How to help sensitive teeth?

I've just had my teeth whitened and everytime I used the 'at home kit' that I have to use until next week my teeth are unbearably sensitive. I've taken some neurofen to ease it but i need another non-toothpaste/chemical solution. I really can't stand it. I have to carry on with the treatment because it's for an article I'm writing (I'm a journalist) so any home medicine ideas you guys have would be great. Thanks guys
