Probably a stupid question.. But anyway. Can I? I'm talking about the clear retainer you get when you get braces off.. They tell you not to clean them with toothpaste, so would whitening gel ruin them as well? Does whitening gel even work? What else will help me whiten my teeth (other than going to the dentist)? Cheers.

whitening gel is a lot more potent than toothpaste, so don't do it! i have really bad fluoride mottling on my teeth (bright white spots) and asked about teeth whitening at the dentists and was told its not worth it - it just makes the white bits whiter. and i was told that the home kits just make your teeth really sensitive and don't actually work. in terms of stopping them getting worse, don't smoke, avoid tea and coffee, fruit juices (they are OK with a straw), and avoid acidic foods. good luck and i hopes this helps! xx
