should doctor perscribed teeth whitening hurt?

i got a custom fitted tray from my dentist and use the bleach they gave me with it and almost every-time i use it i get a sharp electrifying pain in the roots of my teeth. is it ok to keep whitening? will the pain eventually go away? i leave it on for like an hour or so each time. it says to leave it on for 2 though. HELP?!?!?

Whiting will always hurt if you have week teeth. (most people do) It will always hurt and the pain will not go away. Try not to get the liquid on your gums by the way, it will burn them. At least that is what happened to my wife. Whiting is really bad for your teeth as it weakens them that is why you feel the pain. Also, there are different levels of intensity the dentist can provide, did you inform him/her that it hurts? Usually the more it hurts, the more powerful it is, so the whiter your teeth will get. Remember, don't go too white or else it will look really fake.
