What teeth-whitening kits have you used ? Should I use a gel kit , strips , or a light-powered kit ? OR would I be better off getting them whitened at my dentist , and about how much would that cost me ?

I've used Crest Whitening Strips and they work good for the price ($35.00). Of course, a professional whitening will give you the best results, but that can cost you about ten times that amount. All in all, the more you spend, the whiter your teeth.
