I've been using Crest 3D tooth paste but haven't seen the results I'm looking for. I've also used the Rembrandt two hour whitening kit. I need to get my teeth whitened should I go to a normal dentist or a teeth whitening clinic?
I am overdue for a dental check-up and professional clean and I am embarrassed about the ghastly dark stains on my teeth from all the tea and coffee I drink. Do teeth get whiter or darker in the 48 hours after whitening?
I just had my teeth whitened and am aware that I should keep to colorless, non-acidic foods for 48 hours. My question is not related to that, I think. In reading about tooth whitening, I have seen some reports of teeth relapsing a little within the first 48 hours, while other reports suggested that the hydrogen peroxide continues to get them *even whiter* within the first 48 hours. I'm trying to find out what is the best teeth-whitening system without going to the dentist for a professional whitening. I'm researching for my fiance, who is in the Marines. I was a smoker and always promised myself once I quit I would whiten my teeth...they aren't horrible, just are a very fainy yellow. Enough for me to notice being I see myself everyday. Anyways, I was wondering waht is the best teeth whitening product on the market without a prescription/dr's visit?

Crest strips are great. I've been using them for 4 years, coffee drinker, ex-smoker and they work great. I use them about every year or so. The key is to go through the entire system as directed to get max results. The Classic or Renewal line works great. The Premium line didn't work so good on me but everyone's different. The Premium line does take shorter time though, you wear them for 7 or 10 days. The Classic 14 days. And Renewal 10 day. I find the Renewal lifts deep stains (claims to remove up to 20 years of stains) but the Classic gave me longer lasting results. Any one of these, you wear for 30 mins a day, twice a day. It may cause some sensitivity. To decrease some of it, don't brush before use, wear the top/bottom separately, skip a day or allow more time in between each set. Like instead of wearing them back to back, wear a set in the morning and at night. There's also Crest Multicare, which gradually whitens your teeth. It takes 5 mins a day. I've also used the Rembrant whitening strips but no results for me. But my friend has used it and it works good. It's on sale on Amazon for under $10 which is a good deal. The strips cost about $30. Some dentists offer Crest Supreme too. I'm on that now. It has higher whitening ingredients and larger strips. While on any strips, avoid coffee, soda, tea, smoking, or dark drinks. Or rinse after. I use a whitening toothpaste like Colgate Total whitening or Rembrant whitening (pricey though) to prolong the results. I'm trying to find out what is the best teeth-whitening system without going to the dentist for a professional whitening. I'm researching for my fiance, who is in the Marines. Is laser teeth whitening really the only way to whiten teeth?
I really want to get laser teeth whitening for graduation, but i have been using crest whitestrips and i haven't noticed much of a difference- whether it be because they arent working or I just can't tell because i use it on all of my teeth. If it really is the best, then does it hurt?

Whatever you try, DO NOT fall for any of the "free trial" gimmicks on the Net. In fact, I just would not buy any tooth whitening product that way; there are far more tooth whitening scams and hazardous products on websites than real products, and many of the sellers have very slick come-ons that will suck you in...and then sock your credit card for charges that you had no idea you were agreeing to.

Our office uses the Supreme which are 4 times stronger than what you can get in the store, but the others will work as well but take more time and possibly more than one kit. The results are usually pretty quick, noticeable in the first few days, best in a week or longer.If you can, do yourself the favor of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar, plaque, or orthodontic cement) will impede their ability to work. They will not whiten any white fillings you may have, but whiten uniformly. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). You should not drink or eat anything dark for at least 1/2 hour after using the strips. The strips/trays are your least costly whitening method as compared to custom made trays or in office whitening ($500.00+) All of the methods (strips, trays, custom trays, in office whitening) have the potential to make your teeth temporarily sensitive, but will not harm the enamel. If you get sensitive use the product every other day in conjunction with a sensitive tooth toothpaste. You might try to drink dark liquids through a straw and don't smoke. Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth and therefore are not so effective. When you brush your teeth, once the toothpaste is on..dip it in the baggie and continue brushing your teeth with the baking soda on the toothbrush. And brush for a full 2 minutes. You need to remove the tough stains on your teeth and it doesnt take 15 seconds to do that. It might burn the first time a little but thats because you removed everything possible and it wont hurt as bad the second time & so on. Hope this helps/works..cuz it did 100% for me. ?

What is the best teeth whitening product?
I have tried using various white strips (the old crest white strips, listerine, and colgate supreme) and a couple whitening trays but with everyone after the first treatment my teeth become sensitive and on the second i get VERY painful shocks in my teeth which i think is from the nerves. I dont know what the problem is but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. P.S. i use sensodyne religiously and it works great just not when i try to whiten my teeth.

Is laser teeth whitening better at making the teeth white as compared to the trays the dentists give?
I had the trays once but they didnt make the entire tooth white, as if the product didnt cover the entire tooth, it wasnt uniform. will the laser (i think its laser), the one time whitening be better at making the teeth all white?

It's a heck lot more precise, quicker, safer and better than chemical whitening. It's like the ultimate whitening product. The only issue is it's too darn expensive. Make sure you use decent whitening toothpastes to maintain it afterwards.

There are so many different methods such as whitening pens, whitening strips, whitening toothpaste or simply paying to get my teeth bleached at my local dentist. Your dentist can hook you up with a gel that goes in some trays. That worked really well for me, better than any of the over the counter stuff and about the same price. If you want less invasive, get some mouthwash with baking soda or other lightener in it.

I'm not happy with the color of my teeth recently, I'd like to whiten up to a couple of shades lighter. It just makes me really self conscious and it bothers me all the time. What kind of teeth whitening strips should I use?
I have tried the Crest Whitestrips (Premium, I believe), and they worked great as far as whitening goes. I now would like to try something different, mainly because the strips would slip off my teeth very easily and left white stains on my gums. Also, they left my gums very sensitive, and every time I would brush my teeth, my gums would bleed! If there are any whitening strips on the market that whiten fast but do not leave my gums in pain, please let me know.

What teeth whitening products work for you?
I have been trying to find a way to whiten my teeth, so I don't have to spend $500+ at the dentist. I have tried Listerine whitening mouthwash and Crest white strips a long with several whitening toothpaste. I have not been successful with any of those products. I know you probably don't want to get in-office whitening, but hear me out for a second. The laser whitening is very expensive, around $500 which is what you were referring to in the original question. However the whitening trays that you can buy from the dentist are much cheaper. Think of it as like a midpoint between costly laser whitening and cheap over the counter products. Buying whitening trays from the dentist is almost like an investment. It costs more in the beginning because you have to pay for the trays. But you will only need to buy the trays once! To buy refills of the gel for touch-ups only costs about $15-20 per tube. Touch-ups only need to be made as necessary and since the office strength gel is more effective, I only have to do mine about 2x a year. The gel tubes cost less than Crest whitestrips, which usually run at about $40/pack. And I find that Crest whitestrips don't really keep your teeth white unless you continue to use them. TIP: If you want the trays made for cheap, see if there is a dental hygiene school near where you live. Usually for a nominal fee you can have an appointment with a student who can fabricate the whitening trays for you at the school. My school charges only $10 for this! And if you still are against trying the dentist trays I can tell you I like Crest Pro-Health toothpaste. It's really good for removing surface stain and making your teeth feel super clean.
