today I got whitening gell from my dentist... I'm using a clear retainer for the treatments. After I put the trays in, my gums started stinging in certain areas. Then I noticed a small white spot on one section of my gums. When the stinging stopped, I put the trays back in but the white never went away. Is this permanent? Or is it just like burning your tounge and will heal soon?
--------------------
It will go away soon. The whitening gel got on your gums (ouch) and bleached them. It doesn't last more than a couple of hours (if that) but be sure that when you apply the gel in the tray next time, you don't put too much because when you press it against your teeth some gel tends to spill out therefore getting onto your gums.

whats the best way to get really white teeth?

I brush my teeth two times a day... Just wondering is anyone knows any home methods available for whitening teeth... I heard baking power :s any ideas?
--------------------
this, i have small tips for you 1. Avoid drinking coffee and red wine. Usually, the second drink that can quickly leave the stain on teeth. 2. Eat vegetables can clean teeth.vegetables appeared to be clean teeth naturally. 3. Note brush your teeth. Brush you can not do "tasks" if the operation has been worn or outdated. You may not include people who can use a tooth brush in a long time, but believe many people are "loyal" to their brush teeth although age has been obsoleted eaten. If you care to brush your teeth, you will certainly understand that the toothbrush may not be able to clean the stain on your teeth if most of the hair brush that has been lost. 4. Strawberry fruit has a natural effect that can whiten teeth because the fruit contains Vitamin C that rate high. If you're eager to drink juice strawberry's, do not dispose of the waste. Take it and scrape pulp in teeth, taken shortly after, gargling. Do regularly to get the maximum results. 5. Skittleur teeth with the routine once every 12 hours is the basic rule that you must do to get the white teeth. This habit can protect teeth from plaque and stain that be naughty. 6. Rub lemon rind in the teeth can also whiten your teeth. Do with the regular results could survive that long. 7. Avoid smoking. Smoking is the fastest way to change the color of teeth yellow. 8. Take advantage of dental floss to clean teeth during the day at least once. Dirt is very easy to slip in during the teeth cleaned and if not, I will become tartar. 9. Use a toothpaste that has the formula to whiten teeth according to doctors advice. 10. Familiarize yourself to visit the dentist at least once a year subscription to get your dental care so that the operation other than the more clean, teeth can become stronger. you can follow this information at http://whitening-tooth.co…

Iam Going to Dentist and should i get my teeth whitened proffesionally?

Well i got an appointment and somebody told me that Crest strips make your teeth sensitive ....well i can afford Proffesionally done by doctor also but do they actually worth it and how long does they last ?...........
--------------------
The whitening done in the dental office will give you the best possible results. There still may be some sensitivity (About 10% of the time) but the dentist will be able to treat it and will only be temporary.

What should I do when my teeth are extra sensitive?

I whitened my teeth with an at-home bleaching kit from the dentist's office and my teeth only felt slightly sensitive while doing it. Then afterwards the pain got progressively worse until it was pretty excruciating, and now its better, but still a nagging pain and sensitivity. This has been going on for HOURS now! I have been using a special sensitivity toothpaste with flouride when I brush, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I also tried tylenol and vicodin which didn't help the pain either. Does anyone know any products or remedies or ANYTHING to help get rid of or prevent tooth sensitivity? I'm supposed to use that whitening kit at least a few times to get desired results, but now I'm dreading ever doing it again after the pain. Is there anything else I can do to combat the sensitivity? Thanks.
--------------------
Sensodyne-F Revitalizing contains fluoride which not only prevents cavities, but also helps strengthen and remineralize tooth enamel. There are several other immediate relief products out on the market. One of them is Orajel, which can numb the area for temporary pain relief. Also, I once tried a product that came with swabs to desensitize your teeth with and it's supposed to keep the pain away for at least a month after only one use. Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was called...but it did work. If you go to the store, you'll probably find other stuff like that around the oral care section.

Gums bleeched??? So I had the ingenius idea of whitening my teeth 2x as fast...?

So i had the idea of whitening my teeth 2x as fast... so i had my whitening toothpaste along with hydrogen peroxide and i was scrubbing while adding in the peroxide and i guess i scrubbed too much on a part of my mouth and my gums sting and now their WHITE !!!! sooo i think i bleeched my gums? -question is, will it go away soon? is it pernemant? eek!! stupid idea... any help??? was just gonna go on a 1st date...
--------------------
Nah, its not perminant. If you put bleach on your skin, you will get little white dots too. its nothing to be worried about. The peroxide was just killing the bacteria and some of the tissue on your gums. Just leave it alone... It should be gone in an hour or so.

Do you get your teeth whitened before getting braces?

I'm going to the dentist tonight and I need to know if you get your teeth whitened before getting braces
--------------------
NOOOOOO! Please trust me on this one-I'm a Dental Hygienist with Expanded Functions in the Field of Orthodontia. You NEVER bleach your teeth before braces! While your braces are on brush no less than 3x/day (I know it sounds like a lot but it's very easy to get stains on your teeth while in ortho). You should also invest in an electric toothbrush. Sonicare is an amazing brand (expensive but a very worth while investment). Onces your braces come off you can discuss bleaching options with your dentist :) Good Luck!

How to whiten teeth that have been bonded and pinned?

I want to know what to do to whiten them without goin' to the dentist, buying any products. * Feel free on stating your opinions on what I should do, it doesn't neccesarily need to be facts! :) btw I'm only 15.

Can toothpaste actually whiten the teeth?

I recently started using Crest Pearl, and on the cover, it states that it can actually cosmetically whiten teeth within 2 weeks. Is this true?
--------------------
no it wont, it may removed some staining, read the packaging properly and you will find it doesn't actually claim to whiten teeth, probably just make teeth look whiter (by removing staining), you would need a product with hydrogen peroxide in to whiten teeth and it would need to remain in contact with your teeth for a number of hours per day!

Best Product for Teeth Whitening....?

I have a very important party to go to on Saturday. My teeth are yellow-ish. What's a product that will make my teeth white by Saturday? I'm going to Walmart later today to purchase a kit, and I want real opinions, not what the manufacturers say about their own product. Oh, and possibly items less then $25? I know that's kind of impossible though. Thanks In Advance :)
--------------------
I've heard that using Baking Soda does wonders for whitening teeth. I did a little quick search and read that it can make your teeth whiter in just 14 days! (No, I'm not advertising lol) Wet your toothbrush with some water and dip it into baking soda. All of the bristles should be covered so that your toothbrush is white. Brush your teeth for 2 minutes (spitting if necessary) two times a day. Spit out the baking soda and rinse your mouth clean with water. If there is a tingling or burning feeling in your mouth, this is bad. See "Warnings" for what might not be normal. Brushing your teeth twice a day can be monumental for the whitening of teeth even without these tips & tricks - especially with the regular use of dental floss and mouthwash. Tips: After brushing your teeth, brush your tongue with your favorite spice and/or use a fruit. Bad breath is related to teeth only when they house food debris and plaque. The main cause of bad breath is bacteria growing on the gums. An alternative method involves putting baking soda on the toothbrush and wetting it with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide (the cheap stuff one pours on cuts). It really does work! Warnings: Do not use this method too often as the abrasive can permanently damage the enamel of your teeth. There are some special toothpaste brands (often for smokers) which contain much gentler abrasives than baking soda. They can be used daily without any risk for the health of your teeth and help to remove not only tobacco stains but also stains from coffee, tea, and wine. Baking soda can dissolve orthodontic glue. Do not use this method if you have braces or a permanent retainer. Best used only once or twice a month. Don't brush too hard for a longterm as it may damage your enamel (which is called as abrasion),leading to hypersensitivity. Don`t put too much baking soda or it will cause teeth to bleach. Now, there are quite a few warnings, whether or not you want to do this is totally up to you, I'm just here to help :)

How do you prevent / stop tooth sensitivity from whitening?

Over the last year I started drinking tea in the morning. Because of this, I've decided to whiten my teeth with the crest white strips. A friend of mine suggested doing the 14 day one, because its less harsh on your teeth (according to her). I've only been doing it for two days and my teeth are already starting to be sensitive to cold things. Any suggestions on how to prevent/stop the sensitivity? I want to continue using the strips because they seem to be working...
--------------------
6 Ways to eliminate sensitive during teeth whitening at home Sensitivity of the teeth to hot and cold is the most common side effects from teeth whitening at home. The symptoms are temporary and will subside in 1-3 days following termination of use of the whitening products. And You can also follow the ways to reduce or eliminate the sensitivity of the teeth. First of all, Check to make sure you are not overloading the application of bleach. Breaking up the amount of time whitening is done into smaller, longer spaced segments, will alleviate the sensitivity problem. Brush your teeth with Sensodyne toothpaste and use a soft-bristle toothbrush. The sensodyne toothpaste has a high concentration of fluoride and the fluoride will stop the senstivity. Try taking ibuprofen for acute sensitivity. The dentist or the pharmacist can be asked to prescribe a product containing high fluoride to restore the mineral content of the teeth. If the above methods can not prevent your sensitive teeth, stop the whitening for a few days to allow the teeth to get adjusted to the teeth whitening treatment. http://www.teethwhiteningbest.com/teeth-…
