teeth whitening before getting a crown?

helloooo. Question! I'm 17 and i just got my braces off december 18th. I have a missing tooth (I was not born with a tooth there, there was only a baby tooth, they pulled it and no adult tooth came in). Well, after having had braces for 3 years, i want a pretty white smile. my dad bought me crest whitestrips for christmas, and i want to use them. I already had my dental implant, and I am going to go to the periodontist to get the post uncovered on march 3rd. I was wondering if it'd be okay to whiten my teeth before getting a crown, getting the crown to match that color, then just keeping the whitening up? would it affect my crown at all, if i whitened my teeth to upkeep it (putting the strips on over the crown)?

Good thinking. You absolutely right. Do all the whitening before you have the porcelain crown made. The dentist can then match the shade to your lighter natural teeth. Remember the porcelain crown is color stable and will neither get lighter or darker. I'll bet you'll look great in a couple of months.
