From my experience the dentist whitening system works much better, especially if you can find a time when they have a good deal on it. They will make imprints of your teeth and create trays especially for you, and then you can always reuse them and you will only have to pay for the chemical for future appointments, it worked so well, and im a smoker and my teeth were still much whiter then they have ever been before. Ive also tried strips from the store and stuff, but they never worked for me.

dont drink things with caffenine brush your teeth after you eat. honestly i dont think it hurts to use whitening tooth paste or crest white strips i ahve used both and it hasnt done any harm at all not to my gums or anything so try it and if it doesnt affect your gums or hurt you should be fine.

After whitening my teeth, extreme gum pain...what should I do?
I whitened my teeth several days ago, and I have whitened my teeth several times before, without problems. This time, however, my gums were very sensitive, and have slowly worsened, and are now to the point where I can't eat or talk without extreme pain. My gums and the part that connects my lip to my gums, are in extreme pain. I don't know what's wrong, and if I should just continue numbing it and wait it out, as I have been told to do, or if it's serious enough that I should make a dentist's appointment. Please help!

Stay away from whitening until it gets resolved. it can be an allergy but if you are using the same stuff as before, it probably isn't. you probably has the gel contact the gums for too long. this is common but it will go away, just don't aggravate it more by whitening more. if it doesn't go away, see your dentist. keep smiling

Use a whitening toothpaste on a daily basis like crest and try the crest white strips they really work but be careful your teeth will hurt in the beginning. If you drink coffee, tea, wine or soda that can stain your teeth so make sure once u whiten your teeth to stay away from those things. If you smoke that definitley stains your teeth. My advice as a dental hygienist try the strips first and if your not happy with the results u can even try the whitening trays from your dentist or zoom which is an hour procedure.

Brush with baking soda, swish and rinse with full strength peroxide. Be very careful not to swallow any of the peroxide. Keep spitting the peroxide out until your mouth is as empty of the peroxide as it can be, scraping your tongue with your teeth each time before spitting. Then dry your tongue and outside of your mouth with a clean dry towel and leave your teeth at that until time for the next brushing, then repeat this procedure. I think you should start to see a big improvement in the brightness of your teeth within the first couple of days.

Is it alright to use whitening strips on trauma tooth?
I once had a bad fall which made my tooth discolor, I done root canal treatment on that tooth. So, is it alright to use whitening strips on it? And will the whitening strips regains my discolor tooth back to the normal teeth color I have?

With what I know, the discoloration comes from the inside of the tooth, and the whitening can't reach too far into the tooth. If it did, then your vital teeth would all get painful. There is such a thing as intracoronal bleaching wherein a bleaching agent is placed within the root canal treated tooth to whiten its shade. Another solution that I can recommend is for you to have your teeth whitened, then if you feel that trauma tooth is still an off color compared to your other teeth, then you can go to a Dentist and have that tooth crowned. The porcelain crown will be made to match the color of the rest of your teeth. Good luck and I hope I helped you out
