Today I got whitening gell from my dentist... I'm using a clear retainer for the treatments. After I put the trays in, my gums started stinging in certain areas. Then I noticed a small white spot on one section of my gums. When the stinging stopped, I put the trays back in but the white never went away. Is this permanent? Or is it just like burning your tounge and will heal soon?

It will go away soon. The whitening gel got on your gums (ouch) and bleached them. It doesn't last more than a couple of hours (if that) but be sure that when you apply the gel in the tray next time, you don't put too much because when you press it against your teeth some gel tends to spill out therefore getting onto your gums.

How do I whiten inside my teeth?
I realized that after whitening my teeth, that the inside layer bone was not white instead of the outside layer shade. From what I heard, if you dont brush your teeth as a kid, your will have yellow teeth when you get older. And that's not from failing to brush, but from the layer over covering the yellow part of the bone. So How do I whiten the inside bone layer of my teeth?

Besides, if you are looking at your teeth and seeing bone, then you need to go to the dentist ASAP and get that fixed. You are not suppose to see bone inside your teeth! Teeth aren't just "white." How can do you whiten bonded teeth?

But often it will be throughout the filling material and the only way to correct this is to replace the filling. And you are right that any whitening system will not lighten the composite fillings. GImmics like Baking Soda or all those whitening tooth pastes that cost double and all they add is baking soda (some kind of abrasive ingredients) dont work. It does for some people who have early coffee stains (hasnt seeped into the pore too far). It seems like you can try hydrogen pyroxide in a bottle (at your local pharmacy over the counter). It has 3% and make sure u dont swallow...it will eventualyl whiten your teeth but will take long since it isnt kept on your teeth for long and it is exposed to water... The most effective, but most expensive (for some strange reason) is a higher dose of hydrogen pyroxide that is only given by perscription by a dentist specifically for whitening...but the real cost comes from them making these molds of your teeth (trays) so you can put the gel like hydrogen pyr. in them to sit on your teeth for several minutes. Why trays cost $300-$400 is total scam since one can make it at home for $10 max....i guess everyone wants to make money. After you whiten your teeth You might want to cut back on those staining agents too..such as coffee, or even certain fruits that have citric acid (if i recall)...I believe there is a thing called tannens (sp?) in fruits/veg that promote staning too but we need to eat them to stay healthy so its a catch-22. The best you can do is to make sure you brush your teeth after dowsing your teeth with those staining agents...

I am going to assume you mean a HOME remedy, and not a HOE remedy :) Try mixing baking soda with some hydrogen peroxide, it will bubble some and then brush your teeth with it. It won't be store-brand effective, but it works! Don't swallow!

Anyways, i have really yellow teeth from smoking, and i was wondering if there is actually a whitening system out there that is somewhat cheap that will remove these yellow stains on my bonded teeth and the rest?

Teeth whitening help?
I got my braces off on september 14 2009...My Orthodontist gave me a bleaching kit 2 use but ive herd that bleaching your teeth isn't good. I only used my kit 2 days after i got my braces off then i quit because i didn't have any time 2 do it...If i use it just a few days from 2day do you think it would hurt my teeth....BTW i felt no sensitivity when i did it back i september

Teeth whitening, have you done it?
Has anyone paid professionally to get this done? Did you see a remarkable difference? Was it worth the money? How many shades whiter do you think you got your teeth and last but not least did it make your teeth sensitive and for how long? I am looking into doing this but wanted to ask some questions first. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I had "Zoom" whitening and it ruined my gums..they were black for 3 weeks and now some of my gum tissue is missing! It was a huge difference the first day, but after a few days they seemed to look like they did before the procedure, but they are actually whiter...but at a cost of $500 and future gum surgery...and it HURTS LIKE HELL. Please do your research before you do this, it is generally safe, but anything with gel and a light.....stay away!

I'm not talking about hollywood type white teeth which you could spot from a mile away. But just generally white teeth. Whats the best way to naturally do it? I don't want to get any professional treatments, just want to know if there are any fruits I should eat (I've heard apples are good to whiten teeth) and how much I should brush my teeth, stuff like that.
