i recently went to the dentist and i just said can you polish my teeth because i am contuse that they are yellow(even tho i brush them twice a day)and he said he couldn't get them any whiter than how they are now, because i have naturally yellow teeth! and he said if i wanted white teeth i could get them whitened for £280.. which i don't really want to pay!is thair anything i could do i.e buying a product or something to make them white myself?
--------------------
i got my braces off in the last month. i wanted to whiten my teeth because i had them on for 4 and a half years. i used crest whitestrips supreme and it worked great. its a little expensive, but it lasts and actually whitens your teeth. you only have to wear them for 5 minutes a day. you can also brush with baking soda on top of that, but just baking soda wont show any progress.

teeth whitening question...?

im trying to whiten my teeth so i went to walmart and got the Aquafresh whtie trays..ive used them all and still think that my teeth can get whiter..would it be bad if i bought another box and used them now or should i wait until a little bit?? or is there a better whiten kit that i should try?
--------------------
Teeth whitening is commonly accomplished by applying a bleaching agent to the teeth. The longer the bleaching agent is applied the better it works. Or at least this is how every teeth whitening system is marketed. The problem is that you really need to use a system that mimics what you would get at a Dentists office but in a more affordable at home do it yourself kit. You see whitening toothpastes only contain minimal whitening agents and so for the few minutes alone in brushing your teeth it would take an extremely long time to produce any noticeable change. Whitening "strips" while more effective then toothpaste again only contain mild oxidization activators within the "strip" so here again the results tend to take longer and not as long lasting. You really need to find a system that is similar to the ones that dentists use, but in a more affordable solution. These tend to work much more effectively and doesn't cost you hundreds of dollars like a trip to the dentist would. While there are many great brands out there that follow this "dentists system" but the home teeth whitening system I like is

Professional Tooth Whitening Success   Affordable Teeth Whitening Services Two major types of tooth whitening techniques were discussed in the article. Your teeth can be whitened in many different ways by a dentist. They are grouped into external techniques and internal techniques. In external techniques, as the name implies, involves placing the whitening gel on the outer surface of your teeth. However, this method do not work for some types of staining like those caused by metal fillings or condemned blood vessels inside the teeth. External whitening can be done in two ways, namely home tooth whitening and Laser (power) tooth whitening. In home tooth whitening, your dentist designs a rubber mouth guards precisely for your teeth. Then you will be given tubes of tooth whitening gel. Your dentist will give you detail instructions on how to apply the gel in the mouth guards.  Teeth Whiten Tips In laser or power tooth whitening, your dentist will insert a rubber seal around your teeth in other to protect your gum. Hence, the tooth whitening gel is applied to your teeth such that the gel paints your teeth. A special type of bright light is directed to your teeth. The role of the light is to speed up the whitening processes. It can take up to one to two hours for good result. Internal tooth whitening involves the placing of the tooth whitening gel inside the tooth. This procedure is strictly for teeth that has been root treated successfully So in internal tooth whitening, the dentist drills a hole in the tooth and put the tooth whitening gel inside the hole. For front tooth, the hole is normally made at the back of the tooth where it is not easily seen. Then he will seal the hole with temporary filings, while he leaves the gel inside the tooth. This process does not hurt because there is no nerve inside the tooth. Then in a week later you will need to go back to the dentist to remove the temporary filling and tooth whitening gel. Now, if the new shade of your teeth is ok with you, your dentist will use a tooth colored filling to fill the hole. In some cases you might ask your dentist to repeat the procedure if you are not satisfied with the new color shade. Some times internal tooth whitening might require other types of whitening techniques to get your desired effect. Teeth Whitening Anyone?!?

HOW old do you have to be 2 get your teeth whitened?!?
--------------------
Tooth whitening is not generally recommended for kids/teens. The reason for this is that the pulp chambers (the place where the living nerve of the teeth are) are very large and therefore the teeth can become very sensitive. Usually I recommend that you wait until your later teen years. A whitening toothpaste will help keep stains away but the best choice is to go for regular dental cleanings and stay away from dark drinks like cola, tea, coffee etc. If you are going to do it I would recommend using the strips every other day right after a dental cleaning. If the teeth have buildup (stain, tartar) on them the strips won't work that well. Hope that helps! JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

teeth whitening after care help !?

alright i got my teeth whitened in lower manhattan today and they are like sooooooooooo white i was really suprised i love it now they gave me a card of things to eat and what not to eat but i left the card on the train ... does anyone know a list of foods that i can and cannot have ! thanks
--------------------
For the first couple of days you should avoid tomato sauce, drinking red wine, If you must drink tea or coffee drink it through a straw same for dark soda's. The best kind of liquids are clear. Try not to smoke for a couple days if you are a smoker and can hold off. Basically think of foods or drinks that stain your tongue or lips when you eat and stay away from those. Avoid candy and gum chewing for a couple days as well.To maintain your color your should always brush your teeth after you eat. Drinking dark liquids through a straw even though it may look silly really helps. Don't be upset if in a day or two your teeth aren't as bright it happens to people sometimes. If your lucky they may even be whiter tomorrow that also happens to people. Congrats on your new smile!

What's the best product for whitening your teeth?

If anyone has used any products that have made a huge difference please let me know! a.k.a. the strips, toothpaste, swish etc.
--------------------
Overall I would say that most of my patient's have had some measure of success with the Crest Whitestrips, some more than others. My Mother in Law's teeth look fabulous! Our office uses Crest Supreme which are much stronger than what you can buy in a drugstore and don't cost that much more ($60.00). You can purchase the drugstore version, but do yourself of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar or plaque) will impede their ability to work. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). The strips are probably your best low price alternative, much less than in office whitening or custom trays (about $500.00). Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth. Also, whatever method you use it will not whiten your teeth for life, as you age your teeth will get darker and may need to be whitened again. Good luck! JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

Why is my ortho not doing anything? cheap, teeth whitening remedies?

I've got messed up teeth. I've had braces since May 09. My teeth by my two front teeth do not have adult teeth, period. I got the babies removed. I got fake hooked onto m wire onto a bracket, but not permanently on my gums. That was in October. I got a bottom chain. Then, I got that taken off in December and so far I've just been getting bands changed, not even the wire, or tightenings. Why are they doing this and when will I get my permanent fake teeth in my gums? They told me I only have to wear my braces for 2 and a half years. I will get rubber bands. Does anyone know any whitening remedies and why one shouldn't use whitening strips with braces? Thanks.
--------------------
If you use whitening strips with your braces on, you will just whiten your teeth around the braces and the tooth under the brackets will not be whitened. That is just common sense. You should not try to whiten you teeth at all while in braces, You will just mess up your teeth even more.

A couple of questions about teeth whitening?

I thought maybe the lovely people in the beauty section might want to help me :) My teeth are kind of discolored. I had braces, and since then they haven't been the pearly white that I wish they would be. They're not super gross though, just off white. I know it is a stain, because when I brush it doesn't go away. I am thinking about teeth whitening just because it would make me feel better about myself. I'm not sure if I want to do it at the dentist, or do it with the at home stuff. I know there are a few different kinds of at home whiteners as well. Has anyone used them? Do you like the results? Is it worth the money? Also, has anyone got it done at the dentist? Painful? I've heard it is pretty painful afterwords, that your teeth get really sensitive. If anyone has any information about this, that would be great! Thanks so much!
--------------------
Be careful, as these whiteners can wear off the tooth enamel. I use a whitening toothpaste: Arm and Hammer whitening (with baking soda) or Pearl Drops (which has a much more pleasant taste), these both work well. I used strips, but they made me very sensitive. I also have heard of Celebrity Smile, it is rather expensive, but supposed to whiten your teeth up to 8 shades. Overall, I would suggest consulting your dentist. They are all about the health of your teeth and I'm sure would have a safe and smart choice for you.

Teeth whitening? Baking soda?

I need to now if when i brush my teeth, and i put baking soda on my toothpaste, will it really whiten my teeth? and if it does work, when they mean baking soda do they just mean the powder? or do i have to mix it with something? Also, is there any other ways to whiten teeth?
--------------------
baking soda should make your teeth whiter by removing stains. yes, they mean the powder that comes in an orange box. it would be a good idea to mix it with your toothpaste because without the fluoride in toothpaste, your not really protecting or cleaning your teeth if you just brush with baking soda. by the way, do not use baking soda too often, maybe twice a week because its not good for your gum. plus, did you know theres toothpaste with baking soda in them at the store? like Arm & Hammer...but honestly I don't think they work at least for me but I've heard they work for other people so maybe you can give that a try? Then theres crest whitening strips...I know those works. be careful when you whiten your teeth! too much can make your teeth sensitive!

Does anyone know any EFFECTIVE teeth whitening recipes and/or tanning recipes?

My teeth are stained rather badly, yellowish. *shudders* I'm not yet 16, so i probably won't be able to do laser whitening. So, like i asked, does anyone know any effective teeth whitening recipes and/or tanning recipes?
--------------------
Unless you go for professional whitening you can try the over-the-counter products or mix a little bicarbonate of soda with your toothpaste, which is the same as what is in most whitening toothpastes. This can gradually lighten the shade of your teeth. Don't use it more than 2-3 times a week as it can make your enamel thin and more succeptible to staining. Other causes of staining are smoking, red wine, spicy food (curry etc.), so try and avoid these or do them in moderation if you are concerned. Some people have naturally more yellow teeth, this generally means that you have strong teeth, but I understand it bothers you, as it does me. I have found Piz Buin self tanning is very good, it comes in a variety of shades depending on what you want. Also there are good products out these days which are creams containing self-tanning agents which will gradually build up a more natural tan, but make sure to wash your hands as soon as you have applied it as it will make your hands go orange if you don't. I hope this helps.

teeth whitening while pregnant?

Do you think it is okay to use crest white strips while pregnant? I looked at the warning label, and it didn't say anything, but i've been using them for a few days now, and was just wondering if you think that its okay?
--------------------
There has not been sufficient testing done on the effects of using a whitening gel while pregnant. Until such studies have been done on a large scale, it might be best to err on the side of caution. Manufacturers of teeth whitening products and teeth bleaching products generally recommend against using them during pregnancy for liability reasons. There are some newer technologies that use lasers to whiten teeth, and these may be safer than a chemical gel. You should consult both your physician and your dentist before having any such procedure if you are pregnant. There are several issues to be aware of regarding oral hygiene and pregnancy. while you are pregnant your body experiences many hormonal fluctuations. The changing levels of hormones in your body can affect your oral health as well as many other areas of health. Specifically, these changing hormones make your gums more sensitive to plaque. If you become pregnant while you already have gum disease, pregnancy can intensify it. While you are pregnant, it is especially important to practice good oral hygiene. Increased blood flow through the body will often make the gums swell. This also increases your vulnerability to gum disease. Additionally, during pregnancy most pregnant women have some bleeding of their gums, particularly while brushing or flossing. You may also notice that your mouth produces more saliva during pregnancy. When you visit your dentist you should inform her if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Dental x-rays may not be safe during pregnancy, and knowing you are trying to become pregnant can help in planning x-ray treatments. There are several steps you should follow while you are pregnant to insure good oral hygiene. Brush thoroughly at least twice a day, preferably in the morning and before bed. If possible, brush after every meal for at least five minutes at a time. If you vomit, you should brush afterwords to clean your teeth and mouth. Use a good quality, soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste containing fluoride. If you have a lot of sensitivity, try using toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth. If you experience pain after brushing, use ice to sooth the pain and reduce swelling. You should schedule a dental appointment immediately if: Your gums bleed a lot or are painful, you experience breath that doesn't go away, you lose a tooth or have pain in a tooth, or if you have a lump or growth in your mouth. Decaying teeth and gum disease can lead to an infection which may complicate pregnancy. Oh yeah, and congratulations =)

Teeth whitening at home?

I get my braces off on wednesday (soo excited!) and im getting them bleached from the dentist but not until friday. I know people will ask me to see my teeth when i get them off wednesday and thursday night, and i want them whiter right when people see me. so is there any at home things i can do to make them whiter within hours? i know crest white strips work over time but if i kept them in longer would that work? or any trays?
--------------------
i know theres things at stores you can buy that you would like wear for 2 hours and they might make them a little whiter. also anything with baking soda i know makes them whiter but not right away but once you get your braces off they'll probably be pretty white cause the ortho polishes them and does all this other stuff to them.

Don't worry about it and be confident. Be greatfull you look after your teeth, and they aren't very yellow or brown (cavities) like the homeless. I once tried sugar cubes and I HATE sweets. But after a few weeks it did work. Try it :D

What's the most that you have paid or will pay to get your teeth whitened?

For instance, would you pay anywhere from $99-$200 to get your teeth whitened in 15 minutes? Would that be too much? I'm thinking of opening this kind of business.
--------------------
i have done tis kind of whitening. the zoom whitening. i didnt like it as much as i like doing the bleaching trays. i work in a dental office, and when patients ask what i prefer, i tell them the same. i dont think it works as well as the trays, and it makes your teeth very sensitive. but i think alot of people would do it, since in california the zoom traetment costs about $400. it sounds super cheap. i personally don't have to pay to whiten my teeth (thank god). or else i probably wouldent do it. i get it done free at my job. do you currently work in dental? i didnt know that you could have a tooth whitening buisness. do you need to have a dentist supervising?

HELP! whats the best home teeth whitening kit? & where can i buy it?

any ideas?
--------------------
Here are many ways that you can whitening your teeth! For home remedies. Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to form toothpaste. Brush the teeth regularly with this paste. It will remove all stains in a month. Use bicarbonate of soda 5 minutes before brushing the teeth with normal toothpaste in the morning. This is a good home remedy for teeth whitening. Rubbing the bark of walnut tree on the teeth helps in removing all stains from the teeth. Strawberries are considered natural teeth whiteners. Rubbing the teeth with strawberries daily will remove all the stains. If you would like a suggestion on tooth whitening gel, here's something for you! Crest Night Effects Whitening Gel (about $18.00) allows you to remove stains while you sleep. The tooth whitening system has a fresh, wintergreen flavor. After fourteen days of sleeping with this product on your teeth, you will wake up to a vibrant smile. You should see results in two days, although there are reports of tooth whitening results in one night More on http://www.myinformationz.info/teethwhit…
