teeth whitening?

ok this is the story. i got my teeth bleached (and they did the shittiest job. like seriously my teeth have white and yellow splotches. anyways the question is...can i brush my teeth now? i got it done yesterday. they told me no coffee and no mouth wash. but isnt mouth wash almost like brushing your teeth?
--------------------
Blotchiness is not an uncommon phenomenon with whitening and is usually temporary. It generally happens because the tooth becomes a bit dehydrated (which is a normal part of the process) and the spots will usually go away once the tooth has been fully rehydrated. You can brush your teeth now, but I would guess that they don't want you using a rinse (or coffee, tea, wine, soda, smoking) because the "pores" of the teeth have been opened up to remove the stain which has left them open to getting more stain in, if exposed to it. I would give them a call for a follow up if it doesn't resolve. Hope that helps- Good luck. JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

teeth whitening?

ok, so i have kinda yellowish teeth. i want whiter teeth without going to the dentist & getting them bleached. what is a good way to get them whiter [without spending more than $30 on pastes or stripps]. thanks!
--------------------
use listerine pre-brush whitening mouthwash. it works great and costs less than $10. you can also use crest whitening toothpaste too.

Teeth whitening?

I use listerine pre brush mouthwash and I think colgate whitening cinamin flavour. Should I try something else? Does salt really work?
--------------------
To whiten? If u really want white teeth it is only your dentist can make your teeth really white. Chairside whitening or at home whitening (pola, nite white, rembrant). Your dentist will take impression of your teeth and then fabricate a mouthpiece. You use the mouthpiece to do home whitening for 2 weeks at least. It is quite expensive but you got your moneys worth.

Teeth Whitening???

Teeth Whitening?

What's a good way you can whiten your teeth in about one day?
--------------------
Other than an in office procedure you wont' get a considerable result in one day....but, overall I would say that most of my patient's have had some measure of success with the Crest Whitestrips, some more than others. Our office uses the Supreme which are 4 times stronger than what you can get in the store, but the others will work as well but take more time and possibly more than one kit.The results are usually pretty quick, noticeable in the first few days, best in a week or longer. If you can, do yourself the favor of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar, plaque, or orthodontic cement) will impede their ability to work. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). All of the methods (strips, trays, custom trays, in office whitening) have the potential to make your teeth temporarily sensitive, but will not harm the enamel. If you get sensitive use the product every other day in conjunction with a sensitive tooth toothpaste. You might try to drink dark liquids through a straw and don't smoke. Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth and therefore are not so effective. Whatever method you use it will not whiten your teeth for life, as you age your teeth will get darker and may need to be whitened again. Good luck! JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

At-home teeth whitening help!?

I just got invited to go to a Mardi Gras ball on February 18, and I want my teeth to be pretty. I can't afford to go to a dentist for professional whitening, so I was wondering if anyone had any idea which of the over-the-counter whitening strips/products would work the best and fastest, because I have less than 2 weeks! Thanks in advance for your time!
--------------------
Avoid coffee, tea, smoking and yes, store whitening products work... most have an active ingredient of h2o2 (hydrogen peroxide) and baking soda. If you want fast results brush teeth with baking soda and a 50/50 mixture of h2o2 and h2o..... taste like dung, but your not swallowing the stuff. just dip brush in solution and dust bristles lightly with baking soda and scrub away!!! P.S. using a 50/50 solution of h2o2 and h2o makes a very hygienic mouth.... kills more germs than scope or Listerine! (according to microbiology)

You could always have a dentist professionally whiten them. It's expensive but it does work.

Safe Teeth Whitening?

I drink a lot of Pepsi so my teeth are stained. I want a solution that is fairly inexpensive and is safe. It wouldn't hurt if it was quick to. I have heard that poroxide works, but I have also heard that it is pretty dangerous. Do yall have any safe at home teeth whitening recipes?
--------------------
peroxide is only dangerous if swallowed, swish it around in your mouth everyday for 10 minutes and spit. also you can try crest whitening strips, they are fairly inexpensive and produce good results.

Baking soda teeth whitening help?

Um. Yeah I just started brushing my teeth with baking soda - all ready they feel whiter LOL. I brushed my teeth for 2-3 minutes approx. Now, my teeth aren't THAT sensitive, neither are my gums. But they happen to be OCCASIONALLY. How long should I brush my teeth with baking soda for until they turn white completely? Because all websites are different. Some say once a week, some say once every 2 weeks, some even say 3 times a year, which seems a bit too long. >< And a few say everyday. But I'm guessing all those suggestions depend on the kind of teeth I have. And I just told you XD they're not really sensitive that much. I just want to get the yellowish.. food coloring stains off with baking soda really. How often should I do this for? (:
--------------------
yes my dentist told me to brush my teeth with backing soda with my toothpast for only 1 - 2 times a week and yea it works

I whitening toothpaste bad for your teeth in any way?

also how long will my teeth stay white for affter I stop using whitening toothpaste, and what is the best (reasanable priced, and accessible) whitening toothpaste thanks
--------------------
The reason the whitening toothpaste is called "Whitening" is because the paste is more abrasive than the non-whitening toothpastes. The stain that the whitening toothpaste gets rid of is on the surface of the tooth usually caused by the food you eat. Where whitening strips are for the stain that they call Intrinsic stain (has been absorbed into the tooth) Because the whitening toothpaste is abrasive, it Can wear at your teeth and gums (depending how hard you brush, type of toothbrush, how often...) It's tough to say how it would affect your teeth since I don't know your history. But as long as you don't have an issue with weak enamel and don't ruin your toothbrush bristles within a month(meaning you brush too hard), you should be fine. You may want to ask you Dental Hygienist the next time you go in for a cleaning,(or your dentist if you see him/her first) You probably will not see a Huge difference in the whiteness of your teeth unless you have heavy deposits on your teeth. After you use the toothpaste it will stay white as long as the debre is gone. Things that cause stain on the outside of your teeth: coffee, coke, tang, tea, smoking. If used enough, some of these stains can be absorbed into your teeth as well. If you want to get your teeth whitened a couple of shades you may want to use a strip or whitening product which whitens the inside. I personally use Colgate total whitening. (I also switch off with different regular pastes as well) Be weary of online whitening products. I have not been impressed with a lot of them.

Gel-less teeth whitening from store?

Is there any teeth whitening system that doesn't require the use of gel? Every product I've tried requires some sort of whitening gel that oozes out of the tray. It'd also be nice if I could buy it from my local grocery store. Thanks!
--------------------
Hi there---truthfully, nothing works as well as the concentrated gel you can get from your dentist, using whitening trays made specifically to fit your teeth and yours alone. If you have a lot of gel oozing from the trays, that is a sign that you are using too much. A little goes a long way! The whitening mouth rinses that are available do not work because the idea is to have the whitening gel on the teeth for a period of about 3 hours per session.

Teeth Whitening.... effects on the enamel?

Crest whitestrips. Are they bad for you? Do you get sensitive teeth after using it? What are some other affordable solutions? Whitening toothpastes?
--------------------
any type of whitening effects the enamel. i tried crest and my teeth started to hurt really bad so when i went to the dentist i asked him to try it using professional solution, well it hurt any less. So i guess whitestrips $20.00 vs professional $100 whitestrips are the way to go cause both options are going to do the same damage to your enamel. When i was using whitening solution the dentist gave me i was also using the toothpaste EnamelOn- its an enamel strengthener toothpaste which helped ease the pain a little. There are other whitening strips out there but ive never tried them. sorry i think whitening toothpastes take too long to see a noticeable difference. thats just my opinion

What is the best tooth whitening system in the drug stores?

I can't really afford to have my teeth whitened by a dentist at this time. So I was going to try one of the over the counter brands....which one do you like?
--------------------
i used the crest whitestrips a few times now and they work great!! you notice it within a week or two of useing them but of corse you have to brush like normal and all of that still. you also will notice your teeth may be sensitive to cold and hot it doesnt stay that way though it will go away. good luck :)

best teeth whitening method?

I want to whiten my teeth at home and I was wondering which brand offers the best method that works and leaves teeth undamaged and noticeably whiter. Please leave the brand and type (tray, strips etc) The reason I want to do it at home is because my dad got his teeth whitened at a dentist and the dentist messed up and his teeth are messed up. Thank you!
--------------------
HI, I have always had problems with faint yellow teeth. In fact everyone in my family has this problem. I have tried every product that exists along with frequent visits to dentists. Dentists have always told me that my teeth are good but I was never happy with the color. Using peroxide or baking soda is harmful for teeth in a longer run so I never used it. Trays are always a NO for me because they give lot of irritation and pain. The ONLY thing that has worked for me till date is Dazzle White. I was not sure of using it at the beginning as I did not want to waste more money. Later, after doing some research on the Internet I found out about this company giving free samples. I immediately ordered mine (just paid $1.95 shipping). This is a real good product and has worked for me. I don't work for this company nor am I related to them in any manner. Just trying to help someone who has faced similar problems like me. Thanx BTW the website from where I got my free samples is http://tinyurl.com/freewhiteteeth

whitening teeth, and a curry?

hey i have slighty yellow teeth, i'm trying the teethwhite home kit. does anyone know how long it takes for it to actually work? i'm on my 2nd day and no change has happened yet. i've noticed white spots tho on my side teeth, i dont want spots o white on my teeth yi know. Anyways another question i was wondering was do u think having a chinese curry during this teeth whitening treatment thing will reduce my chances of this teeth whitening actually work? Since curries r supposed to stain teeth.
--------------------
Yes u are right. eating curry and stuff that stains your teeth during whitening will work against you. Whitening makes your teeth particularly sensitive to reuptake of stain so avoid coffee tea, curry and anything else that stains your teeth for a few days after using it. many home kits take 2 weeks before you start noticing any difference.

Teeth whitening - enamel damage?

I've gone through a number of threads that talk about teeth becoming sensitive after teeth whitening because of the effect of peroxide on the enamel. Is this sensitivity permanent or temporary? Is there any permanent damage to the enamel? I wouldn't want to get white teeth at the expense of destroying my teeth. Thank you
--------------------
well the argument between permanent and temporary doesnt seem to have reached a conclusion yet. It's really to do with the thickness of the enamel you already have...if it's thin (its translucent at the bottom of your teeth, or the top of your lowers) then i wouldnt advise 'at home' whitening kits. Go to your dentist who will do it with different agents that dont erode the enamel. it is more expensive though...it just depends how bad you want white teeth

Home remedies for teeth whitening?

I'm really big on teeth and I would like mine to be whiter! I heard baking soda and peroxide works, has anyone ever tried it? Thanks in advance!
--------------------
Peroxide works I use it and my teeth are really white. It's just like going to the dentist and getting your teeth bleached just it doesn't smell as bad. :) But also I asked my dentist about using peroxide to make sure it was safe and make sure it wouldn't damage my teeth or anything and he said that it's fine to use it.

Teeth Grinders? Mouth Guard at Night? Zoom Whitening? Invisalign?

Dentist told me I should sleep with a mouth guard at night to prevent grinding my teeth. ever since he told me this i've been freaking out over it and fear i have actually began to grind my teeth at night. I have a mouh guard, the ones people use during boxing. is this okay? its rather bulky though. but still? do you use anything...else? i'm stressing out. i stress out over my teeth! my college is performing ZOOM Teeth Whitening for $150, by professional dentists. I really want to get Invisalign but it's expensive! But i really think it will help me a lot, to rid minor spacing and help with the teeth grinding problem. help! any words would be great!
--------------------
I paid close to 700 dollars for the Zoom whitening treatment. How are you getting it for 150? Go for it. Also, go to CVS and ask about non-bulky, more streamlined teeth grinding deterrants. Or ask you dentist what to do, braces may help it, i dunno.
