i have braces and have used a whitening mouth wash. i heard when you get them off that you can get darkened squares where the brace used to be. i know that the mouthwash whiteners evenutally wear off, but will i still get these marks? is there a way to get rid of them ?

Upon getting your braces off, your orthodontist will remove all the glue and bonding and clean up your teeth. It is expected that you see your dentist for a cleaning soon thereafter. In many cases since wearing the braces for several years, you will lose shades of whiteness in your teeth. After getting your first cleaning post braces, you can determine if it is worth the cost to have your teeth professionally whitened. Most dentists off tray whitening and some even offer laser whitening. The tray whitening is professional grade and usually accounts for several shades of whiter teeth. The laser is more expensive as is most laser treatment and may need several treatments before your teeth are as white as you had liked. In any case you may want to try over the counter whitening tool such as crest white strips. We have found them to be effective, but some say that the results are temporary and need to be maintained with more product.
