I've heard that strips don't always work the best because they burn or make your teeth sensitive. I need something I can buy at Target or Wallmart for a decent amount of money. Please don't tell me not to whiten them because its bad for your teeth. I'm going to do it anyway so I need one that is dentist approved and effective. Thanks! :)

Now, instead of just one yellow corn tooth in that person's mouth they have to show a whole freaking mouth full of Appalachian Hillbilly teeth! Why??

What are the most successful teeth whitening strips at a good price?
good price with the best results :D

Personally, I like "Liquid Smile". It's a gel pen that you paint on your teeth. Sometimes you can find them online for around $20 dollars, but they usually don't carry them in stores because they used to be exclusively available at dentist offices. If you decide that you still want a strip... go with Crest. They have $7 off coupons available in the newspapers and stuff... I wouldn't pay full price. Either one will work fine! Good luck!

Am I better off going to the dentist or getting a kit to do teeth whitening at home?
My 3-year old daughter was playing eye spy when the color yellow came up. She said "daddy's teeth!" Kids tell it like it is. I want to get some sort of teeth whitener, but I'm not sure if buying a DIY kit will really help much or if I should just go to the dentist.
--------------------
i should apologize for lol about your daughters honesty. That's funny! anyway, your dentist would do a fine job with your teeth, but i've tried that before and it's really expensive (and you have to pay every time you go of course). i think the best thing for you to do is try doing it yourself at home first. i've been very happy with how well the teeth whitener i've used has work...your mileage may vary, but it's definitely worth a shot. if it doesn't do the job well enough, then go to the dentist. i think you'll find the tooth bleaching kits you can use at home will do a great job and are a whole lot more convenient than going to the dentist...plus, i've found that teh heavy duty stuff the dentist used made my teeth really sensitive and i didn't have that problem at home. seriously, just try doing it yourself first. There are alot of good products out there.

i don't want to do the nightly strips, i want a 1-time deal... and prices if you have them too please! thanks y'all!

Lucy, disagree all you want but not all of us are lucky enough to have enamel that keeps our teeth white even if we take care of them. I've used Rembrant's 2 hour whitening kit and it worked pretty good but the results didn't last too long. However, I used the two week Aquafresh kit (with the trays that you only have to wear for 15-30 mins a day) and got great results for awhile.

Anyone ever try that teeth whitening gel you put on before you enter a tanning bed?
And, if so, does it work? I've seen it before on the counter and always wondered if anyone used it and saw a difference. I think its about $50...which isn't cheap. Just curious. Thanks.
--------------------
Don't get it. White Strips do just the trick, and you don't have to be tanning to use it! I swear by White Strips and couldn't be happier with my smile. I mean, how would those work anyway? You have to be smiling in the tanning bed for them to get the UV rays anyway? I would say to save your money, and sleep in White Strips, it really works! Stay fashionable! ;)

Do those teeth whitening strips work?
I heard that they're bad for your teeth... Is that true?
--------------------
I think I heard that with over use, they can damage the enamel on your teeth. They do work..and work really well. My teeth were at least 5 shades whiter. Some people experience sensitivity to cold and hot when using the strips. You can use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth (Sensodine) 2 weeks before you plan on using the strips, and you won't have that problem. If you don't use it, and find your teeth and/or gums become sensitive, then you should only use the strips once a day, instead of twice. Also, never use the strips back to back (2 strips in 30 minutes)...or leave on longer than the directed time.

If you can't afford to go get one of those kits at Wal-mart then I have found if you mix baking soda and peroxide and brush it on like toothpaste. It tastes HORRIBLE, but really works...and if you notice your gums turning white right after, don't worry. It is just the peroxide killing the germs (same as if you poured it on an open wound). Just keep rinsing and it will go away.

What is the best teeth whitening product on the market?
Tried Crest white strips and i could barely see any results...
--------------------
Crest WhiteStrips are the most effective over-the-counter product. The strip holds the agent on the tooth better that the paint on gels. In office, the best results I have seen are with Zoom, although I have seen some cases that turned out unnaturally white. It's possible that the WhiteStrips had a minimal effect because your teeth are already as white as they can be naturally. Try to avoid going too white; you teeth end up looking like Chiclets. It also depends on your skin color. If you are vary fair, then bright white isn't quite as unnatural looking. For those of us with darker complexions, the ultra-white teeth can look silly. Visit a dentist for a consultation, but my inclination would be that if the WhiteStrips were used properly and had no effect you might not need whitening. In office treatments also tend to cause more sensitivity because they use stronger agents. If you have it done, make sure they make you fluoride trays.

Personal experiences with teeth whitening and different methods..?
I will probably be getting my teeth whitened soon but I know there is different methods and therefore prices.. The one I will probably get is I think a light system one, costs $100 If you could mention the different methods, which ones are best, and people with personal experiences with teeth whitening - was it worth it??
--------------------
Good old fashioned peroxide is the best whitening agent in my opinion. You should try it before anything else because it's safe and at about a dollar per bottle, it is FAR less expensive than any other method. You could get some and swish with it after every time you brush your teeth WHILE saving up to purchase another tooth whitening method and realize that is truly works and is inexpensive. Can't hurt.

Is it safe to brush my teeth like 4 or 5 times a day with whitening toothpaste?
And would doing that whiten my teeth?
--------------------
NO! You have enamel on your teeth and your tooth enamel is relatively thin and you can begin to wear away the enamel and make the teeth sensitive.

Actually, my teeth are really white, I receive compliments all the time, but it's not from a professional whitening job. I use hydrogen peroxide as a rinse when brushing my teeth. I know it sounds weird, but it works wonders, and is extremely inexpensive. I noticed results in weeks. Halfway through brushing, I'll rinse with a capful of hydrogen peroxide plus a capful of water, then continue brushing. I do this twice a day, morning and night. Night is the most important though, because you're brushing away plaque that could possibly stain your teeth. In the morning, hydrogen peroxide is helpful because it doubles as a cure for bad breath. I know it sounds weird, but you should try it before you spend money on teeth whitening. Just a suggestion.

Teeth whitening done by a professional?
Does it hurt to have your teeth professional whitened? I have extremely sensitive teeth. I have to go back to the dentist because when I had my braces, my teeth weren't taken care of like they should've been and I believe I may have a couple cavities now. Will they get rid of those before bleaching my teeth?
--------------------
Sorry but don't listen to anyone that tells you not go see a dentist. If you have cavities or old fillings, you should consider bleaching your teeth first then have those cavities filled. If you have tooth color fillings, those fillings will not be bleach and they will need to be replaced to match to your new tooth color. You should always get professional advise before bleaching your teeth. Also, if your have sensitive teeth you need a dentist to properly prescribe the correct bleaching concentration and bleaching agent.

Ellen the Mom, secret to affordable teeth whitening - has it worked for you?
I am tempted to look further - but is this yet another scam?
--------------------
HI, I also read about the mom secret solution, Does it really works? it might work but you have to be careful because there are scams. If you have yellow stains on your teeth i would try one of the free samples online see if that works before buying anything (if your stains are darker then it won't be so easy to get them whiter. I suggest you read a little more about teeth whitening and then decide on the best product for you. Try the site at the source it has a lot of great information Good luck

Crest Night Effects... I think it was under $20. I've tried other whitening systems, but I liked this one. They all work just fine, you need to find one that fits into your routine. Also, you need to cut back on coffee, tea, sodas that stain your teeth. If you do drink these items, try to brush your teeth following so the stains don't settle in. Also, a really cheap, yummy, and natural way to whiten you teeth is to eat STRAWBERRIES. They are a natural teeth whitener!

Does anyone know how teeth whitening kits work?
Like the home whitening ones.

Apparently there are levels of a special peroxide in the strips and gels you apply to your teeth. What this does it create a reaction on your tooth surface which, in time, removes any staining and discolouration. Different products have different levels and strengths of this peroxide. Be careful if you are going to use them as you may have tooth sensitivity. I have it very bad and have to use Sensodyne or Crest for Sensitive Teeth when I want to use the strips or gels. Also, don't use them too often as they say it can erode your tooth enamel, which can make your teeth appear a little transparent. GoWhite doesn't use the same harsh perioxide others use, so it may not be as effective initially and also does not cause sensitivity in those who are sensitivie. I have not yet tried it, but I know you can get it at Sephora - for a hefty price! There is also laser whitening that can be done in an hour or so under a blue light. This also whitens, but is very expensive and requires you to a dentist's office. You do walk out with bright white teeth though! Might be a good option if you are getting married or want a quick fix for some important photos or event. Hope that helps.

Question about teeth whitening using trays?
So invisalign braces has like trays fit just for you, which is perfect for putting whitening bleach gel into, but they have little grooves for the grooves that were put onto every tooth, just like normal braces. If i were to put gel in there, would some or a lot of the gel run into the grooves and not onto my teeth? Sorta weird question but yeahhh just wondering if it will get all parts of my teeth.

I wouldn't because then you might have an outline of where your braces were when you take them off. Just wait the five days and then use it :]

Teeth whitening gel and permanent retainer?
I am using the Opalescence 20% trays. I accidentally used too much gel and it got on my permanent retainer. I am worried that it may dissolve or harm the glue and the wire. Is this true and should I be concerned? Thanks!
--------------------
No, you shouldn't be concerned. If it can dissolve the cement used on your permanent retainers and the metal of your retainers, then your teeth would be severely damaged. Since your teeth are fine, then everything will be okay. :) Don't worry, your permanent retainers should be fine. Next time, just place enough whitening gel on the trays. These products are inteneded for home use, and should be safe. Just follow instructions included with the whitening product.
