I have a friend who swears that her pearly whites are the result of hydrogen peroxide( I have seen her in action,she uses this stuff 3 times a day) isn't hydrogen peroxide bad for your teeth in some way? I have to say her teeth look really really good and she is not the product of good clean living and she smokes. Is it safe to use or rinse with hydrogen peroxide? She swears by it,Is it safe?

If you have ever seen pictures of me.. you would think that I use some kind of whitening agent.. but I do not.. I rinse, after brushing with a 1/2 and 1/2 solution of peroxide and water. I also brush my teeth a few times a week with baking soda.. but would not recommend doing baking soda and peroxide at the same time.. you don't want a 'volcano' to come out of your mouth!! LOL

I started whitening my teeth with the new crest 3d strips and...?
I'm getting white squares where my braces used to be! I got them taken off 3 years ago, so I have no idea why this is happening, and I really don't wanna stop using the strips. Like it's just an outline of the square and it's ridiculously white. The rest of my tooth gets whitened, but this is so noticeable. What do I doooo?!

Dip a tooth brush in hydrogen peroxide and then dip the wet brush in baking soda. Brush away. Wet as necessary with hydrogen peroxide. Let the stuff sit in your mouth while you do the other teeth in the back. If there is some really bad staining you can add some salt to the baking powder mix. When I had braces I had brackets glued to my teeth. Of course I drink tea and red wine which stained the glue. 10 minutes of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda turned it totally white. The mixture is drying on the lips, so use lip balm. It can also irritate the gums too but all of the mixtures do. Within a couple hours my mouth felt back to normal. I have never had tooth sensitivity from this mixture.

i dont think theres an actual possible effective way to get your teeth whiter with your braces on, you cant use whitening strips since the brackets are in the way. either way, its not actually possible. but when you do get your braces off, consider going to see a cosmetic dentist in your area, you can get a take-home bleaching tray with impressions of your teeth, your teeth will begin to be white within 2 weeks, and the cost is from $300-$500 depending on the location. you can expect great results, and i did the same thing after i got my braces off. so itll definetely be satisfying.

Whitening is great! In my professional opinion, I would recommend seeing your dentist to have him evaluate which procedure is best for you. Not all patients are good candidates for whitening, certain stains are difficult to whiten, also if you have a lot of crowns or tooth colored fillings on your anterior teeth you might not want to whiten. Only YOUR teeth will change color, so you will end up with darker crowns and fillings when the rest of your teeth lighten. Teeth can only get so white, a lot of which is determined by the color of dentin beneath the tooth enamel. People with very very white teeth usually have veneers. If your teeth are severely discolored you would best benefit from the in office whitening procedures. These procedures are a bit more pricey but lighten the teeth more shades than OTC whitening products. If your teeth are only slightly discolored, products such as crest white strips work great! Don't waste your money on expensive in office procedures if your teeth are already pretty white, they will only change a few shades. In offices procedures such as trays or zoom whitening generally change your teeth 5-8 shades where as OTC strips only change your teeth about 3-4 shades. It's also important to note that you should only get whitening toothpastes that have hydrogen peroxide in them. Many whitening toothpastes are only "whitening" because they have abrasive agents w/in the toothpaste which over time are damaging to enamel. Hope this helps!!
