Relation To Sensitive Teeth From Whitening Products Or Toothpaste?

I heard the other day that supposedly, whitening products or whitening substances in toothpaste can cause sensitivity to your teeth ! Is this true?, and if so what kinds whitening substances or is it more than whitening substances could it possibly be other things that make your teeth sensitive? As of right now i have SUPER sensitive teeth lol . Thanks So Much Guys ? Bri

There is evidence that whitening toothpastes cause sensitivity but there is NO evidence that it whitens your teeth! Tartar control toothpastes can also cause sensitivity. If your teeth are sensitive, try Sensodyne toothpaste for a couple months. Also, talk to your dentist to be sure you aren't grinding your teeth at night. Home bleaching definitely causes sensitivity but it should be minimal and reversible if used correctly. If you're interested in whitening your teeth don't waste your money on Crest white strips or any other 'over the counter' treatments. Invest in home whitening trays made by your dentist. They can double as home flouride trays that can also help reduce or eliminate sensitivity in your teeth, especially if you are bleaching. Good luck!
