Teeth whitening can someone please help!?

Ok so I heard from a friend that worked in a dentist office that if you bought the whitening stuff from your dentist and just got a hockey mouth guard that you could boil it then take it out and mold it to your teeth and use the whitening stuff from the dentist like that instead of paying all that money. Has anyone done this or heard of this before if so please help me and explain how it works?
--------------------
Yes I have tried that before. And it does work and save hundreds of dollars. Maybe by two mouth guards in case you mess up on one. Also, Make sure the molding is tight to your teeth, so don't wiggle it at all while it is hardening. Also, if the mold moves up around your gums, maybe cut that part off (be careful not to make the edges sharp though). My molding moved up to the gums, and so the tooth bleach ended up bleaching my gums. They were white for like a day. Just a heads up. Hope that helps!

sensodyne pronamel good after whitening teeth?

I was just wondering if this can help the enamel of teeth after whitening, as i know whitening isn't very good on the enamel.
--------------------
I am past 90 and still actually have most of my own teeth, although some f them are not quite white anymore... I must tell you that I only use Sensodyne toothpaste and that it works wonders for me......

Is the extreme sensitivity caused by teeth whitening dangerous?

I've been whitening my teeth with Aquafresh Whitening strips, the only problem with them is they make my gums really sensitive, not so much that they cause problems during the day, but they really hurt when the strips are on and when i brush my teeth. Are my gums actually being harmed, or will I be safe if I just put up with it until it's done? I only have like 3 or 4 left till it's done. I don't want to keep whitening if something bad is actually happening to my gums/teeth, but I'm ok with the discomfort if it won't affect me adversely otherwise
--------------------
Like any bleaching system, care should be taken to make sure that the strips are not on your gum tissue, but just on your teeth. If this is what you are doing, then I seriously doubt the strips would pose any long term threat to your gums. Maybe it would be a good idea to let your gums heal from what you have already done, and then finish off your strips.

Any suggestions for teeth whitening?

Alright, so I decided to whiten my teeth, unfortunately as a 19 year old full time college student and part time employee, I can't exactly afford $400+ for a dentist to whiten my teeth. I wanted some suggestions on over the counter products and everyones experiences on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated =)
--------------------
hated the strips. They cost to much and easily come off! You basically can't talk or anything with them on.... But... I LOVE Crest Night Effects...Crest Night Effects is a teeth whitener that works while you sleep, so it fits conveniently into your schedule. You'll have a whiter smile without giving up valuable time during your busy day. The competitive daytime paint-on teeth whitener is water-soluble so it may dissolve quickly. Normal daytime activities such as eating and drinking — even your own saliva — can wash most of the whitener away in as little as five minutes. So while you're waiting for the ordinary daytime whitener to dry, your already-too-busy schedule has just gotten crazier. Using Crest Night Effects is as easy as getting ready for bed and going to sleep. Just brush your teeth as you normally would. I saw a difference within days....Its a two week thing just like everything else but within 2 weeks your teeth are so white. People were always asking if I got them bleached...or saying that I had the whitest teeth they had seen. Here is some information about them from the site... Crest Night Effects is a teeth whitening system. You'll get a noticeably whiter smile while you sleep over 14 nights.* It even works on tough, everyday stains, including coffee and tobacco. Why is Crest Night Effects so effective at teeth whitening? The secret is our patented LiquidStrip Technology™ coating that stays on your teeth overnight. It whitens teeth at home, while you sleep. The Color of Your Teeth When you look at your teeth, the color you see is more than just the color of the surface. Because the top enamel layer is translucent, the color beneath is also visible. And since the things we eat and drink contain coloring agents that actually soak into our teeth, the layer beneath the surface of the enamel becomes stained, too. Juice, coffee, tar and tobacco for those who smoke, all contribute to making your teeth look yellow and dingy. Teeth Whitening Dilemmas Teeth whitening toothpastes and products only clean the surface of your teeth and don't have any way to actually whiten the stains below the surface of the enamel. Special whitening systems are available to penetrate the enamel — including paint-on systems. Many of these are water-soluble, though, and mostly dissolve away in as little as five minutes when they come into contact with saliva. The Crest Night Effects Difference Crest Night Effects' unique gel forms a LiquidStrip™ coating. The water-resistant coating holds the teeth whitening agent in place, slowly releasing hydrogen peroxide while you sleep. The LiquidStrip coating works to remove stains and loosen stain-causing buildup. In the morning, just brush the LiquidStrip coating and the stains away. After just two nights of using Crest Night Effects, you'll notice a clean, smooth feeling on the surface of your teeth. How to Use Crest Night Effects For the best effect, apply Crest Night Effects immediately before going to sleep. Don't forget to review our important tips for maximum benefit. Do not apply multiple coats of the teeth whitening gel. Reapplication may remove the previous layer. As you brush it on, you may find that Crest Night Effects does not form a complete or even coating on your teeth. This will not affect the whitening result. You will know Crest Night Effects is working because you can feel the LiquidStrip coating on your teeth right after you apply until you brush it away in the morning. You can sip water while wearing Crest Night Effects. We recommend that you do not eat or smoke while Night Effects products are applied to your teeth. You may find that wiping your teeth with a tissue before brushing in the morning will help prevent the LiquidStrip coating from accumulating on your toothbrush. Most people find keeping their mouth open for about 30 seconds helps the LiquidStrip coating set.

Does anyone know of any good teeth whitening methods?

My teeth aren't bad at all, I would just love for them to look a little bit brighter. I used to use Colgate Simply White, which was just a brush-on gel that you used twice a day. It worked great, but I haven't seen it sold in stores for quite a while. Right now I use Listerine Whitening Pre-brush rinse, and it doesn't seem to be working. I have never tried any kind of whitening strips, because I have heard that they make your teeth sensitive. Anyone have good personal experiences with their teeth whitening methods?
--------------------
I use Crest Whitening Strips. Not the Classic but the one just up from that. They do make your teeth more sensitive but just use tooth paste with more fluoride in it and it will help. I get special tooth paste from my dentist for under $10 to use while I am whitening. Also, I recommend using an electric tooth brush. This will help naturally whiten your teeth and keep them that way. I also use Crest Vivid White toothpaste for both day and night to help even out the color after I whiten and keep them whiter longer. I have always been happy with the Crest brand whitening strips and would highly recommend them.

Recommendations for teeth whitening?

In 14 days I will FINALLY be getting my braces taken off after almost 7 years of being in them. My question is what is the best over the counter whitening system for somebody who wants great results in a couple days time? I realize that the best option for me would be to go to the dentist and have him whiten my teeth but I just do not have the resources for that right now. My husband, who has never seen me without braces yet, will be home from his deployment 5 days after I get them off and I just want them to look nice and bright. Any suggestions?
--------------------
hello you can follow some step in making your teeth whiter Instructions Things You'll Need: * Baking soda * Hydrogen peroxide * Fresh strawberries * Banana peels * Whitening mouthwash Step 1 Brush your teeth with baking soda and peroxide or a whitening toothpaste recommended by your dentist. Many name-brand toothpastes now contain baking soda to help remove surface stains from coffee, tea, and soda, and many bleaching systems contain hydrogen peroxide to help users make their teeth whiter. Dip your toothbrush in a small amount of peroxide and then dip it into the baking soda. Brush your teeth for at least two minutes and rinse your mouth well. Brush your teeth using your regular toothpaste for at least 30 seconds afterward. While this method is very effective in helping most people achieve a whiter smile, you should only use it once or twice a week to prevent tooth sensitivity. Step 2 Eat plenty of strawberries. Strawberries contain malic acid, a natural bleaching agent that may be just as effective as name brand teeth-whiteners. You can even mash a strawberry and apply it directly to your teeth to brighten your smile gently and effectively. Step 3 Try rubbing a ripe banana peel on your teeth every day. Simply use the inside of a banana peel to massage your teeth for at least two minutes before brushing. You should see a stunning improvement in your smile in as little as two weeks. Step 4 Use a whitening mouthwash to get whiter teeth and kill bacteria in the mouth. Whitening mouthwashes work well for removing surface stains on the areas of your teeth that are hard to reach with a toothbrush or dental floss. Swish the liquid in your mouth for at least 60 seconds twice daily to make your teeth whiter and improve your smile. Step 5 Avoid using products that make your teeth whiter but create long-term problems. Many household products have received acclaim on the Internet for producing bright smiles, but most dentists don't agree with the claims. Brushing your teeth in lemon or lime juice, salt brine or household bleach will whiten your teeth, but the results are only temporary and they come at a high cost. Lemon juice, lime juice and bleach can wear away the enamel of the teeth and expose the yellow dentin beneath, while salt brine destroys the delicate tissue of the gums, which can cause your teeth to become dislodged and fall out. If you're unsure about the safety of teeth-whitening products, talk to your dentist.

tooth whitening system ! How do I produce tooth whitening system? slowly giving up?

My friends couldn't give me real answers on teeth whitening kits. I want to get super white teeth, but I can't afford the $500 visit to the dentist. Do you know anything that works for super white teeth? Maybe a product I can use for my teeth whitening kits question?
--------------------
I was talking about plain white teeth last night. What a coincidence. It's harder to whiten your teeth with regular toothpaste. If you look at the isle in your local store, you'll see they have teeth whitening kits. Those are the ones that work. My friend was able to order free trials online to test them all out to see which one works the best. The problem is, the first one he used worked so well, his teeth couldn't get any whiter to try out the other ones. He got the trial kits below after a few days of researching on plain white teeth. Let me know how it works for you.

Whitening teeth and baking soda????? Is it safe?

I really want to whiten my teeth but they say to use baking soda ....is it safe for my teeth. If so how do i do it??????? Should i just dip my toothbrush in the backing soda????? what should i do????
--------------------
It can be safe as long as you do not use more than twice a week. Then the harm would be turning your gums white since baking soda is like sand. Your suppose to put your toothpaste on then sprinkle/dip it in baking soda. Without toothpaste you won't be doing much to help clean your teeth. Also there are toothpaste with baking soda in them, maybe you can try them out too. The thing is I've tried it and it doesn't work.

What different procedures are available for teeth whitening ?

I want to have my teeth professionally whitened . My sister had her teeth lasered last year before her wedding and she said because of it, her teeth feel more sensitive now than they were before. She also said they are blotchy now ( a year later ) . It cost her $800 ( Aus Dollars) and i don't want to pay that much for something that doesn't work. Is there such a thing as teeth bleaching, would that be more affective ?, and more safe ? I'm going to a teeth specialist next week so i'll ask him then, but now i'm just curious to see if anyone here has any experience with teeth whitening. thanks in advance for your help :)
--------------------
Main procedures 1. In office, like your sister. 2. Take home trays, which are made by the dentist, and you are given the bleach material done daily (costs about half as much). 3. Over the counter products like "Crest White Strips" (most inexpensive). With any bleach material, teeth usually become sensitive. You could lessen this by using fluoride, like "Act," which can be bought at any drug store. General rules: hydrogen peroxide is stronger than carbamide peroxide, strips are better than brush on gels (allows longer contact with teeth).

Was my laser teeth whitening treatment just a con?

I spent £250 on a 1 hour teeth whitening session (really painful and has left my teeth very sensitive) and for about 2 days, my teeth were dramatically whiter...2 months on, they look the same as they used to, even though I have been using the bleaching kit the guy gave me every week. They were never that yellow anyway, but I wanted them REALLY white, like as white as all the celebs seem to have them. I am so annoyed, I feel like I have been ripped off. Has anyone else had this experience? Why aren't my teeth whiter? How can I get them really white??? :-(
--------------------
Did you have them whitened within a dental surgery setting, does not sound like it as many dentists will actually do a test tooth to see what the degree of sensitivity will be. Trouble is everyone is sold the treatment as the be all and end all of having white teeth and with some people it just will not work. As stated the really white teeth seen in the media are veneers which is a longer and much slower process. Your problem is the sensitivity you have been left with has now been with you for two months so sadly it maybe a permanent thing for you now. It is a major risk with teeth whitening and is very understated away from the dental surgeries. ****Okay you have stated that you had it done in a beauty salon. That means it was done by an unqualified person with scant regard to the risks involved. It is now really very important that you forget the failed whitening and deal with the long term and probably permanent issue of sensitivity. You do need to see a dentist as soon as possible and discuss what can be done to restrict the damage.***

Crest teeth whitening strips?

Well i've never used any teeth whitening methods before. Until a couple of days ago when it was necessary. I have a question though, i just want to make sure im doing this right. Im supposed to brush my teeth first right? Then put on the strips a couple of minutes afterwards, then after 30 minutes i take them off. My question is, all of that goo that comes off the strips is that supposed to stay on after i take the strips off? Or do i make sure all of that is out of my mouth? Thanks for any help. =]
--------------------
You're supposed to rinse after you take the strips out. Trust me, you don't want the bleaching agent on any longer than the instructions say. It can really irritate your gums.

best teeth whitening treatment ?

I am very self conscious about my teeth as they arnt sparkling white what is the best way to make them white quickly whithout treatment ?
--------------------
Those Crest Whitening Strips work very well, as long as you're not worried about your teeth enamel. But really you could go to the dentist and they'll make a mold of your mouth. About a week later they should give you these syringe looking things with the teeth whitening stuff that you put in the mold and keep in for 30 minutes. Otherwise, just brush 'em, brush 'em, brush 'em

white tooth whitening - Anyone knows alot information about white tooth whitening? im losing hope fast?

I need help on the teeth whitening cost department. I've used white strips before but they're really gross for some reason. Any other teeth whitening cost methods that has worked for yourself?
--------------------
I asked a friend (dentist) about my teeth whitening gels questions and she recommended ordering a teeth whitening kit online....it's the best thing I've ever used. It works great and really doesn't take that long to whiten. You can also go to your dentist and get the take home gel but the price for those ranges from $500-$2000. Try the whitening kit first to spend a little and see if that works. If you don't like it then visit your doctor for their home gel. You can also try baking soda and peroxide but it takes a very long time to see any type of 'teeth whitening gels' result.

Please give me feedback on the best or most over the counter effective teeth-whitening product.?

Crest Strips, Mentadent, etc etc. Ovet the counter stuff.
--------------------
Most of the OTC stuff is marginal at best. I've tried a few but never really had good results. I went for a basic checkup at my dentist and the cleaning that the dental hygienist performed outdid that stuff. If you're really want your teeth white - save up to have the dentist do it with the right equipment. You'll have it done right the first time in a safe and controlled environment. If you're really into white teeth, get caps. But then you might look like Sammy Hagar and that just is not natural.

Best TEETH whitening SOLD IN DRUG STORES?

lesss than $30. and dont say brushing your teeth or Whitenimg toothpate.
--------------------
Discuss this with your dentist at your next visit. The strips work well, but the results aren't lasting. The office one hour bleaching works great but is very expensive and usually last a few years. The best I've seen is the bleaching trays with a mild solution that your doctor prescribes. With the trays you and your doctor monitor your bleaching progress. Once you've reached the brightest shade, usually in about two weeks you are finished. The up side to this is you get to keep your trays and the solution. So when ever you think your teeth are getting dull from coffee, tea and other staining foods, usually every 3-4 months, you can bleach for thirty minutes to an hour and be right back to bright. And anytime you need more solution your doctor can provide it. Most patients seem to perfer this way over most others and get the best results. And the solution isn't harmful to the teeth, it does not remove any enamel, only stain thats attached to the enamel. The down side to this is you don't get instant results. Not much of a down side, is it? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages with your doctor, he/she will be the best to advise you. Hope I've been of some help to you. Good luck!

Best way to whiten teeth? whitening products, do they hurt?

What are some really good teeth whitening products I can use? Also, I have one tooth that's out of alignment and starting to get hidden behind on of the other teeth (hopefully I can get Invisline braces after I graduate college) so would the strips kind still work alright on that tooth? Or should I get paste or gel kind? And i've heard these products can make teeth sensitive..is this just temporary, or can it be damaging? And does using baking soda really help? Baking soda toothpaste doesn't do crap, but how about straight baking soda?
--------------------
I am currently using Rembrandt's Professional White. It is a gel that you leave on your teeth for twenty minutes max every night. It isn't awful at all and I have had no side effects. As for the braces, I am a college student and have been wearing invisalign for almost a year now. There are not noticeable and for small changes like just one tooth out of line it is a simple task. Also if you do end up getting invisalign, they work as whitening trays. Every night I just put the rembrandt whitening gel into my liners and leave it in overnight. In the morning it rinses out fine and I straightened and whitened my teeth all at the same time.

Teeth whitening/bleaching kits?

I am getting married in August and would like to know of any tooth whitening/bleaching kits that really work. I live in England. Or how much do dentists charge to bleach them?
--------------------
I've done both home bleaching and ones at the dentist. I found that the dentist's really got deep down stains and was permanent even though I didn't get the results I expected. It didn't look drastically different like I had wanted, but my dentist said it was, "More natural looking that those fake bright white blinding teeth." Ugh lol. That treatment was a few hundred dollars, not bad. But once or twice a year I use like 2 weeks worth of Crest White Strips and those really seem to do the trick too. Although if you have sensitive gums you might want to watch out, they can make them a little raw for a few days. But they don't bother me much. Not sure if they have these in England though. Sorry if I wasn't much help.

How to whiten my teeth naturally?

I have heard that baking soda works to whiten teeth but is it okay to use that with caps on my teeth and I use a retainer every night? Or is there any other ways of whitening my teeth naturally? Thanks
--------------------
If by "naturally" you mean without peroxide, then you can TRY baking soda, but to be completely honest, you will NOT notice a very dramatic effect...maybe a 1/2 shade lighter? Further, if you have caps, ANY whitening procedure/process probably won't HURT them...however, caps (and bonded composite fillings of any sort) will NOT whiten at all! If you intend to do any whitening, go ahead and do it, get teeth as white as you can and then you'd have to replace bonding/caps w/ new ones to match the new color. let me know if you still have questions! good luck!
