teeth whitening?

can anyone recommend a teeth whitening product that really works.
--------------------
You should speak to a dentist before purchasing a tooth whitening kit as some of them can damage the enamel on your teeth. My dentist said that it would be far better to get a tan!

Teeth Whitening?

i want to use whitening trays BUT i have super sensitive teeth. i mean super sensitive. (tried sensodyne, didnt help btw.) What can I do?
--------------------
they may be too strong for you. they hurt my teeth if i use them 2x a day like suggested on the box. to lessen the intensity, do not brush your teeth immediately before using the trays. if they are too intense for you, stop using. give them to your mom or someone. (my mom gave me the whitestrips she bought and found painful to use.) a good toothpaste is colgate total whitening. there is a vivid white by crest but i tried it and it didn't work well and it's not ADA approved. if you check toothpastes, not all are approved by the American Dental Association, meaning the claims have not been validated. most whitening toothpastes, like vivid white and rembrandt are not ADA approved, but colgate total whitening is. if the toothpaste is too strong, talk to your dentist about what to use.

Teeth Whitening?

What teeth-whitening kits have you used ? Should I use a gel kit , strips , or a light-powered kit ? OR would I be better off getting them whitened at my dentist , and about how much would that cost me ?
--------------------
I've used Crest Whitening Strips and they work good for the price ($35.00). Of course, a professional whitening will give you the best results, but that can cost you about ten times that amount. All in all, the more you spend, the whiter your teeth.

Have you tried any teeth whitening products?

If so which one was it? did it work? I'm just wondering since everyday i see more commercials about such. answer only if you have tried any.
--------------------
I tried most of the ones in the $20.00 range. They aren't any better that just using 2 tsp of baking soda and 1 tsp of cider vinegar. Mix them and brush your teeth with it until you can't stand the taste anymore. It sounds gross, but it works.

Which is the best Teeth whitening method?

The Strips? if so which is the best Crest Aquafresh CVS Rembrandt The paste stuff? what kind what is the BEST way to whiten?
--------------------
i believe the best way is to have your dentist or a professional do it. you will have better looking, longer lasting results. as far as over the counter.. i have used the crest strips and could only wear them for a couple of days. my teeth were so sensitIve to them that for a week after my teeth ached (like if you have something too cold.) and no matter what i ate, they hurt. but ive known lots of people who have had lots of success with the strips. so give them a try and i hope your teeth don't become super sensitive like mine did =)

Fast and affective teeth whitening?

What is the cheapest, quickest way of whitening severely stained teeth when brushing alone doesn't help? Are there any products on the market that ACTUALLY work and works fast?
--------------------
If your teeth are severely stained, you need to get them cleaned professionally. The cleaning will remove much of the stain, and you can speak to the dentist or dental hygienist about your options of whitening. This doesn't mean that you have to get a professional whitening from them (it's very expensive), but you can ask them if your teeth would accept whitening. You may have staining caused by an abnormality that occurred while your teeth were being formed; if this is the case, you would have to ask the dentist about options you have to make your teeth look whiter, or he/she may suggest veneers. It's better to have a professional cleaning and ask their opinion on what you can do than to rush out and buy whitening products that can cause sensitivity that may not even work, and if they do, they're probably just going to mask the problem for a short time. If you do see a professional and they say you could accept whitening, I know that crest whitestrips worked for me when I was getting married, but I did the ones that took 2 weeks. I had really sensitive teeth when I was done, but I know that if you get the ones that take one week you're going to have VERY sensitive teeth and it's not comfortable at all. Just before christmas, I was able to get a mouth tray that conformed to the shape of my mouth and a whitening paste that had fluoride in it. The paste didn't cause any sensitivity whatsoever to my teeth, and the tray was cut so that the whitening product didn't touch my gums and cause pain (which the crest whitestrips go right over your gums, which make them sore). Of course, I got this mouth tray and whitening paste from my school and it was free for me, but it worked great. Some dental hygiene schools will offer whitening for very cheap compared to dental offices, so that's another option. Good luck to you, I hope you can find something that works!

Whitening stripes on teeth with white spots?

I have calcium deposits on some of my teeth on the bottom of them (not noticeable unless your close) but I want my teeth to be whiter, should I use crest whitening stripes or get them done professionally? or would the spots be REALLY noticeable?
--------------------
This is a very tough question. There are two ways to get rid of the white spots: #1: Bleach the teeth even more As you lighten the remaining tooth structure, the contrast fades. The white spot(s) may appear to fade away. Power bleaching increases permeability of enamel (similar to the way it was when the patient was 14 years old), and will then allow the surrounding tooth structure to get REALLY white. You can't get whiter than WHITE. So the surrouding tooth structure tends to almost catch up in color to the spots. End result is that the spots are still there, but they will blend much better. #2: Microabrasion If the bleaching does not remove the white decalcified spot enough to your expectations, the dentist can use a course diamond and remove the spot mechanically with a strong bevel all the way around the spot. This can be done without any anesthesia. A translucent composite is then placed over it. From http://www.teethwhiteningreviews.com/mes…

I whiten my teeth 2-3 time a day once in morning and night with CVS 5 minute whitening gel and once in a while LiquidSmile Bleaching Pen. Is it bad if you whiten your teeth that much a day and for a long period of time?? If so why??

Is it ok to Gargle with peroxide and brush your teeth with baking soda to whitening them?

My mom said i can use those if i want to whiten my teeth, she does it and her teeth are really white...does anyone know if its bad or not??
--------------------
It is OK to brush your teeth with a bit of baking soda( I recommend only once a day), but there toothpaste that use baking soda, and have that nice minty fresh taste we have become used to. (My favorite is Arm & Hammer toothpaste) I haven't professionally whitened my teeth, I drink wine and coffee, and I am very happy with the results) I DON'T recommend gargling with peroxide unless you have a cut or ulcer that requires short periods of treatment. Peroxide is not recommended for daily use, and it has been proven to cause cancer when used for long periods of time.

teeth whitening for sensitive teeth?

I have really sensitive teeth (and have been using sensitive toothpaste for the past year) but want to get them whitened before college starts in the fall. Does anyone know of any good solutions for how to do it without frying my teeth? And if I got them professionally bleached, how long do those results last for, if I continue to brush and floss regularly?
--------------------
I recommend the professional bleaching. Your dentist will also look at why your teeth are so sensitive. As usual, if you drink too much coffee, sodas, tea and eat too much chocolate or heavily dyed food, your teeth will yellow a lot faster. Cigarettes will make them yellow and tar black, for sure. I recommend a teeth cleaning stick (it's very cheap) for those who are quitting smoking or want to keep their mouth occupied with something besides chewing gum. The sticks are 100% natural and have anti microbial properties. They'll clean your teeth very well.

Will whitening trays damage teeth after continuous use?

Most people bleach their teeth once every six months, but would bleaching teeth more than that cause damage?
--------------------
DAMAGE TO TEETH= UNLIKELY DAMAGE TO GUMS IF THE BLEACHING GEL GETS ON THE GUMS = A POSSIBILITY WILL THIS BE PERMANENT DAMAGE? = NO, JUST IRRITATED. WHAT WILL DO TO THE TEETH THEMSELVES? MAKE THEM MORE SENSITIVE TO COLD. DOING A TOUCH-UP WHITENING IS A NICE IDEA EVERY 6 MONTHS TO KEEP A SMILE LOOKING GREAT.

Professional Teeth Whitening - Dental Trays?

I'm wondering if anyone got a mold of their teeth and gels from their dentist to whiten their teeth. I'm curious how well it worked (I'm looking to achieve movie star white teeth) and how long the results lasted. I'm also wondering how easy/difficult the trays are to use, and the length of time you had them in each day. Finally, what specific gel did you use? Nite White? Bravo? And what strength - 16%, 22%, etc.? *Please respond only if you've had professional whitening done, not over-the-counter agents, like Crest Whitestrips.*
--------------------
I've tried them all, strips, in office bleaching, and always go back to my trays. The others just don't last and I like the fact that I can touch up whenever I feel they need to be done. And yes, they do get you to the movie star white, my shade is at a B 0 if your familiar with the shade guide. I always get complements on my teeth being white. As for the results, it takes a couple of weeks depending on how dark your teeth are to start. Usually it's two weeks of about an hour a day then you just touch up every 3-4 months using the trays one day for 30 min's to an hour if needed after that. I've gone 6-7 months at a time without touching up. Something to consider is that with the in office bleaching you don't get the trays and solution to do this with either. The trays aren't really noticable when you wear them for bleaching. I usually do mine when I'm showering and dressing for work. They are easy to use, comfortable, you hardly notice you have them on. The solution last a long time, I've had my last syringe for nearly 2 years now. If you keep it refridgerated it last a lot longer. And you can always get the solution from your dentist. What could be easier? I'm using the Nite White at 22% right now but have used others at lesser strength at different times. It just depends on what we have at the office as to what I use. They all do a good job, some may cause a little sensitivity. You just use them less time or reduce the percent of solution to reslove that problem. Hope I've given you all the information you need to get you going. You won't be sorry, I've been doing mine for over 15 years now and still love it and recommend it. Good luck!

What is the best or good whitening toothpaste that doesnt damage your teeth?

What is the best or good whitening toothpaste to use twice a day along with listerine mouth wash? one that also may go hand in hand with crest white strips vivid?
--------------------
The typical commercial toothpastes that contain fluoride, etc. are terrible for your health and your teeth. Read the label on the tube where it says keep away from children under 6 years of age. If they eat the toothpaste, they will die. That's why the warning on the label. Does that sound like something you should be using each day? NOT. The mouthwashes are just as bad. They dry out your tissues and only kill a few germs at best. The best thing is to get a toothpaste that does NOT have lauryl sulfate in it or fluoride. Lauryl sulfate is a surfactant that opens the pores in your mouth allowing bacteria to get into your tissues. Fluoride depletes the iodine from your body and creates lots of problems with your thyroid gland. Primitive people did NOT get cavities and had perfect jaw formations and NO PLAQUE build up on their teeth. Amazingly, they died with perfect teeth. Look at the bones dug up of primitive men for your own education about that. Peelu toothpaste is a good one that does not contain the garbage. Then use a primitive process called "Oil pulling" to use in place of those stupid, expensive mouthwashes. Take a Tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for 2 minutes. Then spit it out, don't swallow it. It will contain lots of bacteria, fungus, virus, etc. It will leave your mouth feeling fresh and pleasant, kill most of the germs in your mouth and not cost nearly as much as the mouthwash junk. The plaque build up on the teeth is due to low hydrochloric acid production in your stomach. Avoid all those antacids, etc. Eat good air dried sea salt to allow your body to produce good hydrochloric acid. good luck to you

Teeth whitening product. Anything similar to Simply White Gel?

I used to use Colgate's Simply White brush on gel but it has been discontinued and nothing else works. Not even plain peroxide. I've tried plenty of different toothpastes but even using them for 1 months straight I don't even notice a difference in the color. So what is a similar product, in cost and effectiveness to Simply White? (If you don't know how much that is...well it's around $7 a bottle, so I need something relatively inexpensive.)
--------------------
i like Listerine Whitening mouthwash ..u use it before u brush and its about $6 i use to use Simply WHite too and it worked great if you put it on and went in a tanning bed (sounds stupid but it did ) Another i like is Rembrandt Whiting kit they are a lil more pricey though but good luck

Help with teeth whitening?

My teeth have a tint of yellow in them, im 14 and too young for teeth whitening professionally. Does anyone know a really good whitening toothpaste that actually does work?
--------------------
Whitening toothpastes only work very little over time. Your best bet is to get the paint on gel. Tastes like blah, but works well and only in a matter of weeks, with toothpaste you have to work through multiple tubes of toothpaste before you notice any shade change and toothpaste will only remove one or two shades of color, rather than the gels and trays which will remove multiple layers of stain.

teeth whitening tips?

Are there any good teeth whitening tricks and tips that actually work and are there any reasonably priced products that work. Also can teeth whitening products like i see on tv shop such as whitelight damage my teeth.
--------------------
Hi Mike, Brushing your teeth with baking soda works. The "gritty" texture grinds down the plaque. However, people who have thin enamel report that their teeth become more sensitive after a while. Why? If you keep polishing your teeth, you have to expect a weaker teeth. The same is true with other techniques, such as drinking lemon water. I'm not even mentioning chemicals because you sound conscious about that. I'd say, if your teeth are pretty strong, try baking soda. Also get a tooth cleaning as you start your plan. And, if you're ready for a way alternative technique, consider "oil swishing", a technique whereby you swish coconut or sesame oil between your teeth every morning. (See link for reference.) does the 24 Carat Teeth Whitening System really work?

saw this product off ebay; here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130284211089&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 anyone ever tried it? does it really whiten the teeth or it just another gimmick? thanks
--------------------
I checked on the site and the formulation it's 22% Carbamide Peroxide. Most formulations used by dental clinics for take-home kit vary from 10% to 20%...this one is 22%, possibly with proper use this will whiten your teeth. Just one thing the zero sensitivity claim..not so sure. Teeth becomes very sensitive after whitening which is the usual reaction and there is a special mousse used along with whitening, its not in the kit.
