I want to whiten my teeth, but am a little skeptical about the products. I heard that teeth whitening strips make your teeth sensitive, which ultimately leads to pain when eating or drinking cold things. Is this true?? Have any of you guys or know of anyone who used whitening products??

It's said that they eat away at the healthy protective enamel layer which then exposes the tooth to decay at a higher rate. Also, the more you use them, with the worn out enamel, having a cup of coffee will stain the tooth even more! You have to bleach more and more. But I think doing it once in a while for special occassions is not a bad idea. After a single whitening session it's very unlikely anyone will experience sensitivity! The enamel isn't THAT thin, but with repeated use as many have to do to upkeep the white, there's no doubt the enamel will permanently suffer damages. Also, why do it through a dentist who charges an arm and a leg for the same products sold in stores? I'd do it myself for $50 from an over the counter product than spend a few hundred just to have a dentist do it! Unless you choose to have it done by lazer which is very expensive but again not worth it to do it that way since the results are always temporary (unless you stop eating and drinking lol). The only benefit of lazer is that it will whiten more quickly for someone who has to look good that day or the next day and has procrastinated.
