I have metal braces... can you get those teeth trays in the stores with the gel and put them over the braces?

DONT DO IT! I DID IT WHEN I HAD BRACES! I thought, "O, well, it will just even out after my braces r off if I keep using them". Well I was...WRONG! Been 3 years and the places r still there, and it sort of messed up my braces.
