Hi, I just got my braces off (For the second time!), and my teeth are not as white as I want them to be. I don't want to shell out the $500 for in-office whitening, but rather the $200 for the equivalent take home kit prescribed by the dentist. I was talking to one of my dentist's assistants and she was saying it burns and my teeth are sensitive for weeks. She also did not give me a good answer for how long it lasts! The information I found the internet varies considerably, so I've come to yahoo for help. Do these kits hurt? How bad? How long does it take for these kits to work? Is it over night or once a day hourly? Thank you!

They dont burn your mouth or anything, it is basically a tray that is made especially to fit your mouth, and some syringes with the bleach in them to use with the tray. They can make teeth sensitive but not always. I am from the UK and my dentist always advises using the home kits from the chemist first, as it is cheaper and is pretty much the same, the only difference being that the trays are universal and not made especially to fit your mouth, and the bleach isn't quite as strong.
