The dentist keeps scheduling me appointments- a couple weeks ago i had a root canal, i have a couple teeth with small cavities that need to be filled still. The first time i had a cleaning done. Now he keeps making appointments 2 weeks apart and every other week i get something else done, i want my teeth whiteneneed! Will he do them if i ask for it even though some work still needs to be done?
--------------------
No. Before you have any bleaching done, it is best to have all your teeth healthy and sound. The problem being, if you have tiny cavities, or any cavities in your front teeth, the hydrogen peroxide solution can badly damage your teeth. Usually I recommend cleaning before teeth whitening because it removes all the stains and plaque, giving a clean tooth surface to whiten. You will get better results. The Dentist is a doctor and he will have to treat your infected teeth, decayed teeth before doing any cosmetic procedure. It would be highly unethical if he just did the bleaching without cleaning your teeth (even if you really needed it) or restoring your cavities. If you find a Dentist who just wants easy money, then he will do the bleaching immediately without even examining the condition of your teeth and gums. Will a plastic surgeon place breast implants on a woman just because she asked, even if he found a huge lump in one of her breasts? No.

What is the best whitening toothpaste available on the shelves?
i can't afford dentist whitening. and i'm only 13. help? i have very low confidence and thats because of my yellow teeth what is the best whitening toothpaste that you have used and did it work, what brand and how much did it cost? i've heard of colgate sensitive whitening toothpaste does it work? HELP!!
--------------------
All toothpastes that say whitening on them will only work if you have stains on your teeth, like coffee or tobacco stains. The reason is that the whitening toothpastes have more grit in them so it polishes off the stain and thus your teeth appear white. It does not have any "bleach" in them. This is what is misleading about whitening toothpastes. Your issue is yellow teeth, which is not a stain, it is the natural color of your teeth. Your best bet is to try the Crest whitestrips, they have a form of peroxide in it that will actually bleach out the yellow. The cost is about $30 in the store for a 2 week supply, I know you are a tad young at 13, but this will help your self esteem if you have a great smile! Good luck!

How can you make clear-ish looking teeth go back to white without any dentists work?
My teeth look clear and I'm getting my braces off. I have been told that baking soda helps whiten your teeth. Is there a way to whiten your teeth without any dentist's work. Is there something I could do at home to whiten them?
--------------------
There are several ways to get your teeth whitened. One of the cheaper ones i found out that work is by using teeth whitening pens, they're cheap and work right away. I know about one that works quite well called Dazzle Smile Pro, i leave you a review link so you can check it out.

Anyone know some good toothpaste that helps whiten teeth quickly?
How much does it cost to get my teeth whitened?
by a professional
--------------------
professional whitening can cost anywhere from $700 to $1500 (CDN) per session...depends on the dentist.. you could just brush your teeth with baking soda once a week... or brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once, flossing regularly whitens your teeth pretty quickly. Most people can notice a difference in a week or two.

Do you get Zoom Whitening before you get cavities filled??
The receptionist at my dentist office told me I need to whiten my teeth (which I want) before I get cavities filled. I have heard Zoom Whitening makes your teeth sensitive, however, she said get them whitened first so when they do the fillings, they are the correct color of my new white teeth. Any one have to do this?? Any experiences shared would be real helpful!
--------------------
Yes, you do need to have the Zoom first before the fillings. The reason is this: if you are getting tooth colored fillings, they tooth colored fillings will be matched to the tooth with the cavity. Doing this PRIOR to the Zoom treatment will make the filling stick out like a sore thumb, because the FILLING will NOT get whiter with the Zoom treatment. It stays the same color no matter how much whitener is placed on there. So, if you get this done AFTER the Zoom treatment, the tooth colored filling can be matched to your new tooth color. Yes, Zoom (or any other tooth whitening system) can make teeth sensitive for a short time. This can be exacerbated by having cavities. But all of this is temporary. Once you get the Zoom treatment done and the cavities filled, the sensitivity should go away. I hope this helps.

How effective is whitening gum?
I always felt that chewing gum in the back of your mouth would never help to whiten the teeth in the front of your mouth.

You are right . Whitening gum is a gimmick. Save your money for more effective ways.

Does Colgate whitening toothpastes work?
The one I have, claims too whiten your teeth in 14 days. Do you think it will be able to do that?
--------------------
Whitening toothpastes may remove some surface stains, but don't expect WOW results. You need something that will remain in contact with your teeth longer than toothpaste. Whitening strips are a good way to start. They are cheaper than professional whitening and only cover the front 6 teeth, but they will give you some results. The best whitening is done with your dentist, either in the office or with a take home kit with custom trays.

What's something good to us to whiten your teeth without going to the dentist?
What have you had good results with?
--------------------
To start with the best and easiest way is to see your dentist for a cleaning. They can remove the stains caused from the coffee, tea and smoking. Then the rest is up to your home care in keeping the stains off. Once you get the stains removed, it will be a lot easier to keep them off! Using a soft toothbrush and whitening toothpaste can do wonders alone, but sometimes you need a little extra help. The only thing I've seen used over the counter that gives lasting and excellent results is the Rembrandt Toothpaste. Especially if you start using it after a cleaning. It is good at removing the tough stains and helping to keep them off. It's not as abrasive as most of the others on the market. As for the strips, they will give you the white, but they are only temporary. I've had people who have used them and in 2 weeks, right back to original shade. In one case the patient had bleached with them just before we did a crown. During the time it took for the crown to be made at the lab, her teeth had darkened back to her normal shade. She then opted to have us do her bleaching before we put her permanent crown on. If you want the hollywood white, then talk to the dentist about home bleaching. He/she will suggest two different methods that are known to work well. One is bleaching trays that are custom made from impressions taken of your teeth. These work with a solution the dentist provides for you. The other is the in house, or one hour bleaching method that the doctor or his assistant preforms at the office. The custom trays ususally takes a few minutes to a couple of hours a day for about two weeks to reach your desired results. Most patients I've found love this type of whitening. It allows them the freedom to judge when they need to "touch up" by bleaching whenever they feel their teeth have gotten stained from time, coffee, tea, wines and other things. It also allows them to touch up again months, or years down the road. The average cost of this is around $200-400. It's the method of bleaching I've used for over 15 years now, and I highly recommend this one. Then there is the one hour system that the dentist does in his office, it's quiet expensive though, somewhere around the $600-$700 area. Some dentist don't use it or recomend it due to the sensitivity it causes. It's bleaching usually last for a couple of years and requires touch up with bleaching pens and mouthwashes which are expensive too. This gives you the instant white but the results aren't lasting. So, it's really up to you and how much you want to spend to get those "pearly" whites. I would check around on the prices in your area. But the key question is, are you willing to maintain it, with regular appointments with your dentist and diligent home care? Talk to your dentist, they can answer all of your questions. Good luck!

How often should I do my whitening strips?
I bough a 112 strips of Crest Whitening Strips Classic. How often in a day should I do them and for how long? I brush my teeth my Arm and Hammer toothpaste with Baking soda and Peroxide. Should I also buy the Crest 3D whitening mouth wash? For some reason my teeth are still yellow even though I brush them 2-3 times a day. So I want to try the mouth wash and whitening strips.
--------------------
What do the directions say? I used to use them once a day for about 15 min. for 2 weeks and my teeth were white as new. I was a cocacola addict but went down from drinking 4-5 a day to 1-2 every two days. My teeth are much better looking and my acne is also cleaner. Just keep it up and they should get better, good luck! :)

tooth whitening ideas?
my teeth are not yellow, they are just a bit dull from having been in braces for a long time. i certainley would like to make them brighter. do any of the at home whitening things work? in a short period of time? which ones? and also, what has your experience been with whitening procedures done by the dentist? are their different procedures they can perform? and how much do they generally cost? thank you!
--------------------
the dentist usually has two options. 1. whitening in the chair. The dentist applies the whitening solution for you and in an hours time your teeth should be shades lighter. A kit is given you to take home aswell. This procedure is the most expensive, generally 700 - 900 dollars. 2. Whitening Kit. The dentist will give a whitening kit to take home and you can whiten your teeth at home. Impressions will have to be taken to make a bleach tray for you. It will usually cost 400 - 600 dollars. I'm not too sure about products in supermarkets. Some brands have higher ingrediants (not too sure what ingrediant) than others and this can ruin the enamel on your teeth. Toothpastes dont work. Dentists can give you an idea on what its the best for you. remember, if you whiten your teeth be careful what you eat or drink. Foods and drinks can stain easily. You dentist can let you know which ones. And when you do get your teeth whiten, dont expect them to go extremly white. Some people's teeth go 6 shades whiter and others 2 shades lighter. Overall. its best to go to your dentist. If your not happy with the costs ask them about supermarket brands. If they dont know ask what ingrediants to look out for. then you know yourself which ones are better than others also, if your teeth do become sensitive, which is normal, ask your dentist for tooth mousse. You can use sensodyne tooth paste for sensitive teeth but tooth mousse is a better desensitiser and comes in different flavours! i use it and it really works!

how much does it cost to get my teeth whitened?
Australia only $
--------------------
In Australia, you can pick up the at-home dental professional whitening kits for about $170 AUD. Professional in-office bleachings such as ZOOM whitening cost anywhere from $900-1400 AUD. However, you can always use hydrogen peroxide and toothpastes with baking soda. A baking soda and water mix/paste works especially well but be careful as it can quickly wear away the enamel on your teeth.

Is Scope Whitening Mouth Wash good for you?
Is Scope Whitening Mouth Wash good for you? I heard that sensodyne works by repairing your tooth anamal * not sure how too spell the word* which acts as a protective layer for sensitive teeth. I've heard that things like Crest white strips and whitening products, bleaching your teeth, all erode this anamal and cause your teeth too become more sensitive although they are whiter. So does anyone know if Scope Whitening actually works? And is it bad for you?
--------------------
whitening rinses dont stay on your teeth long enough to have any effect. things like white strips can cause sensitivity to the teeth so if using them, it is good to use a sensodyne tooth paste which might help with the pain, but that all depends on the person. I whiten professionally with custom made trays and I have no problems with sensitivity at all.

Have you tried Crest Whitestrips? I tried the free sample and I noticed a difference after 3 or 4 days, but my family noticed a difference within 2 days. I didn't think my teeth were that yellow to begin with :P I have heard of people having sensitive teeth after but I didn't have that problem. Try it out first in case you are one of those unlucky people who has a sensitivity problem. Just go to the Crest website and look for promotion and it'll lead you through a series of steps or just go to the direct link http://www.freesamplesfromheaven.com/cre Good luck :)
