Over the counter teeth whitening systems are rather mild concentrations. Reason is - they can't be directed only on the teeth because they do not custom fit your own teeth. The solution goes everywhere in your mouth. Within a certain time, the solution becomes diluted with saliva and becomes ineffective. It won't hurt you...you will probably swallow some of it, but because it isn't as strong as the stuff the dentist gives you, you won't drop dead. The solution will whiten for the time it says it will. Wearing strips (or other delivery systems) longer than directed won't do you any good. It won't hurt, but it won't help either.

What do you do to whiten your teeth?
I want the most cost effective, quick dramatic results. I have some bonding done, and I know it won't really change colors, but I'm getting the bonding redone, and when they take off the old bonding, I'm going to whiten my teeth and they're going to match the new bonding. Can I use two Crest Whitening Strips on my top row teeth?
I have been drinking more and more coffee lately - and the colour of my teeth is beginning to become tainted. I was wondering if I could use two whitening strips on my top row of my teeth? It would be really awkward for me to have white teeth at the front, but to have tainted teeth in the back. Is it safe to use two at the same time? Can I also do the same for my bottom row?

I started using the Crest whitening strips this past saturday. And I have notice that my bottom teeth are sensitive to drinking or touching them. Should I stop or will it stop feeling that way after a while? Or should I use sensitive toothpaste while using the strips? IDK if that will even make a difference.... Help :)

You could try using baking soda, but it won't necessarily whiten that well. Anyhow...they sell whitening strips in most drug stores,..and yes they do work. They can be pretty expensive but usually right next to the brand name ones, Crest and whatever..they have the "off brand" ones. They're half the price of the other ones, if money is an issue. The results typically last up to 12 months, so I just say screw it and buy the 30 dollar box of em.

im trying the baking soda-peroxide thing but my gums are sensitive. also got my tongue pierced about a month ago-will it be bad to use it with the bar in? and how much of peroxide(the 3% kind) and baking soda do i use?

Or, you can mix enough baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make a paste, dip your toothbrush in it and brush your teeth. The exact combo doesnt really matter. But you mentioned you have sensitive gums. A lot of people can just use the 3% stuff, but you may have to dilute the hydrogen peroxide with some water if you get sensitivity, usually people do half and half.

Teeth brush-on whitening?
I have been trying to find a way to remove cigarette / coffee / wine stains from my teeth. The strips won't work well, since I have crocked teeth :) and most of the stains are on the inner side. I once read about some brush-on whitener but I am not sure what it was. It was that you just brush it on like toothpaste but don't rinse and keep it overnight. Anyone knows what I am talking about? I have never heard of brush- on whitening but I do know of toothpastes that will help you remove stains. Arm and Hammer whitening toothpaste works AMAZING! I personally used this and my teeth went three shades lighter after one week. When I ran out of toothpaste though, the whiteness faded away :/
