one that's safe to use and doesn't remove enamel!
--------------------
There are a lot of things you need to consider before jumping into whitening. I jumped before I did the research. I used a recommended Tooth whitening product that worked great for a friend, Crest night effects. And my result was after 3 nights I ended up with MONTHS of pain from sensitive teeth. If you are over 35 do not get into any of these products without talking to a dentist. If you have even slight acid errosion (common in soda and juice drinkers) The whitening product could be just enough to cause horrible teeth sensitivity. If you are young you might not have a problem but then repeated uses may result in worse problems when you do reach that age. After my experience, I stay away from these products without a doctors advice. But if you do decide to use a whitener, be smart and use a Restoring floride rinse before you start to strengthen your teeth.

Teeth whitening tips?
Without professional whitening, what are some things I can do to whiten my teeth a bit? Any suggestions for teeth whitening strips? Or any natural remedies? Thanks!
--------------------
You can brush with bicarbonate of soda and there are tooth powders. Few people have naturally perfectly white teeth any way. Avoid drinking tea or coffee and do not smoke for one hour after using a mouth wash. Those things can cause the teeth to get discolored.

ZOOM teeth whitening- what is the cost? would you recommend it?
i am getting married and want to look best in my photos. i dont have the greatest teeth - i never had braces or anything but i do think whitening would make a big differance. i have tried the strips and gels over the counter and from a dentist but i am looking for something more dramatic! thanks for the help.
--------------------
My dentist charges about 250 for it. A few friends have had it done and have great results. Some have had some sensitivity too, but that's to be expected. Congrats on the wedding!!

teeth whitening after root canal treatment?
is it true that teeth cannot be whitened after a root canal treatment? and that they will stay the same color as they are no matter how much you brush? Also if this is true can anything be done to whiten your teeth after a root canal treatment?
--------------------
After a root canal, it is quite common to have a crown placed on the tooth. Root canalled teeth are quite prone to fracturing. In order to strengthen the tooth, it is a good idea to crown it. So with the crown, you can have it as white as you need it to be.

Best method of whitening my teeth after braces?
I'm getting my braces off soon. Suggestions for whitening? I was going to try white strips, but I heard they destroy the enamel. Oh and please include prices for suggestions you answer with. Thanks!

A very good friend of mine used strawberries mushed up as toothpaste. Her teeth are THE whitest cleanest teeth i have ever seen. Works wonders. Its a bit... Nasty to do, but it works great.

Teeth whitening strips question?
I have some build up on the back of my front teeth and it is in between my front two and a little bit on the front of them. It's yellow and I hate it. I haven't been able to go to the dentist though. Will whitening strips make that white? I know it won't get rid of it but could it do that till I can go to the dentist?
--------------------
If the buildup is indeed plaque, it will be more difficult, but it can help.

Are teeth whitening products safe to use? if so, which ones? Pros and Cons?
I want to whiten my teeth, but am a little skeptical about the products. I heard that teeth whitening strips make your teeth sensitive, which ultimately leads to pain when eating or drinking cold things. Is this true?? Have any of you guys or know of anyone who used whitening products??
--------------------
It's said that they eat away at the healthy protective enamel layer which then exposes the tooth to decay at a higher rate. Also, the more you use them, with the worn out enamel, having a cup of coffee will stain the tooth even more! You have to bleach more and more. But I think doing it once in a while for special occassions is not a bad idea. After a single whitening session it's very unlikely anyone will experience sensitivity! The enamel isn't THAT thin, but with repeated use as many have to do to upkeep the white, there's no doubt the enamel will permanently suffer damages. Also, why do it through a dentist who charges an arm and a leg for the same products sold in stores? I'd do it myself for $50 from an over the counter product than spend a few hundred just to have a dentist do it! Unless you choose to have it done by lazer which is very expensive but again not worth it to do it that way since the results are always temporary (unless you stop eating and drinking lol). The only benefit of lazer is that it will whiten more quickly for someone who has to look good that day or the next day and has procrastinated.

What Teeth Whitening Stuff works the best?
Which one works the best in the least amount of time?
--------------------
I haven't tried a lot of teeth whitening product stuff, but I can tell you that I tried the free sample of Crest Whitestrips and I noticed a difference after 3 or 4 days, but my family noticed a difference within 2 days. I didn't think my teeth were that yellow to begin with :P I have heard of people having sensitive teeth after but I did have that problem. I'd recommend trying them out first in case you are one of those unlucky people who has a sensitivity problem. Just go to the Crest website and look for promotion and it'll lead you through a series of steps or just go to the direct link http://www.freesamplesfromheaven.com/cre Good luck :)

Dangers of this teeth whitening method?
Dipping cotton swabs in bleach and rubbing down my teeth with them? Not touching anything but the teeth, then immediately rinsing my mouth.
--------------------
Extremely dangerous!!!! Do not do this. Household bleach should never get anywhere near your mouth. If you insist on trying to bleach your teeth with something at home, try hydrogen peroxide. but I advice against that as well. Either buy Crest white strips or see a dentist for bleaching teeth. DO NOT PUT HOUSEHOLD BLEACH ON YOUR TEETH OR IN YOUR MOUTH, EVER!!!!!!

I used a teeth whitening gel kit and 6 months later my teeth are still so sensitive, can i sue?
I used a whitening gel kit called 5 minute whitening that i bought from the store. This was 6 months ago, i still cant eat or drink anything thats not room temperature without shooting pains going through my head. Ive used sensodyne, and everything else the dentist told me with nothing helping, im guessing the bleaching took at the enamel off of my teeth. I only used the kit 3 times and it said to use it for 2 weeks so its not like i used it too much. Is there any lawyers out there or anyone that knows if i can sue this company? i read everything on the box and it doesnt say anything like this would happen. any advice would be great. thanks.
--------------------
Hmmm. I think you should call whatever number they have on the back. Tell them what happened, and if you still have problems you should go back to the dentist. Suing would proabably be the last thing you want to do, unless youre loaded.

Question about teeth whitening. Can you help?
I would like to get my teeth whitened, but a couple of years ago my dentist told me it would make my already sensitive (to cold) teeth even more sensitive. Any suggestions?
--------------------
This is true as well as the over the counter ones will as well. The only thing I can suggest is a whitening toothpaste. It will not make your teeth sensitive and will whiten your teeth over time.

Best teeth whitening products?
I am wanting to purchase a teeth whitening product. What is the best for the lowest price?
--------------------
HI, I have always had problems with faint yellow teeth. In fact everyone in my family has this problem. I have tried every product that exists along with frequent visits to dentists. Dentists have always told me that my teeth are good but I was never happy with the color. Using peroxide or baking soda is harmful for teeth in a longer run so I never used it. Trays are always a NO for me because they give lot of irritation and pain. The ONLY thing that has worked for me till date is Dazzle White. I was not sure of using it at the beginning as I did not want to waste more money. Later, after doing some research on the Internet I found out about this company giving free samples. I immediately ordered mine (just paid $1.95 shipping). This is a real good product and has worked for me. I don't work for this company nor am I related to them in any manner. Just trying to help someone who has faced similar problems like me. Thanx BTW the website from where I got my free samples is http://tinyurl.com/freewhiteteeth

Hi, My name is Kathy and I work for Crest. I would recommend using the Crest 3D White Whitestrips Professional Effects. 3D White Whitestrips Professional Effects provides the highest level of whitening available from Crest at retail. It features Advanced Seal technology and has been proven to whiten as effectively as $500 in-office light and laser systems. Also, there will coupons distributed in P&GbrandSAVER which will be going out in most newspapers this Sunday. Visit www.pgeverydaysolutions.com - to find out which newspapers in your area may carry the P&GbrandSAVER insert. Thanks, Kathy

I've bought 2 different home teeth whitening kit and my bottom teeth still refuse to get whiter.?
I've tried Crest whitestrips and Rembrant whitening gel and neither work. My top teeth look great and both kits worked there but my bottom still are really yellow. Is this normal? Is there a disease and condition that I could have to provent this? Help!

First of all, i do not agree with whitening kits. i study dentistry and it's a big mistake that you do this because it sensibileses your enamel, the posibility of cavity apearance grows and also your teeth will be less stronger in a possible traumatism and they will fracture imediatly. If you choose to do this you must know that you must take good care of your teeth, that includes smoking, meds like tetraciclin, stop drinking tea/coke or any drink that contains colorants. Then try using your kit

What are the brands or just the products dentist use for whitening teeth?
I'm having trouble determining which is the best as each dentist advise the one they sell is the best (of course) but I cant search for information on the products without something to each for eg the product or brand

It's all basically the same stuff. It is a percentage of hydrogen peroxide (11%-22%) in some thickeners to help it stay on the teeth. The Target strip is just a clone of Crest... It all works. "Laser" whitening only works faster but won't make your teeth whiter than any of the over the counter products, though you might go through a couple of kits to acheive the same results. Bottom line: nobody's is "better"

Current advice for everyday teeth whitening (as opposed to possibly expensive dental treatment) is a toothpaste with bicarbonate of soda in. Some of the tooth whiteners like Pearl Drops work by eroding the top, stained layer of enamel. Keep this up and you'd soon have no enamel!

Crest vivid white toothpaste. I have been using it for 7 to 8 years. Works great ! You can also use the crest whitening strips. I only use the whitening strips a couple times a year for a touch up. If you still have questions or concerns, contact your dentist and ask for a consult about whitening your teeth. The only way it will cause any problems to your teeth is excessive use.

I went to the dentist to get 1 hour teeth whitening and my gums got burn. What should I do?
They never said that could happen.
--------------------
Well first let me assure that is something that is very normal and I am sorry they did not explain they prior to the procedure. Usually when a patient comes in for a one hour Whitening the concentration of materials is higher...did you have a light over your mouth? was it done in intervals? did the person doing the whitening with you isolate your gums and lips? often times it can be difficult to isolate everything completely to leave the surfaces of the teeth exposed. The burning you feel is from a combination of the light, and the solution used and is totally normal. Your best bet is to avoid flossing, spicy foods, any thing to crunchy (tortilla chips etc), go for things like milk, smoothies etc. If you have any Vitamin E (the kind you can put in your mouth) you can rub it directly on to your gums. It is safe to swallow and good for you. If you can get some I would. It can come it gel capsule form where you just poke a hole and squeeze out the gel onto you finger and rub it lightly on the gum surface, or it can come in liquid form ready for squeezing. Most any longs, Walgreens, etc carry products like this not very expensive and lasts. I would use the Vitamin E for the next two/three days by then the sensation should go away and Ibuprofen can help as well. However if the feeling persists till Friday or longer I would give the office a call and have them do a post-op check.

Yes it does work, but it depends on what type of staining / discoloration of teeth you have, intrinsic vs. extrinsic.
