* Natural at-home techniques such as mashed strawberries spread on the teeth, gargling lemon juice, rubbing the inside of an orange peel on the teeth and mixing baking soda with fluoride. Most of the so called "natural" ways are just myths that do not work, and make you spend a lot of valuable time for nothing. * Whitening gels and trays. These kits contain active ingredients like Hydrogen peroxide or Carbamide peroxide, in 6%, 10% or 22% concentration. The process includes applying the gel on the tray, inserting into your mouth and biting on it for a few minutes, every day for 3-4 weeks. The procedure is extremely inconvenient and the gels taste quite awful. Also, if you put too much gel it might cause irritation to your gums. * Professional dentist whitening. This is considered to be one of the most effective and reliable ways, since the procedure is performed at the dentist's clinic. This method is based on laser or blue light technique, and the results are quite immediate. The major issue is that the costs are very high and could sum up to $600-$1,000 per treatment, and most people need 2-5 treatments to get the desired results.
