Do tanning beds actually whiten teeth?

I heard somewhere that using a tanning bed at a salon will help whiten teeth. Is this true, or is it a myth?
--------------------
There are new teeth whitening products that contain an ingredient called Carbamide Peroxide gel that is activated by the UV light from a tanning bed. Once the gel is activated, it releases oxygen into the teeth, which penetrates the enamel and lifts stains from the teeth. Don't know if they work well--but they're supposed to simulate what the dentist does at the office. You might even be able to buy these whitening products at the tanning salon: Twilight Teeth and Hollywood White.
