--------------------
Hey.. I tried the Whitestrips and stuff but they really didn't work that well. What happened was I ended up ordering Celebrity Smile whitening from http://mycelebsmile.com/y/ and used that. It was SO much better than Whitestrips and I guess it is the same strength as the professional dentist whitening stuff. My teeth are looking better (well, at least whiter) than ever now!!

Has anyone used e-Bright, The Whitening Accelerator?

I'm looking for a good tooth whitening system for dramatic changes in a short period of time. I have never tried any tooth whitening system before. So any comments would be very appreciated.
--------------------
I've heard a while ago those light whitening systems are a scam. They probally have 0 to little results. Go whitestrips or ask a professional to whiten your teeth.

Can naturally yellow teeth be whitened?

I've tried brushing with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for 3 weeks with no success. Perhaps my teeth are not stained and so there is no way to get rid of the yellow. Could it be that only stained teeth be whitened and not teeth that are naturally yellow in color? My teeth are strong and thick and I heard that can cause teeth to be yellow since less light can pass through it.
--------------------
It's true, if you're a coffee drinker or smoker your teeth can yellow quite a bit over time. Over the counter teeth whitening can work pretty good, but I think in your case the stronger percentage of peroxide from a dentist would work better. I would recommend the trays instead of "in office" bleaching. Tray whitening can last over 18 months where as the "in office" bleaching only lasts about 6 months (Plus it costs twice as much). I'm not sure that thicker teeth have much to do with it, but genetics in general might be a factor. Ask your dentist about a bleach that has 16- 22% carbamide peroxide. I've seen dramatic results!! Hope this helps -Dental Assistant

How do i whiten my teeth?

It isn't like i don't brush my teeth. I visited the dentist and she told me that my teeth is naturally yellowish. is there any food or anything that i can do to whiten my teeth?
--------------------
There are several types of products available for use at home. Some of these tooth whitening products can be easily purchased off the shelves of pharmacy while others are dispensed by your dentist. One popular tooth whitening product that you can use is bleaching solution that contains peroxide for bleaching tooth enamel. The bleaching agent in these products is usually carbamide peroxide, which is available in 10, 16 and 22 percent concentrations. Whiteners that contain peroxide typically come in gel form and are placed in a mouthguard. Some products are used twice a day for 2 weeks while others are intended for overnight use for a 1 to 2 weeks period. If you can obtain the bleaching solution from your dentist, he will be able to construct a custom mouth guard to fit your teeth precisely. Currently, the American Dental Association endorses only dentist-dispensed home-use percent carbamide peroxide tray-applied gels. In addition to bleaching solution, whitening strips are increasingly being used as a preferred tooth whitening product. For instance, you are now able to get your hands on a set of Crest Whitestrips Supreme from any convenience store. The flexible, invisible strips are coated with an enamel-safe tooth bleaching gel. To whiten your teeth, you simply place the strips on your teeth and wear them for about 15 to 30 minutes each day. After a period of about 21 days, you should be able to see a significant difference on the brightness of your teeth. Have you had your teeth professionaly whitened?

Did you experience sensitivity? What was the process like? Is there anything I should know before getting my teeth professionally whitened?
--------------------
I have done bleaching on patients and there is usually some sensitivity. It is associated with the dehydration of the teeth, or recession of the gums. Typically it doesn't exceed 24hrs. But you can do a pretreatement for 1-2 weeks before the procedure that will drastically decrease your sensitivity. If you use Fluoridex tooth paste, or rinse for the 1-2 weeks before your bleaching appt. you will have significantly less sensitivity. But again it doesn't last typically more than a few hours. I do recommend that you plan foods to eat because you will not be able to have things that have dyes in them. Examples are coffee, red wine, red sauces, dark veggies ect. because your teeth are more suseptible to picking up stains for 48 hrs. after you bleach. So you will need to avoid items like those. The bleaching process is very simple. You will need to be as comfortable as possible. The Dental assistant or who ever does the bleaching does a block out process which covers all the tissue in the mouth so that only the teeth are exposed. This is the most time consuming process of the entire appt. You will have a mouth full of gauze, and cotton for at the most 2 1/2 hrs. (not to terrible) Most bleachings have 3 -15min. rounds. Realistically it depends on the bleach being used, but you can always ask before they start. Take a neck pillow and a set of head phones with you! After my bleaching I always apply something to help with sensitivity. Just try to be as comfortable as possible, and enjoy your new smile!

What will happen if I brush my teeth too much?

I like to brush my teeth. I always have. I normally brush my teeth like five times a day, but since I got braces I've been doing it like seven times a day. Is that too much? I don't whiten, they already sparkle. And whitening can damage teeth a lot, right? My teeth are getting really sensitive. I've never really liked cold stuff such as ice cream but even if I decided to have a little when offered my teeth would hurt really bad from the coldness.
--------------------
As a dentist, I will tell you that it sounds like you are over-brushing, especially if you are starting to experience sensitivity. Over-zealous or improper brushing can cause something called gingival recession. This is where the gum tissue around your teeth begin to pull down away from the upper portion of the teeth exposing root surfaces. Root surfaces are not covered with enamel and their exposure can cause significant sensitivity. Once gingival recession has occurred it is almost impossible to reverse. Fluoride treatments can help relieve the symptoms of sensitivity and gentler brushing will prevent additional recession. See your dentist immediately regarding a fluoride treatment and ask for the hygienist to show you proper oral hygiene technique. Proper oral hygiene is especially important for patients wearing braces. Let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

How can I whiten my teeth?

I was wondering whether I could whiten my teeth using my facial hair bleach creme called Jolen? If not, does anyone have any tips on how to whiten my teeth please?
--------------------
Baking soda and peroxide work great. The otc whitening strips aren't worth what you pay for them, but a lot of cosmetic dentists have a special gel and light they put on your teeth, it will whiten them 7-10 shades. A lot of whitening products cause sensitivity in your teeth so be careful. Aftercare is important too, no smoking, and if you drink anything but clear liquids, use a straw, that way it doesn't have to wash over your pearly whites and stain them. DO NOT USE HAIR BLEACH ON THEM!!! If you read the label I would bet it will say not for internal use. It will poison you!

ever since i started to use this whitening crest mouth wash i feel like my teeth r more sensitive...?

why is this? and is there a way that i could whitten my teeth without ruining the enamel on them? like would brushing with floride tooth paste help?
--------------------
Just as everyone else is saying, the inner layer of your teeth below the enamel is called dentin and is made of hundreds of thousands of tubules and the peroxide affects this area of your teeth to make them more sensitive. There are several options to decrease the sensitivity. 1) Don't use the mouthwash as frequent (alternate with a non-whitening rinse) 2) use a toothpaste with fluoride in it (Sensodyne is best) and if you leave the paste in at night while sleeping (don't rinse) it'll work even better 3) take ibuprofen or other pain medication while using it... (I wouldn't do this though, it's just recommended while using bleaching trays or strips) Personally, I'd use a store bought whitening system like Crest Whitestrips or any other brand and just deal with the pain for 2 weeks than using the mouth rinse and having the pain for as long as you use it Don't worry, you're not ruining the enamel on your teeth either... whitening works because the peroxide acts as an "oxidizer" and just lifts the stains from the enamel layer of your teeth (kind of like detergent lifting stains from your shirts) and the enamel is left unharmed

How do I whiten my coffee-stained teeth?

There are a lot of home whitening kits that you can buy. The fastest i know of is Rembrandt 2-hour whitening. Otherwise, you can get 1 hour whitening in a dental office.

how do i naturally whiten my teeth?

my teeth are kinda yellow and gross. i don't want to use any whitening strips or gel and no dentist!
--------------------
To get really bright teeth you have to use a gel or trays that contain a bleaching agent. Natural only methods including oil pulling - swirling sesame or olive oil for a few minutes each morning for 5 minutes and then spitting the oil out. Many people have experienced whiter teeth and improved gum health. Just google oil pulling and you can read for yourself. It sounds crazy but it does work. Other natural ways are baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. The baking soda removes stains, and the hydrogen peroxide is a weak acid with oxidizing properties which acts like a bleaching agent. Some people use strawberries and other fruit- but this is not to be recommended because the acid eats away at the enamel. Finally, people have reported good success with teeth soap for keeping teeth white and clean. Most toothpaste contains glycerin which coats the teeth and prevents re-minerilsation of the enamel. Keeping the tooth surface squeaky clean with soap removes this coating, allows the tooth to re-mineralize and may help whiten the teeth.

Would my teeth become whiter if I used a sundbed at the same time as using Crest Whitestrips?

I know that dentists use UV light in the whitening process and I have a product called Britey Whitez by Fiesta Sun that is used to whiten your teeth as you tan and is activated by the UV light, I wondered if the whitestrips would have the same affect as they have more whhtening ingredient than Britey Whitez!
--------------------
No, the UV light wouldn't be intense enough, nor would it be specific in its projection,ie it wouldn't be concentrated only on your teeth . Maybe when your skin was browner your teeth would look whiter! Not recommending sunbeds though..they are not good for the skin. I'm very surprised someone above advocated this And called themselves a dentist AND doctor!!

I really need to know, how do you whiten your teeth?

I am going to be in an upcoming movie, and I need to know how to whiten my teeth asap. Its a really big deal because this could be my future, so please help me. I am on kind of a budget, so I need to learn how to for no money at all. Thanks P.S. Please don't say brushing my teeth and using mouth wash and flossing, I already do all that.
--------------------
If you can't afford professional whitening this will absolutely work. I do it and my teeth are as white as ppl that have them done professionally. I use a mixture of baking soda and peroxide. Make it into a paste and brush your teeth really, really good I mean for about 4 to 5 minutes 3 x a day. You will def. see a difference very quickly. If you are sensitive to peroxide mix some water in w/the mixture. It does work Good luck......
