I've Heard that gargling with Hydrogen Peroxide is "good" for oral hiegein, because it kills bacteria in the mouth and also whitens the teeth. I've read about the safety etc (Dont Swallow!) but was wondering what strength to buy? I don't want one too weak, but don't want to burn or irritate my mouth either. Just want a bacteria free white smile! :) Thanks!

Colgate Peroxyl is 1.5% hydrogen peroxide & is in shops. I think it might oxidise light staining from the teeth. Pharmacists sell 9% solutions but they advise to use diluted, as it is caustic to human tissues. The burns caused on the mucosa (pink bits to you) do fade within a few hours. Carbamide peroxide which is used to bleach teeth professionally contains the equilavent of around 2 to 3% hydrogen peroxide. Applied for about 4 hours daily on teeth. As a mouthwash it will burn your mucosa as well as bleaching your teeth. If you only use for a few seconds it won't affect the enamel enough to give lasting whiteness. Trial & error maybe, like all pioneering science. Let me know what works for you...!
