I'm getting braces in about 16 days and I'm also going to go meet family that I haven't seen in a while. My teeth aren't exactly white, and I don't want something to happen where I get white patches on my teeth from the braces (happened to a friend). In need of an at-home (home made?) whitener or an inexpensive whitener that will whiten really good within about 16 days...Thanks...

If you rinse with hydrogen peroxide it will whiten your teeth. Many dentists will tell you that the best treatment for your teeth is to brush with baking soda and rinse with hydrogen peroxide. Many of the teeth whiteners you pay lots of money for are really hydrogen peroxide in disguise. Hydrogen peroxide(the same stuff used to bleach hair) is inexpensive and also used as a germ killer.
