Do you hate a teeth whitening too?
I do whitening at home every evening as my dentist told me...I hate to wear it for 1hour....grh I hate this....

How do you whiten a porcelain veneer on teeth?
I have a porcelain veneer on one of my teeth, from years ago when I was a kid. I am considering getting my teeth whitened but my dentist doesn' t think the procedure would work on the veneer. It would be obvious if it didn't, since it is one of my two front-teeth, and I'd rather know before I tried. Anybody know how this one can be whitened?

Best teeth whitening system?
I have yellowish teeth my whole life. I do not and have never smoked. I think coffee contributes, but honestly they have always just been that way. I tried crest strips a few years ago - and a mouth piece thing and they whitened in certain places and it looked WORSE - like I had white spots...!!! S0 PLEASE do not suggest those! I am willing to pay a few hundred at most - whats the best thing to do - what are the different dental procedures. what do celebrity's do? Thanks!

So I really don't have any experience in this kind of thing, so you guys are going to have to answer my question like I was in grade 2. So I decided to get my Teeth Whitened from the Dentist, but I don't really know how I can make an appointment, or anything of that sort. So I'm going to need step by step directions on what to do! For Example: 1. First of all, what am I even looking for? A dental office? A dental clinic? I don't even know what it's called. 2. How do I find a phone number or address for this kind of thing. 3. Once you find the dental listings, just start with calling any one of them. Be up front and tell them you are a new patient and you have questions regarding teeth whitening, the steps involved, and more importantly, ask how much it will cost. Generally, in the dental office, the first appointment will start with an exam. They may want to schedule a cleaning (prophylaxis) before doing any whitening. The steps usually involve impressions to make a tray that fits your teeth exactly and then providing you with tubes or syringes with the whitening material that you will place in the tray and wear over night. There may be a weeks worth in a kit. There may be some more advanced techniques but they will certainly cost more. Insurance companies do not pay for teeth whitening. Some of the over-the-counter teeth whitening strips work pretty well. You want to be careful though of the coverage area because you don't want to get the whitening material on your gums for any great length of time. Check the ingredients and the procedure. My teeth are discolored from years of drinking coffee and smoking. I only smoked for about 4 years and I quit over 5 years ago. I have 1 cup of coffee in the morning (for the past 6 years) and an occasional cup of tea. How can I whiten my teeth without spending a fortune on a dentist? Do I need to avoid coffee and tea?

I had the same problem. When I switched to Vivid White toothpaste, it made a pretty noticeable difference. Brushing with baking soda occasionally helps, as well as the white strips that people are already recommending. Just don't do it all at once, or you'll ruin your enamel.

What whitening strips work best?
I recently got my braces removed and my orthodontist suggested whitening strips to even out the splotches of uneven color on my teeth. However, he didn't mention any specific brand. Can anyone who has used teeth whitening products tell me what they recommend?

Yes, peroxide and baking soda are natural whiteners so they will help, minimize, daily stain. Peroxide is the main ingredient in tooth whiteners. I couldn't tell you about the others "remedies". I'm a dental assistant so here's my 2 cents. I would suggest the Crest White strips followed with peroxide and baking soda toothpaste (Crest or Colgate). Keep in mind though that if you smoke, drinks a lot of dark liquids daily (coffee, tea, dark soda, even red wines) you will not notice that big of a difference because you are putting the stain back on. Also, if you have sensitive teeth, be prepared for more sen. if you use any professional bleachers (like Crest whitening strips). The sensitivity will go away. Lastly if you have any tooth colored fillings or crowns, the bleach will not change the shade of them so you may notice that difference when bleaching your teeth. Oh, the Listerine mouth rinse, again, is mainly a diluted peroxide rinse. It's not going to whiten your teeth like the strips will. Hope this helped.

I've been doing this for just about four months now and the results are great and my teeth were white to begin with.

I got my braces off on september 14 2009...My Orthodontist gave me a bleaching kit 2 use but ive herd that bleaching your teeth isn't good. I only used my kit 2 days after i got my braces off then i quit because i didn't have any time 2 do it...If i use it just a few days from 2day do you think it would hurt my teeth....BTW i felt no sensitivity when i did it back i september
