I'm sure most of you have seen this floating about the internet somewhere. You mix baking soda with water to brush your teeth. Rinse. Mix 2/3 water with 1/3 hydrogen peroxide and rise your mouth out daily with that. I was just wondering if it's true, safe and if anyone has ever used this method for teeth whitening or is it a load of crock?

Does home teeth whitening kits work?
Do they work permanently as in if I keep my teeth clean will they keep white or do I have to constantly do it

Nothing will keep the permanently white, even if you get it done in a dr. office. but i used crest white strips and they worked really well. Aside from the sensitivity they are great. They last about 6 months.

Can you use four whitening strips at once to avoid them only covering some teeth?
I've heard that with crest whitening strips they only cover about six teeth on each row... Can you just use two strips on each row, like two top and two bottom, so that they cover twelve on each row..? Or are they specially designed to fit certain teeth..? Thanks!

You could do that...but they likely would be difficult to keep in. Best tip....smile your widest. That is as far back as you need to whiten. Otherwise no one is going to see your whitened back teeth. You would be wasting good money if it were not needed. If you still want to cover all your teeth then I would suggest that you go to your dentist and have bleaching trays made. They are more costly but they cover every tooth. Plus you have to buy the bleach from the dentist each time you run out.

I'm wondering if anyone got a mold of their teeth and gels from their dentist to whiten their teeth. I'm curious which gel you used, how well it worked (I'm looking to achieve movie star white teeth), and how long the results lasted. *Please respond only if you used custom-made trays and gel from a dentist, not Zoom or over-the-counter whitening agents, like Crest Whitestrips.*

I was working at a dentist office for 5 years and I have used the tray myself. It really works. We were using a gel called Nite White. You had to wear the tray either overnight or for 8 straight hours. You can see the result within a week. It will last for about a year/year and a half depending on the food you take (coke, coffee, smoke, etc make the tooth yellow faster). You can always get a refill kit. The tray is pretty easy to use. It fits tight on your teeth since they take a mold, so you won't have as much saliva problem as with the strips. It ay take you a day or two before you get used to it. What we recommended to our patients was to use the upper tray for 2 nights first to see the difference. The only thing you need to make sure about before using the gel is you don't have any cavities. The gel causes teeth and gum sensitivity and if you have any cavities, it can get painful. One disadvantage to bleaching teeth (either method) is if you havee white fillings, it will not change the color of the fillings. So, if you hav any fillings specially on the front teeth, you may have to replace them with the whiter shade fillings once you are done with the whitening. Hope it helps

I just got my braces off and finally got to whiten my teeth. The only thing you can do with braces is brush your teeth a lot. Also pick a color for your ties that makes your teeth look whiter (something dark but not black). With braces as long as you keep your teeth clean your teeth will look fine. Hope this helps!! ok i got my teeth whitened its this presidure called zoom were they bleach your teeth and then but it under uv lights. anyway my teeth hurt really bad on the surface when i bite it doesnt hurt. but still it feels as if thier being drilled plz give me sum advice.

For the premium and premium plus, they get a little more pricey. Those go in increments of 7-days and 3-days. A word of warning: they make my teeth very very sensitive. It depends on the person, but you might have to use them once a day instead of twice a day, in which case the 14-day pack will actually take you 28 days. Also, stupid moment. A couple nights ago I fell asleep by accident, watching TV while I wore them. I woke up at 2:30 in the morning with the worst tooth pains of my life, and could hardly eat anything at all the next day, regardless of whether it was hot or cold or not. Take care to not leave them on for more than half an hour at a time. If you're careful though, and prepared for them to not work in exactly the time expected, they work amazingly. My teeth are very white and I'm not even finished my pack. The whitening effect lasts about a year, maybe longer if you're careful not to eat foods that stain, such as wine, spaghetti sauce, smoking cigarettes etc.

Will porcelain crowns look natural for my two front teeth?
My two front teeth are dead, because they were hit with a softball. I had two root canals a year ago and now I'm noticing some discoloration. To get them whiter I know I have to get a porcelain crown, and whiten my other teeth. But will the porcelain crown look natural with the other teeth? I'm only 15 and I don't want to have a bad smile for high school, and for it too look fake.

Ask for all ceramic crowns(they may be more expensive) because with the porcelain fused to metal crowns , the metal can show by the gum line in some cases. Crowns will sure look better than discolored natural teeth. We once had a patient who had grey to almost black teeth on her upper 4 front teeth and she was also afraid to put crowns on them before her wedding. The crowns looked better then her own natural teeth and she was so happy she cried when we seated them. Remember that crowns don't last a lifetime and as we get older, our teeth get darker so the crowns eventually in years to come will most likely have to be changed. Best of Luck to you!

Tooth Whitening at the dentist?
I have an appointment to get my teeth whitened at my dentists surgery in a couple of weeks. They have sent me a leaflet on the procedure, and it mentions having to wear the mouth trays every night, overnight, for 14 days. Can anyone who has done this themselves, tell me if they are comfortable! I am a bit worried that I wont get any sleep for two weeks! lol

So right now my teeth arent super white but theyre not bad little off white and i was wondering if i should get them bleached its only about 350 dollars, and the dentist said itd whiten my teeth like 7 shades. But my question is how whiter is 7 shades??? Will i notice a difference??? Discuss

it depends cause sometimes its not gonna be a 100% white just lighter than before, for me its not worth it cause your teeth wont be white forever its gonna fade out in months, when you smoke its no use whitening it
