Can whitening toothpaste make your teeth hurt?

I use arm and hammer whitening toothpaste and it works good but it makes my teeth sting and hurt. Could it be the toothpaste?

yeah that has happened to me. Use Crest Expressions. It whitens my teeth so well and it does not hurt one bit.
