My grandmother showed me this procedure 20 years ago. After mixing the paste im very careful and only spread on my teeth. I let stand for about 5 minutes then rinse mouth out several times. Like i said! im very careful! U can burn your gums if not careful. anyway, is this something i should stop doing? My teeth are very white and gums seem ok to.Been doing this about every 6 months for last 20 years.

STOP!!!!!!! You will literally kill your teeth. You can keep using the baking soda it is perfectly safe but the bleach is just crazy. One its a toxin and two you will end killing your teeth please stop using the bleach.

Easy way to whiten teeth at home?
Can anyone tell me an efficient way I can use things around the house to whiten my teeth? I just don't want to have to go out and buy strips or anything, and I heard that if u mix baking soda or something it works? Thanks!

I just wanted to know; when I put 2 listerine whitening strips on my teeth (1 for top teeth 1 for bottom teeth), am I supposed to swallow what melts? Because when I leave it there, the wetness of my mouth usually makes it melt and then I'm basically forced to swallow it. Or am I supposed to like keep my mouth dry?

Well I would just try to keep my mouth as dry as possible before putting them on since your spit is what wears the strips down after a while, which is why you take them off since they don't work anymore. But it should be fine to swallow a little.

I want to get my teeth whitened, whats the most effective and long-lasting procedure for in-office dentistry?

I've used Crest White Strips a few times now and they always work great. You might experience a little bit of sensitivity, but for me it wasn't anything to complain about, it's harmless and quickly goes away whereas your teeth remain white for years :)

whitening your teeth, with bleach?
I'm just curious, I obviously know this is a pretty stupid question, and a very bad idea. But really, what are the risks of using actual bleach to whiten your teeth? If you were just to dab it onto a q-tip or something, and made sure nothing touched your tongue/gums etc. I'm sure it would work grrreat! if it didnt kill you before you got to see the results :P thanks -Jenn

Well over looking the obvious fact that bleach can kill you, drip some on some clothing and watch it eat through the cloth, no imagin it touching your gums/ lips/tongue, the same effect would happen...it would eat through your tissues, and there really is no way to prevent it from touching those areas, even using a q-tip, cause if you close you mouth your lips will touch it....peroxide does work, but you have to dilute it, not swallow it, and make sure you don't let it touch to many tissues, as well...the best way to whiten is to see your dentist and see what they have to offer. or what they can suggest to you that would work best for yoyr teeth

Then, rinse your toothbrush well and store it upright. Get a large piece of dental floss and floss in between your teeth. Don't be too forceful or you could make your gums bleed, Move the floss in a C shape around each tooth. Never floss before you brush your teeth. Scientific study shows that brushing your teeth before you floss reduces the amount of bacteria that is pushed into the gums while flossing. Rinse your mouth with some good mouthwash, preferably an antiseptic mouthwash like Listerine. Gargle the mouthwash before you spit it out for about 30 seconds and you will have clean teeth and fresh breath!
